Parking is easy in the evenings and on the weekends. Weekdays are more difficult.

I had the Ahi Tuna and it was fantastic. Their Pimm's Cup is also perhaps the best I've ever had. My brunch date was having trouble handling the spiciness of her bloody mary, and they brought her a new one. The acoustics of the space result in it being pretty noisy, but I would gladly go back any time. Hope to try some more things on the menu!
My son and I had a good weekend brunch there. We arrived very early to our reservation and they were able to seat us without too much of a wait. I loved the variety and options, and the donut appetizers. (Who doesn't love donuts as a brunch appetizer??!?) It was crowded and a bit loud but a good dining experience overall.
The service was absolutely fantastic. The waitress was extremely amiable and knowledgeable and answered any and all questions we had about the food. The food itself was flavorful and o so perfectly cooked. The beef shank melted in your mouth, the scallops hit you upside the face with their flavor, and the fried chicken was tender and soft with the perfect glazed crunch on the outside. The piece de resistance here however are the cocktails. Every single one was absolute perfection, quite possibly the best cocktails I've ever had. The desserts were also quite amazing and flavorful. Overall would highly recommend and will definitely be coming again.
This restaurant located in my favorite area-dogpatch. I actually found this place accidentally. Once me and my friend were trying to go to aina which is so popular and we have to wait 2 hours for brunch. We were so hungry so I said lets find somewhere else. Then we walked to Serpentine, and found there's not many people here. But the restaurant looks so cute, so we decided to eat here. Then we were amazed by the great food! I've been a little bit selfish about this place, cuz I don't want it to be so popular so that I don't have to wait in the line for brunch. But the food here is really amazing tho, I still want to share this with every one else!
Menu in the restaurant was different from online (not the latest), and food was rather bland. Service wasn't very friendly, and even though the restaurant was almost empty they seemed annoyed that we were still sitting there (at 8:45pm) when our reservation was at 6:45pm.
Fabulous as always! One of my favorite restaurants to go to with a friend to catch up! We love the french fries (yea, I know) as an appetizer...slightly crisp, favorable, aioli sauce on the side; lightly salted with parsley flakes - Yum! Entrees are always interesting and favorable - this time I had the scallops (moist, cooked to perfection) and my friend had the spicy-honey fried chicken. So good, she barely let me taste it! Desserts looked fabulous, but alas we could eat no more.
We made lunch reservations but ended up getting there an hour earlier; although they didn't have an available table at the time, the bar seating were so we ended up sitting there. The bartender was very friendly, attentive, and provided a great service while there. The food was amazing! It was quirky take on American brunch cuisine and it was great!
I don't frequent the Dogpatch often but my date does, so she recommended Serpentine. We made a late dinner reservation (930pm) for a recent Friday night and arrived to find the restaurant about two thirds full and the other patrons' susurrus was minimal. I'm hopeful the acoustics are as much to do with this as folks remembering not to shout their conversations.
The host was gracious, seated us quickly and her warm welcome at the gateway is for me always the first important marker of a fine dining experience.
Our waitperson arrived soon thereafter to greet us, inquire about drinks or water, and had the even temperament of one who has been in food service for a while -- attentive, arriving at opportune times, patient, and helpful with menu questions and recommendations.
My date ordered a zinfandel and I the NOLA Old Fashioned. I prefer mine a wee-bit drier, but I think perhaps my craft cocktail tastes are turning away from sweet, so this one was more than serviceable and my date liked it immensely even though she doesn't prefer whisky.
As a fish-and-chipocrite, there were enough vegetarian and fish selections for my date an I to each choose a main dish to share. We skipped the starters and sides and instead split the main plate of veggies. For our mains, also shared between us, we had the mahi mahi and dumplings.
I found all three dishes delicious. Presentation and plating was lovely without being precious, and the flavors of each were well-balanced, complemented each other, while still remaining distinct. I've found mahi mahi a difficult dish to cook well and there's a sweet spot for temperature and internal/external texture and tenderness. Serpentine's chef got it just right. The dumplings were perfection, not too doughy or heavy, and the mixture of ingredients -- early fall squash, pecan, fig, pt reyes blue, balsamic butter, fennel -- alchemically pleasing.
