Ok- this was the second time that I've eaten here and third time that I've been here. It's just NOT worth it. There's a difference between 'expensive' and 'over-priced'. This falls into the latter. I've lived in NY for over a decade and I get the pricing but this is out of control. It's on a rooftop of Eataly (without a view -by the way) and they act like they have run out of food. For example, $18 for Bruschetta of the day?? Well, it was literally two pieces of half burn bread with some artichokes on top. So -- in short, it's pretty and worth walking in for a second but there are a dozen better places within a block to eat and drink. Take a pic - post to Instagram and then go somewhere else.
The space is worth going in itself. It's absolutely stunning. The food was fantastic. It's a bit small for what you pay for, but it was delicious nonetheless. This is one of those places that you see on Instagram that actually lives up to expectations.
Solid time let’s go!
For those visiting NYC, I definitely recommend Eataly! It's unlike any other market, and has so much to offer. The coffee and desserts are delicious! As for Serra by Birreria, the overall experience / ambiance (very "insta-worthy") was better than the food. The cocktails were fun and creative, but I was disappointed with the menu - which is not gluten-free / lactose-free friendly. In my opinion, the dishes are overpriced for what it was. We are Italian, so maybe our critique is biased - but Serafina in the Meatpacking District has Italian food with more unique dishes for half the price.
Pros: Great rooftop with lots of light and atmosphere & Friendly service. Albeit a limited menu, the food was very good.
Cons: No actual "view" and No "brunch" items offered, chairs/seats could be more comfortable (wooden chairs and/or steel bar stools)
Food was delicious and it was a beautiful restaurant however, it really felt as if they wanted to rush you out of the restaurant. You had to order everything at once and all of the courses came out one right after another. Not my preferred dining option for the price point but it’s a good experience. Maybe just for cocktails next time.
I had made a reservation about a month prior, but we still had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, which was a little odd. They have a really fast turnaround of tables there though, it’s kind of crazy. We were seated next to this couple who only wanted to order drinks and they were kicked out like 5 minutes later because the tables reserved for those who were ordering food. They had waited for the table for about an hour and I think there was a big miscommunication somewhere. Minutes later, a new couple was seated there. There is a nice bar there, although it needs more seats, there’s only about 13 stools so most people wound up standing around cocktail tables. The bar is great if you like wine, or bitters. I was really disappointed with the cocktail selection. I don’t like wine so I settled with sparkling water. For dinner we ordered the wagyu beef skewers (10/10), the bread with butter (10/10) and I got the pork shoulder (7/10, very fatty, mustard very overwhelming) my boyfriend got the wagyu steak (8/10, very chewy but flavor was excellent). No dessert for us, we went home to eat Valentine’s Day candy. Waiter was really nice, and attentive enough for the fact that the place was packed. Stunning place, really unique setting. Quite pretty. Had a great time, would definitely visit again. (I love Eataly, which is why I wanted to check the restaurant.) I definitely want to visit in the summer. I have to say, this place is well climate-controlled. It was about 30 degrees outside and it was quite warm in there (probably due to the 150+ bodies). Doesn’t feel like a rooftop really, you sort of forget you’re on the 14th floor.
Delicious food. Small portions. Kind of pricey. Great ambiance and service was very good.
Good food. Waiter person was friendly but the service was very slow. They need to be more organized when they seat customers there’s none to take your order for a long time
We saw a couple that left after being sat and no approached them for water, drinks
Disappointed with my experience here. This was a restaurant I had wanted to try for 6 months. I finally was able to get a reservation that fit into my Saturday plans. We took the train down to the city and were excited to check it out. The ambiance is the only thing that did not disappoint. The decor is beautiful, however you sit 3 inches away from the next table. It also took near 20 minutes for the waiter to come to the table. I tried to order a drink through the person who was serving us water but he said I would have to wait for the server. It took so long for him to come over that we had to order our food to go as we had something scheduled for 2.5 hours after our restaurant reservation. I thought that’d be enough time to eat lunch - but not at this restaurant. Finally, when the food came I had a bite and mine was drenched in salt. My partner ordered his steak medium rare and it came to him charred and clearly overcooked. When we let the waiter know, he was willing to take one entree of the bill. I did not have enough time to sit and wait for them to remake it, as they had already took very long, therefore I left lunch late and hungry. For the price we paid to eat here, we were thoroughly disappointed, will not be coming back and will not be recommending to anyone.
