The restaurant has a unique mission; to eat well and do good. The mission of Sérénité is to instill leadership skills in men and women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction through an education in the culinary arts.
Our aim is to change the face of recovery through food and hospitality.
Staff was very friendly, service was slow. We ordered from the pre fixe menu and one of our meals (chicken) was not cooked. They took it back after a fairly long wait for our server to check in with us, and then presented me with the same piece of cut up chicken, now cooked, but inedible because it was so tough. An airline chicken breast is usually so good, so that was a bummer. So, I had no entrée, just the sides. Dessert was creme brulle...it was a very thin offering, barely thick enough to cover the bottom of the dish! When the check came, it was surprising that they had charged us for the meal even though I had no entree...after asking they did remove the charge for one of our meals, and gave me a free glass of wine, but I would have preferred having a meal.
I love the concept of this restaurant and understand it is a training program, and fully expected the service to reflect that...but I don't think we will have dinner at this spot again. Issue resolution needs attention. We do have a remaining balance on our gift card, so I will try lunch next time. Otherwise I would not go back.
The concept behind this restaurant begs us all to take a step back and help someone in need. The service was outstanding. The only complaint was the bar got backed up and the second drink came slow. My rack of lamb was excellent. Cooked to perfection. It came with couscous which I am not a fan of ( no fault of the restaurant, my fault for not asking to sub for it.) We sat right by the speaker so the music was a little loud, but they were very attentive when asked to turn it down. This is easily the best restaurant in Medina, Ohio. I wouldn’t just recommend it. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
This restaurant is a gem The wait staff are all recovering from some form of addiction. It's a wonderful program they are doing.
Now about the excellent restaurant. The food is excellent as well as the service. Management knocks themselves out to be sure that your visit as well as the service and food are top-notch. This was our second and not our last visit.
What's not to like about this wonderful restaurant? Don't miss the Banana's Foster.
We dined here for our 6th wedding anniversary. You could tell our server was nervous but he did a good job overall. Our soup/salad came out just after our appetizer which they offered to get us fresh when we were ready but it worked out well as the soup was perfect eating temperature. Husband got the lamb which was cooked perfectly and I had the duck which could have used just a touch more rendering of the fat but it was otherwise very good. We shared the creme brulee for desert which was a bit over "bruleed" but still delicious. We would definitely come back to support this companies mission. Music was a bit loud, otherwise the ambiance was nice.
If you are not pretentious, you like long conversations, and you’ve traveled to France — don’t miss this gem.
Edwin’s equivalent, served with midwestern understated excellence.
We couldn't have had a better dining experience. Our waiter, Rich, was extremely attentive and pleasant. Food was outstanding and the wine list was extensive, particularly for a small town in the heartland of Ohio. We were just passing through and really had no expectations, but I would definitely put Serenite on par with many of other large metro restaurants we have dined in. We hope to be able to visit again.
Enjoyed the 3/$33 meal. French onion soup was not too salty, just the right amount of cheese and the bread-so yummy. A mouthwatering Angus beef filet 9very thick and so tender) then to top it off, vanilla bean crème brulee with a crispy topping. A+! Richard was our server and has been there for 4 years. He came into the recovery program and is now in charge of lunch and assisting in training those starting on the program. Not only is the food and service outstanding (waiters are in formal attire), but the mission of this restaurant is unlike anything I have been to. Giving back to those who want to make a difference in their lives be getting "clean" while the patrons enjoy a wonderful meal-what can be better?
I must say, our server Jason did an excellent job, especially if you could see he was very nervous. He had a huge job handling the dining room, crowded for a Wednesday night. He rose to the occasion spectacularly.
We had a wonderful time, and enjoyed a relaxed dinner never feeling rushed to make room for the next guests.
Several other employees checked on us through our marvelous dinners.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed his rack of lamb as I did my filet.
Our dinners were excellent and we enjoyed the white linen tablecloths and general ambiance. The service was not as professional as hoped for, but perhaps the servers are still in training. There was no hostess available when I entered (despite my reservation ahead of time) and there were times when the waitress seemed unsure of procedures. She was very friendly and helpful when asked. The prices were rather high, but the chef did a wonderful job.
Birthday celebration. Great time and great service!
