We had a 7:45 reservation but got there little early. Hostess told us to wait in the bar. Let me start there we enter and it was like “ OMG the noise is off the charts “ people were hovering all around. Not suitable for a date night at all. It was overwhelmingly crowded. Body brushing. And it’s Wednesday night, can’t imagine how weekend looks like there. Then we ordered drinks which was good. Then we get seated at around 8pm. The seat was literally in the middle of the dining room. Tiny table. There was a couple sitting inches away from us. We could literally hear each others conversations. We order. We get served a cold tasteless bread with Olive oil as a compliment. No complaints, it’s free. We don’t touch it. Then we get the same bread little warm with some butter. To our surprise it’s the appetizer we ordered “PANNE OTTO” THE SAME COMPLIMENTARY BREAD WITH THE SAME OIL WITH SOME BUTTER lol. Wasted 10$ for the same complimentary bread with butter. LOL The Fried Brussels were so bitter when we told the server he said it’s coz of the vinaigrette and said we can cancel the order. We did. Even after that very patiently and optimistic we waited for our main course. I had ordered the risotto and my boyfriend ordered half chicken. We get the food. My “Risotto” was literally just butter and rice, nothing else no flavor. 26$ for butter with rice??? For real???My boyfriend’s half chicken was literally just a plain rotisserie chicken and couple of baby carrots. Chicken had no seasoning, no flavor no sauce. He seasoned it with salt and pepper himself. He could barely eat it coz it was so dry. Could’ve gone to a casual Colombian restaurant and got that chicken with 5 sides with thousand times better flavor and paid lot less. We were so annoyed but we were super hungry and no energy to complain so we just ate couple bites and left. Horrible food, service was below average, the ambiance is the only good thing, if only that filled our bellies lol. Chef doesn’t know how to cook 🤮
We were sat a bit after our reservation but staff was very apologetic - gave us a free round and service was exceptional!
After reading several reviews complaining of bad service an average food & high prices we went here with some trepidation. however we were nicely surprised at how great the service was how delicious the food was and we actually thought it was a pretty good value for New York City. All of our food was prepared very well and very tasty. our two teenage daughters were able to find things on the menu that they enjoyed as well. The ambience of the restaurant with all the lights in the ceiling is very pretty. we really licked out because we had a table with a lighted gazebo that we set under to eat.
Feels dirty. Booked for 7:45pm, was seated at 8:15pm. No apology, no comp drink whilst we waited. Christmas decorations up in February. Disappointed.
It was everything we hoped it would be! I’m from Saskatchewan (Canada) and have been dreaming about visiting Eataly since Mario’s days on The Chew. It delivered!!! Such a wonderful ambiance on the rooftop!!! Serra by Birreria was a delight!
Dining out in New York
Food is just okay. The servers look extremely tired.
Food was pretty bad. The atmosphere was cool, but would not return.
Perfect ambiance. Great food. Loved everything!
No children’s menu and wouldn’t let us bring a slice of pizza for child who wouldn’t eat anything on the menu.
I always enjoy dining at Serra. You’ve got to make your reservation early, but it’s worth it. Unique alpine setting on a rooftop with farm-fresh dishes and unique wines.
The food was very expensive for what it was
Tables are so close avoiding privacy. There is no any kind of pasta in the menu and the options for vegetarian are very limited.
I had a lot of expectations because the place on pictures looks great, but there are many reasons why i wouldn’t recommend it. The tables for 2 are so close to the next one that it seems we were sitting toguether. The service is basic, and the food it’s too expensive and it’s really normal or that I can’r find for less price and better taste. But I can say the decor is beautiful

We are glad you liked the ambiance and we hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you! Have a good day.
