Executive Chef Avishar Barua’s creations are both balance and tribute to his Midwestern upbringing and Bangladeshi roots. His fresh interpretation of familiar flavors is the culmination of an impressive career, with roles at New York’s Mission Chinese and WD-50, and locally at 1808 American Bistro and Veritas. At Service Bar, Chef Barua and his team elegantly translate the foundations of great cuisine into inventive dishes.
Full dinner service is available at the main bar, two large community tables (referenced as *Counters), and a variety of smaller individual tables that accommodate 2-6 guests.
Great food, excellent service, free parking. Our server, Chris, was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Love the food. Highly recommend the french onion soup and wontons. The Cocktails are great. My favorite being the old fashioned.
Our bartender Kyle was awesome! We had a really great time and enjoyed every bit of drink and food brought out. Zero complaints, a must try! We will be back soon.
Food was delicious, as usual!
Tamara did a great job! Had her make selections for us - had the garlic Pull apart bread had the French onion Soup and the lamb wontons. The bass and crispy ribs were both delicious. Bartenders made me a cocktail from a former well known cocktail bar in the city that is no longer with us and it was spot on... bottle of Red and after dinner drinks were great!!!
Cocktails were great and waiter was polite. Restaurant had good ambience in a great looking dining room. We ordered five dishes, all came to the table too close together for my date and I to get through each course without feeling rushed about the next arriving. We requested that they slow down between courses, but they did not listen. It felt like the kitchen wanted to serve us quickly to move on to the next table. Some dishes were very bland, although they were cooked and presented well. I would like to believe it was a one off bad experience, but for the amount of money it costs to have dinner and drinks I don't think it was worthwhile.
This was our first time to Service Bar. We found the variety of selections on the menu exceptional and were paid very close attention to by our servers. The deconstructed chicken did take a long time to prepare and deliver to the table. I'd recommend you add to the menu a notation that it is made fresh and takes a good 30-45 minutes to prepare.
The Instagram photos with additional menu items beyond those noted on the paper menu were great photos and were well appreciated.
Plan on returning again but with more people to help us eat the excellent chicken entree!
Amazing food and it makes sense — the chef worked at Mission Chinese in NYC during its heyday circa Pete Well’s NYT review.
It’s like the best fast food / stoner food made with the most luxurious ingredients. So worth it to try the menu; it’ll be different than the options around town. Drinks aren’t too shabby either. ;)
We have been going here for awhile and used to absolutely love it, but each time as of late, our experience is worse than last. We had a 7:30 reservation and didn't get seated until a half hour later--at which point, half the restaurant was empty. We didn't eat until after 9 because our food took forever to come out. Our server was awesome and the bartender friendly, but the hostess was not communicative or accommodating. I will still recommend Service Bar because the food is great, but with the caveat that they come prepared to wait even on a Sunday night.
Had a great birthday dinner with friends and family. Highly recommend this local gem!
Hipster, cool vibes. Amazing bar and atmosphere. The communal table was great and everyone was fun and eager to share the experience. The food was outstanding and the cocktails hand crafted to perfection. Service was a bit slow, but no one minded because this place was just so great!
Great drinks and best burger I've ever had in my life. We're big fans of OYO products and will definitely be going back to eat at Service Bar.
Server was prompt, personable, and knowledgeable. She made excellent drink recommendations and was willing to ask about ingredients for us. Continue to appreciate vegan and vegetarian options. Things to improve - no vegan starters this time and no dip with garlic pull apart bread. Cocktails while delicious are a definitely a splurge.
We arrived five minutes early for our reservation and were told we didn’t have one. I had a confirmation. Finally the host said we were already checked in and seated - we weren’t. They said they were full but “found” us a seat in the middle of a crowded communal table where we could neither see nor hear each other. We asked for one of the many empty two tops and were told they were held for reservations (?!). Mmmmmmkay. We left. Guess two middle aged women weren’t worth any effort (little did they know my companion’s husband was a CIA trained exec chef for a high end local restaurant group before retiring). Went to Lupo on Arlington for a lovely meal and were treated wonderfully.
I have done the distillery tour several times & always enjoy it. The Service Bar is OUTSTANDING. Would definitely recommend a visit to both! Makes for a wonderful experience!
Love the veg options. I can’t wait for more vegan options in the future. The tofu and the wontons were incredible. Great cocktails and atmosphere:)
One of the best places in town. Great drinks. Old Fashioned was superb. Pork rinds are a must. Great service. We sat at the long table they call the counter. Loved it. Got to talk to lots of nice people.