Best not to go on a holiday or special occasion. Too many tables not enough waiters. Everything seemed rushed, the waiters had so many tables they barely had time to take the order without needing to run off and I do mean run. Wouldn't recommend.
Location was initially difficult to find (go into market!) but atmosphere was amazing, food and drink great and staff exceptional. Great night out
Family reunion with family from Australia today
Images on website are very misleading. We expected something comparable to the delicious food at Eataly, but everything was a bit bland and overall mediocre.
Focaccia was cold, our meals were very salty, and our meals were over priced for the amount of food we got.
Great restaurant and an amazing setting. The food was better than I expected and I enjoyed every part of the night.
Food amazing server kept rolling eyes never smiled.
We were soooo disappointed. Besides how pretty it was, there was nothing special about anything. The food was mediocre, the waiter aloof, no reason to go back.
Disappointing. Food lacked flavour, portions were very small and prices big. It was also extremely loud and we had to yell to speak to each other. Server was very kind. Will not go back
Food wasn't wow factor. Dessert and drinks were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone to go at least once for the space! It was magical.
The food was cold and the service incredibly slow. All of our dishes came out at separate times. We spent money on the bread appetizer to than be given free bread anyways before the meal (But after the drinks and appetizer had already been finished). Beautiful restaurant but very disappointing experience.
From the moment we got sat, it seemed like no one wanted to serve us. We waited about 15 minutes before getting our drink order taken. That was the only time we saw our server and when we got our check. Food came out pretty fast, wish there was a larger selection of food. Ambiance was nice.
The service and food were amazing!
I arrived 3 min late , they told me I was late and gave my table away
I waited for another. The food was great!! But the noise level was terrible. Overall it was ok, but I would try another in the future
Yummy food! Great place in beautiful location!
Sorry but not great. Food was just ok, service was non-existent. Beautiful venue.
Beautiful restaurant. Food was delicious 🤤 and service was good and waiters took care of their tables. Definitely will come back there. Plus go there for Happy Hour 5-7
Was very excited to try this restaurant. Went on the final night of restaurant week and having been to numerous restaurants at this time, I’ve always had great experiences and have ultimately returned. I cannot say this for Serra. My entree would be more accurately described as baby food. There was not one solid piece of anything on my plate. I honestly think babyfood would have tasted nicer. Overall a very disappointing experience.
We arrived for a reservation at 5:30 and were seated immediately. Our server was cheerful and efficient. The restaurant week menu was a great value. The appetizer of fried cauliflower was our favorite, the panna cotta was incredible. The paired wines were perfection. What a beautiful spot on the roof of EATALY. We can't wait to come again!
As always, Serra does not disappoint. We went for restaurant week but decided to order off the regular menu because we wanted the gnocchi.... and was perfection! The food is top notch as it always is.
Terrible. Expensive and poor food.
I loved the ambience but the service was slow and the food was just OK. Our meals were not very hot as if they had sat there for a while.
Very pretty - polenta with truffles very rich- enjoyable with wine pairings - casual
Sorry, I was disappointed that a glass of wine was expensive
and that the choices for RW weren't great and it wasn't three courses.
My friend and I came here for NYU Restaurant Week because we have a college student budget, and opportunities like these are far and few in between. We definitely weren't disappointed! Not only is the restaurant beautiful (I mean, come on, rooftop?), but the staff were friendly as well. The food was great, and it came so quickly too. We'll definitely come back next year for Restaurant Week again!
We were really excited to be on the roof top of eatily, but I will not be going back. The service was horrible and the restaurant was empty so there was no excuse for being busy. Some of the food was forgotten and we were charged for it anyway. The waiter recommended a wine and was supposed to bring a taste but instead brought a glass so we drank it. Maybe it was my fault for not asking but her brought the most expensive wine on the menu. The bread tasted stale and was freezing cold. NYC has great dining and I’m upset that I wasted my time here.
Food was delicious. Not too expensive. Waiter will take forever to get back to you. Make sure you order everything in one shot
As if Eatly couldn't get any better - everything about Serra is perfect!
Portions were small, but good. Except the polenta dish, I would not order that again.
Beautiful ambiance but subpar food and service.