I'll be back.
First time we'd been back since the renovation. The restaurant looks more polished and the food matched the upgrades. The new floor is beautiful and the added windows connecting the interior to the street are a huge plus! Burger was de-lish and so was the wine braised short ribs.
Lovely place to have lunch before visiting the Museum of Craft and Design which is a real treasure nearby. Food was quite good...especially the burger. Wait staff was prompt and attentive without being invasive...Have had dinner here also which was delicious.
We were lucky to have brunch at Serpentine. The waitstaff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. And, the huevos rancheros are the best I’ve ever had, different and great — ditto the amazing bloody Marys, with shaved who knows what and a housemade mix guaranteed to delight. Try crackerjack pancakes too. Arrghhh. I wanna be there now!!! The grade? 100% and then some. It was my first time there. I can’t wait to return for dinner (I hope sometime soon!).
First time at Serpentine and went for Brunch on a Sunday. Short line at 11:30 but we had reservations. By the time we left at 1:00pm there was a line and nearly every seat filled. Waitress was comfortable with us enjoying coffee and donuts before ordering. Food was delicious - good portion size. Suggest ordering the bread basket for the table also.
First time here and I enjoyed it and would come again. Well prepared dishes on a relatively focused (meaning not elaborate or lengthy) menu that is "Southern leaning" but certainly California-ized...I had fried chicken and greens, which is about a Southern as it gets, but the preparation was definitely not typical southern, but in a good way (greens were not over cooked into greyness - I am from the south). Wife had sword fish (not southern at all) but it was served on a bed of black eyed peas (very southern). Short wine list but decent selections. Good.
Loved this place pre-reno and it has just gotten better since Chef Tommy took over and re-did the interior! It looks so great inside and the food is even more delicious! I have been for all meals and everything is good, pair it with a hand crafted cocktail or the summer shandy and you've got yourself one of the best restaurants in SF!
We live in the neighborhood and have dined at Serpentine several times over the last 5 years and unfortunately tonights dinner experience was below par... we were happy to see the new renovation with more booth tables and that was good. Also the cocktails were amazing and inventive. The oyster appetizer was good. But unfortunately things went downhill from there... the menu looks amazing but didn't meet our expectations. The short rib entree looked good but it was overcooked and the mushrooms tasted like they were sautéed in rancid oil. The scallops were ok but not special. The fried chicken was wonderful. And the requested medium rare burger was overcooked but still tasty. The bottle of red wine was so warm we requested an ice bucket to bring it to a better wine drinking temperature. Nice that they provided complimentary desserts which were wonderful. But overall not the same great experience we've known Serpentine to provide. Hopefully this was just an "off" night with staff, wine, and food. For a $350 meal for 4, we just expected better. It's a vibrant location in Dog Patch if you can find parking.
Service was horrible and very slow
First of all waitress brought still water even though I ordered sparkling water
Well that's not big deal, so I took it
But then we waited 25-30minutes for appetizer but main dishes arrived.
So we told we ordered appetizer and still waiting
We waited another 15minutes or so for our appetizer.
We ordered dessert because it was my birthday and we waited sooo long again and my ice cream was half melted when I got served
I wanted to send it back but I didn't because I didn't want to wait another 15minutes
Waitress gave us 10% discount but this was not acceptable. I didn't raise my voice because I didn't want to ruin my birthday dinner and make my husband feel bad choosing this restaurant.
Anyway this was very disappointing birthday dinner for me.
I chose Serpentine because friends and I were going to see a show at Midway SF. We arrived early and enjoyed some fabulous cocktails at the bar before our table was ready. Each drink almost looked too pretty to drink and my hat's off to the bartender who provided ample alcohol in each drink. I enjoy getting tipsy on one drink (and that doesn't happen in SF too often). For dinner, two of us got the short ribs, which did NOT disappoint. Fell apart to the touch, the chanterelle mushrooms was a nice touch. I will happily be back for that short rib soon