A very good experience a few months ago, but definitely will not be back for awhile after the most recent visit. We had reservations and a table waiting for us, but got there a little early and had drinks at the bar. When ready to sit...male host had given our table away..stating first come first serve. A heads up would have been nice. Tried to set us up at another tablle that was crammed & not conducive to our group. He eventually set up another table but 20 minutes later and really didn’t seem to be in much of a hurry. He was not friendly or apologetic at all. Also after deciding what food to order with the menu presented to us our server asked if we knew about the secret menu. We of course did not and she states you can find it on Instagram. Well none of us have Instagram accounts so she showed us with an iPad. Very very odd and never experienced that before. Finally our food was good but came out maybe luke warm. All of us had been there before with a good experience but definitely stated that we would not return anytime soon. If a restaurant has such a seating policy they should make customers aware when they are planning to seat someone else at a table they stated was yours for the reservation. We were 10 steps away from the host stand so it wouldn’t have taken much to alert us of the rules. Secondly, if you’re going to have a secret menu on Instagram...maybe have the server ask the table if aware of this menus and whether people have an account. This should happen in the beginnng of the interaction and not after drinks have been ordered/served and we had much time to pick from the paper menu. Overall, just a lousy experience for a group of six people who spoke highly of the restaurant prior to that evening.
Literally so awesome. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was so amazing, quaint and intimate surroundings. The servers were truly an extension of the kitchen and were so well versed on the menu and truly brought the food to life. The menu setup is simple and concise while still allowing plenty of options for gluten free, veg, and vegan diners. Will be delighted to return again soon.
The food was amazing and they had a number of vegan options which is great. The portions were small to medium so we split 3 entrees for 2 people and it was enough food but no leftovers.
Amazing everything!!! Can’t wait to go back. The pimento cheese spread and pork rinds are to die for!!! My new favorite place!
Wonderful.... the secret menu was so fun.... great cocktails.
Service bar was delicious! Not only was the food great but it was a fun experience. We sat at the big table. My only complaint was other patrons were standing behind me at the bar and kept bumping into me and my chair. For diners, I think there should be a bit of a separated experience in order to fully appreciate the food and atmosphere. We will definitely return and try more secret menu items.
Alwaya make you feel like family. Creative and tasty dishes. Inventive cocktails featuring - in house made- spirits.
My boyfriend and I came to Service Bar for our post Valentine’s Day dinner. We had a wonderful time. Our server was great and the food was delicious. I love the upbeat fun ambiance!
My Husband, our son and his new wife had a wonderful experience at Service Bar. The service and attentiveness by our waiter Andy was exemplary as well as the appetizers and entrees on the secret menu on Instagram. Service Bar has consistently delivered a stellar experience from the ambiance to the food and customer service. It is my favorite restaurant in the short north and never fails to deliver.
We really like the atmosphere and decor, especially the gorgeous hand carved bar back. The bar was well stocked and professional with a large garnish station, a glass frosting machine, beautiful cut crystal glasses, etc...The menu is limited but well-rounded, there were options for our entire table. We LOVED the smoked wings, crispy brisket crunch, and the cheese & poof. The only item we didn't care for were the crispy ribs, there just wasn't much meat on the bones. Overall, a great night and would go back again.
Duck was outstanding! Lamb wontons were great! Great cocktails. Definitely going back. Service was awesome as well.
We’ve been there a few times and everytime have an amazing inventive meal. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Came in the night before Valentine’s Day and it was absolutely perfect. Great food (try the ribs) and awesome cocktails. Not much more you can ask for.
It’s been hard to go anywhere else since discovering this great spot!
Wmexcellent service, setting and creative approachable food
Great food and atmosphere!
I have loved this restaurant and tonight was disappointing. I found the menu on Instagram annoying. They were out of what I ordered and the last thing I felt like doing was searching for pictures of something to order. I took the servers recommendation and thought my meal was awful. This was one of my favorite restaurants and tonight was a disappointment.
I love Service Bar - I've been there probably 10 times. The food is outstanding and creative. I enjoy sitting at the bar. The bartenders are very friendly and accommodating. However, the last two times I've been there (in the last two weeks), there have been issues that I haven't experienced before. Yesterday, I had the cheesy brisket crunch for the first time, and the fry bread was stale. For a dish that has been written about nationally, I was super disappointed. Our bartender took it off the bill, but I would have paid for it (I ate it anyway). I won't be able to make it back again because I'm moving, but I encourage people to try Service Bar - its a great place to have in Columbus.
Food was great and the cocktails shined as always. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Food was great! Service was a little slow to start, but they picked up when we mentioned we had to get to a show. Would definitely go back
We found out after arriving that there was a "hidden menu" on Instagram with that day's specials. When I made the reservation 2 weeks earlier I should have been told to look at this menu before arriving. It would have given us a chance to study it more completely.
The food, drinks, and service were great! They also had a cool secret menu that added a level of fun to the evening. The communal style seating is not ideal for two people because it can get loud and difficult to have a conversation. Overall a very pleasant experience and I will definitely be going back.
