Food is overvalued, but fair. Flowers are beautiful as in the pictures, but it is the only worthy thing, in terms “why you should visit that place”.
It was very noisy, so we didn’t enjoy it much.
The bar area looked crowded and “fun”. Unfortunately every aspect of our meal was awful. The service was almost non existent. The food was all spicy and salty. The meat was tough and very chewy. The fish was simply salty and all sides were horribly spicy. It’s one thing if one meal was bad but it was all of our meals. Getting someone to come over for a drink order took 15 minutes.
Can’t control the weather but it was 95 degrees, very uncomfortable, I suggest a few more fans & even some cool umbrellas to block the sun (they wouldn’t effect the ambiance, they do such a great job decorating you’d still see everything)
Food and drinks were good and also the service, but it was too hot and this contributed to a less special experience. The air conditioning are not sufficiente to NYC’s summer. The place must have more fans with water spray maybe
Terrible food and service! Never coming back.
The food was absolutely abysmal and the service or lack thereof just added to what was a terrible experience.
Very hot in July it’s rooftop but there are some fans still brutal. Service was very slow - ordered salad and took 20-30 min. I had to ask server what was going on. Not very friendly overall. Downstairs in Eataly food is cheaper and has AC!
It took us over a month to get early Saturday evening reservations, but I'm so pleased we were patient. Of course the Saturday we were scheduled to go just happened to be the hottest weekend of the Summer *heat advisories throughout the weekend*. It was warm but not unbearable, the restaurant still had a good amount of brave customers that weren't afraid of the heat. The ambiance is beyond breathtaking, I mean it's truly a secret garden. The food was awesome (this was my 1st from farm to table experience). The meats were so tender & just beyond unimaginable. The prices were a little high for a party of 4 our bill was just a little over $400. All & all we'll be back, but when the temps are a little cooler (maybe early Fall)
Peter the waiter was so kind and helpful! Great food... but there is no AC, so avoid on a hot day
My daughter chose Serra for her 16th birthday party dinner, because of its instagram-worthy setting. It was 95 degrees with 84% humidity but I read that Serra had a retractable roof, so we didn’t worry. Not only had they not closed the roof, but the fans weren’t working, so it was unbearably and perhaps even dangerously hot.
When I told our waiter that we had a sweet 16 to celebrate (which I’d also noted in the reservation) he said “uh huh,” which was representative of the service we got. Perhaps he was too hot to care.
My $26 swordfish was a hockey puck with so much salt on it I literally couldn’t eat it.
Seriously one of the most disappointing dinner experiences of my life, and a memorable 16th birthday for my daughter, in all the wrong ways.
The ambiance was great. It is a beautiful restaurant with nice decor. The drinks were great. No question about that. But the food menu was lacking. If it’s above 90 F or 103F like it was that day, there should be fans blowing. I am very confused why there’s not any ceiling fans. That’s uncalled for. People were swearing and people were uncomfortable. It was very hard to experience the nice vibes.
The ambiance and food make for an incredible time.
Came for brunch and was extremely disappointed in their air conditioning situation. I know it’s a rooftop but they’re ventilation and fan system is not great at all. About half the fans weren’t even on, and everyone around me was dripping sweat too. Honestly made it hard to enjoy the meal & ambience. I would come back when it’s less hot in the summer.
If you like roasting over tepid, slimy watermelon salad with slow service, this is the place for you. The organic wine, however, was delicious.
My wife went there with her girlfriend for her birthday. She had Pomodoro Conserva which was recommended by the server and she loved it. The cheese was like snow. For the main she had Maiale Alla Birra which she said was so soft and so~ good! The place was beautiful and overall she loved her experience.
I had a bad experience. We got there at 9:30, sat down, and our server didn’t come until 9:55. He then informed us the kitchen closed in 5 minutes so we had to order everything right away. The food was blander than I remembered. Our server rarely checked on us. Overall, negative experience. Very pretty ambiance. Better to come on Fridays, earlier, and in groups.
Very pretty setting and the food was really good. Service was a little slow
Great atmosphere to hang out with friends after work . Make a reservation ahead of time and Try the frozen Aperol Spritz!!
Really lacking in flavour
We made a 9:30 reservation and when we got there they notified us that the kitchen closes at 9:50
Clearly everyone goes here for the ambiance. The staff were rude, the menu had very poor selections of Italian food and the drinks were watered down. Couldn’t even get a picture with the gorgeous flowers (the only positive to this dinner) because the waiter was clearly annoyed.
Our main server was fine, but other servers were rude and dismissive, suggest retraining them when it comes to serving the customer with some respect. Took 20 minutes to get our waters initially. Service was slow, food was subpar for the price. Decor was pretty.
Very hot, slow service, but food and drinks were good once they came. Stronger fans needed for daytime dining as I actually started feeling faint.
It's popularity purely comes from the instagrammable aesthetic. Food was overpriced while quality was poor. Service from host on 1st floor to the hostesses on top floor to our waiter was unacceptable - all were rude with an attitude that felt like it was meant to tell us we weren't worth their time.
Everything was amazing. A bit pricy but I guess that’s what you pay for the kind of view. Restaurant was beautifully decorated, service was spectacular, and the food was delicious. I already told my friends about my wonderful experience.
The cocktails and food were top notch. We'll definitely be back!
Place was beautiful, my server was pleasant and awesome. The food was very tasty the only downfall is reservations. They only hold them for 15 mins. I had trouble finding parking and walking. I called to ask the guy if my reservation would be saved I’m still coming and he said yeah you should be ok and I got there and they told me my table was given up I had to wait 30/45 mins. Thankfully I spoke with one of the hostesses who paged the manager who was accommodating and gave me the next available table. Great customer service.
The portions are very small for the prices.
Location is very nice.
I would recommend Serra for a drink but not for a meal.
Recommended for the views and ambience. The service was great from server Adam B, who, regrettably, I gave an insufficient tip but didn’t realize that until long after I had left. I apologize and wish to make amends so please advise how to do so. Thank you.
It was far too hot in the restaurant -there needed to be more effective fans!!!
It is lovely to sit outside in summer in NYC. However, Serra is over-priced. A prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella platter cost $28 and had three very thin slices of meat and a small amount of cheese. Crazy.
Such a cool spot!! Great drinks great food loved the vibe!!!!
Food was meh, but that is to be expected from eataly. Prices were average for the area. Nothing too exciting. Service was okay. Waiter/drinks took a while to arrive to the table. The bar seemed packed and the bartender himself looked in the weeds. Barback was in the distance drinking water without helping out the clearly stressed bartender.
Me desilusiono . Tenía más expectativas del lugar. No volvería. El servicio lento.
Had a lovely lunch, food was delicious. It was a bit hot as no air conditioner, only fans.
Bellissima esperienza e grande atmosfera.
Good food, beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. Service was ok
The ambience was great. Loved the atmosphere! Food was mediocre.
I’d recommend Serra for drinks but the menu was so limited. Nice place very loud. Good drinks, nice for apps.
It was a very hot afternoon so it was a bit tough to eat outside. The views were limited which is not what I expected from a rooftop restaurant
Service was pretty slow, our bill was high even though we only had drinks and appetizers and it was way too hot to enjoy lunch on a summer day. Wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to come here during the summer months.