The place is very beautiful but there was just few options for entrees. The food was ok (not in the same level as others Eataly restaurants) and pricy
Beautiful venue but certainly the prices for some of the main dinner entrees were off the charts even for a seasoned nyc family. 20 Oz steak for 58? Had to be sent back cause it was cold, albeit a good prime cut, but waiting almost 20 minutes for the second steak to arrive finished any appetite we walked in with. Gracious hostess brought us some apps compliments of the chef but quite frankly when food is cold it’s a real turn off. O early salty though lydias recipes all have a heavy hand. I would go for lunch when one can enjoy the atmosphere of this little “alps” village in the middle of manhattan. Eat downstairs. It’s just as good if not better
I took my parents here, and while we loved the ambiance, we were unimpressed by the service and thought the food wasn't worth the expense. We had a 5:30pm reservation, but weren't seated until 6pm, with no explanation or attempt at an apology from the hostess. Once we were seated, my father moved his seat to be closer to me (because the noise level was really high and we wanted to be able to hear each other better), but a member of the staff came over and asked him (in a condescending way, to be honest) to move his chair back so he wouldn't be back-to-back with another chair. Granted, there was a ton of space between the two chairs, and no one sat in that other chair the entire 2 hours we were there. The food was good, but we were disappointed they were already out of fondue (at 6pm). We had been looking forward to try it.
The ambiance was nice , food is good the only small problem for the time of day it was a bit cold
The waitress was amazing and very helpful with ordering food since one of the people in the party has a severe food allergy. However, the plates are very small for the price and the chicken was raw.

I expected more but the food was tasty
Very pretty place and great service but food was not what we expected it to be!
Great restaurant would recommend anyone to visit
Even though it was Valentine's Day, which we thought might be challenging, it was excellent! The service staff was very professional, friendly, and effective. Even though it was a big night and they offered a prix fixe menu, they also offered a la carte. We ended going with the prix fixe and we weren't disappointed. After paying, the manager brought us amazing after dinner drinks and even offered to take some pics of us. Definitely going back when it's warmer to experience the open roof and the new decor. Highly recommended!
Ambience is amazing, only takeaway is food is a little much for what they give.
The ambience was amazing but the food was just ok. Nothing to rave about.
Ambience was excellent, although I expected flowers as a decoration on Valentines Day eve.
The food was mediocre, at best. The Calamari appetizer was good, but very small. The salmon entree my wife had was very salty. The chicken entree I was served was undercooked, evidenced by the blood red meat by the bone. I just got two "I'm sorry by the waiter", and nothing else, as far as compensation. Although, I didn't have to pay, it would have been nice , since I ate a few bites of almost raw chicken.
I expected more from an Italian restaurant in Flatiron.
Waited 40 minutes after reservation time. Bolognese was ok, have had better and I make it better.
Maybe I Will recommend The restaurant due to the location and the beers.
Beautiful decor! Nice ambiance! Service is good and price is not expensive.
Wonderful ambiance. Slanted tables!
Terrible service. Couldn’t get a waiter to clear dishes or take an order for over a half an hour. Forgot my girlfriends candle in dessert that I requested multiple times.
Highly do not recommend.
They couldn't have sat us at a better table!! It was the absolute best venue to host my third annual Galentine's day party! The staff was so friendly and extremely accommodating, very happy with the delicious - allergy conscious - food and lovely atmosphere. THANK YOU!
It was a fine meal. The menu seems more American than Italian (perhaps they’re channeling northern Italy where it’s more slabs of meat and less pasta and veggies). It was pretty loud, but not unbearable. My husband wished that we had gone to the food hall on the first floor instead. It’s a very pretty space.
The decor is wonderful. The food was mediocre. Service was inattentive and slow.
Food was deliciously, but a bit overpriced. Definitely not for an everyday outing.
The atmosphere was marvelous and the staff really helpful. We were delighted
The ambiance of Serra coupled with the seasonal menu make this a special place to visit. It was beautifully decorated in a winter theme with tiny lights, flocked branches, and the feeling of a winter hide away It was the perfect place to meet after work and the cocktail menu capture this same ambiance. Couple this with items from the appetizer menu that included fondu with home=made bread, potatoes, and root vegetables, we were in winter seventh heaven. The wait staff was attentive without hurrying you through the experience. We would recommend this for both ambience, food, and service. Enjoy!