Wendy was a terrific server. Very knowledgeable. Food was excellent except duck breast sauce which was pretty nondescript. Having said that, that is just the tiniest issue. It was great and we will be back.
Very quaint. Service was excellent. Large potions. Excellent mussels.
My lunch at Serenite was wonderful. I had the Salad Nicoise and the fish of the day with asparagus.
Hands down the best meal and dining experience we have had recently. Staff was excellent and extremely personable which enhanced the experience.
Great food. Great service. They go above and beyond. Take the time also to know their diners
Excellent French cooking.Superior service. Always a good experience.
Food, Service...Everything was excellent! We will be back again. Thank you!!!
My wife and I love this place. We always take our friends here to try it. We have never had a bad meal or service here. Will also be one of our go to places.
Everything was very nice and to be expected. We’ve dined many times and it’s always consistently good. The chef does a great job and we always appreciate his creativity!
Reservation was made with ease online. Our table was ready and Steve, our server, was knowledgeable and attentive. We went for lunch and thought the quality, quantity, and price were excellent. We'll definitely be returning.
Enjoyed our visit and food, staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit and exploring more of the menu. Note: the artichoke appetizer was wonderful!
It was our first time at Serenite and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the
service very attentive. Bradford, the manager, went out of his way to make sure I would like the
Caesar dressing for the salad but giving samples of it as well as 2 others before bringing the
salad. We will definitely come again.
Really enjoyed our lunch meal - the french onion soup is superb, a standout. The salmon rillettes is a little bland. All served very nicely.
The only thing that was really disappointing is the coffee - yuck!
We both had the baked brie and a codfish special for lunch. I had a glass of Cab Sov with mine. Service was prompt, staff were friendly, food was good and served hot out of the kitchen. I will be back here, if they stay open for lunches.
Our star rating says it all. This is our go-to place for a great meal in the SW suburban area of Cleveland.
Love this place. Food is always excellent and everyone is always do nice.
Everything was wonderful!
Great food - attentive wait staff. I enjoyed hearing about their mission.
Staff was extremely polite, and had great knowledge of the menu. I had multiple staff members asking how our meal was, if we needed anything, etc. Food had great flavor, and was well displayed. This is a true gem in the heart of Medina. I would recommend everyone to go here!
This was our second lunch visit and everything was terrific. Richard and manager did great job.
Great service and the food was very good. I had the salmon. The sauce it was in was great. We had the cheese for an appetizer and they did an amazing job with that tableside. The bananas foster was prepared tableside and was outstanding. Great night out and I love their mission. Wait staff was very professional.
The food and service is always very good. We always enjoy dining at this restaurant.
Scott and I had a wonderful dinner and celebrated his birthday is style. We started with the goat cheese tart. He had steak and salad. I had bouillabaisse. The staff surprised us with begneits to heighten the celebration.
Four of us dined on a Wednesday evening. For appetizers, we shared the charcuterie (loved the duck terrine) and and an order of oysters, each appetizer was excellent. We each had a different entre. The rabbit was good and the cream sauce heavenly. Rack of lamb cooked perfectly with abundant au jus and couscous. Salmon was excellent with herbed cream sauce. Duck breast was tender, morel demi-glaze scrumptious. Topped off the evening by sharing an order of Bananas Foster done tableside which was also excellent. Serenite offers the best French food in the area served by very friendly, courteous staff in a beautiful location.
We went to Serenite for a birthday dinner. As always, it was a great experience.
Serenite was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in recent memory. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The decor was relaxing and comfortable. It was quiet the entire time we were there.
There were three of us, we all had the duck breast and agreed it was among the best we have had. The sides were fresh and tasty. We shared an excellent chocolate dessert. The wine selection was varied both in style and price.
I will definitely return and will spread the word. Serenite has become one of my favorite restaurants.
The service was exceptional. You will never be treated as well as you will be at Serenite!
The table with it's white table clothes looked classy and we found it quite comfortable.
We had the luncheons and the menu was delightful and portions exactly right. I had the Nicois salad which was full of marinated vegetables and grilled chicken.
It would have been nice to have fresh bread with it.
We thoroughly appreciated the chef showing us how to make banana foster.
All in all a delightful luncheon topped only with our mannerly and attentive waiter.
