Delicious food ,very nice and polite staff.i love everything on the menu. Its one of the best restaurants in new jersey.
Decadent ambiance, refreshing staff hospitality, and exquisite cuisine - enough said. Truly a wonderful experience.
A beautiful birthday dinner. Our waiter Jose was attentive, amiable and knowledgeable. The table attendant was wonderful as well. A 20 year Serenade veteran, it was comforting to see her
again. The sour dough rolls were wonderfully sour..
Our entrees were superb, I had the chicken which had the crispy skin as promised and moist on the inside. My husband's mega Berkshire pork chop was cooked to perfection and had the right amount of chew. Neither of us could finish our entree and were happy to doggie bag it.
Dessert was too tempting to refuse and we had the banana caramel cake. Delicious, very sweet and worth every calorie but the accompanied sweet caramel ice cream was too much of a good thing and a scoop of vanilla would have been better for my taste. The Happy Birthday cookie was a very nice surprise as well as the plate of home made candies.
The atmosphere and service was great. However, one of the specials of the we ordered was disappointing. It was very fatty and difficult to eat. For the amount of money we spent it was not worth it.
Serena de es siempre una excelente opción en la zona para una cena agradable en cuanto a ambiente y exquisita. Los sábados tienen un menú fijo que cuenta con riquísimas opciones para todos los gustos.
Food was excellent . However the Bar was very slow..We did not get our drinks until we were well into our appetizers. The waiter kept giving us his apologies
Awesome place and well deserved of being on the Top 25 of NJ Magazine. From the exterior it doesn't look too spectacular but the interior space was beautifully decorated and felt very cozy. The service was outstanding as the entire wait staff treated as very well. The food is outstanding, well plated and perfect portion size. The cocktail drinks were just so so, but other than that, we were extremely happy with this place and definitely a return visit is in the near future. On my top 3 list of restaurants in NJ.
Serenade never disappoints
The service was impecable. The variety of food was perfect for a lunch meeting, And the price was moderate. We were allowed to take our time prior to ordering and after our lunch. A very nice experience.
great service! food is excellent!
Nice ambiance but completely too expensive for what it is. About 50 per entree and you are left non satisfied. Food does not justify the price. Drinks are about a shots worth with a large block of ice, 13 dollars for a shot, also not worth it. Service is mainly good. Would not return. Too many other places to try.
Post valentine dinner. Arrived in a snowstorm. Dinner reservation was 8:30. Sat right away. My husband loved the lobster soup. Raved for days. I had the grilled octopus appetizer. Over cooked and way too many potatoes. After we ordered dinner we noticed people around us being served food that wasn't on the menu. Our waiter told us that it was from a different bar menu. We didn't know that was an option and never saw one. He brought over some of the items we asked about. When our dinner came. The rack of lamb was delicious. The halibut was too salty and sent back. Dessert was amazing.
The room we sat in was very noisy and it was difficult to hear each other.
Always love going here. The service is outstanding. The dishes are all wonderful. We had the filet and the halibut special. Both were perfect! They have wonderful bread as well as homemade popcorn for the gluten-free peeps in your party. This will cost ~$75/person at a minimum. A bit pricey but nice for a special occasion.
Service was perfect, food was delicious and beautifully presented. The lamb meatballs are out of this world! It’s always a pleasure to dine at Restaurant Serenade!
Food was not bad, just not impressive. The overall experience was very underwhelming.
Excellent. Our server/hostess was a step above - very nice, efficient, and knowledgeable- without being pretentious.
I have no words to describe my experience at Serenade but I will try. This restaurant is one of the most beautiful and cozy upscale restaurants I have been to in Jersey. Everything felt right for our Valentine's Day dinner. From the beginning, you get complimentary Valet parking and then you are greeted by professional hostesses who take your coats and direct you to your seats. The ambiance is something to talk about. The seating area are spaced apart in a way where you feel like it is just you and your date there. Everything screams romance and everyone I saw in our section were couples which was great. The servers were beyond professional and you can tell they cared for their jobs. Our waiter's name was Mariano and he is awesome. The food was great and well made (you could tell the chef/owner takes time to create each recipe). The wine list was great and the dessert, OMG the dessert was spectacular. The restaurant owner and staff put so much value and love into this place that you can feel it when you walk in. We sat next to two other couples and the whole night we all chatted together as if we were old friends. That is what a restaurant that makes you feel taken care of can do to you. I recommend this to every and anyone and I cannot wait to return during the spring/summer time so that I can really enjoy the ambiance and menu. By the way we also met the chef/owner. One of the couples next to us has a little boy and the chef took him on a tour in the kitchen and when he was done, he came to our table to chat with us. That was the icing on the cake.
This is a NYC style restaurant. We came with friends for dinner at 6pm on a Saturday night. You enter near the bar, which was crowded and noisy. It's a tight space and you need to maneuver to the coat check and restrooms. We had a table in the upstairs loft, which was less noisy. Our waiter was good, but didn't gauge when to come by. Instead, he just interrupted to do what he needed to do. We asked if we could chat a bit after the meal, and he said 5 minutes. The other waiter, hearing this, said stay as long as you want. The menu is creative with healthy options. The selections are familiar, but prepared with a twist and some flair. The presentation is lovely. My selections --- the pumpkin soup with chestnut garnish and the organic chicken were tasty. My husband had the fish, which he said was okay. Our friends loved their choices, which included the short rib tortellini appetizer and the tuna entree. The bread included sourdough rolls (unfortunately, I hate sourdough), and potato rolls and biscuits, which were nice. The drinks are well prepared and presented. The wine list is extensive. I've been to Restaurant Serenade many times before, and have even hosted business luncheons and dinners there. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, but it very much depends on what you're looking for. We prefer a more sedate atmosphere, which was not the case on a Saturday night. A weekday night is more manageable. But, if you're looking for upscale and elegant, this is a nice choice, although pricey. Reservations are a must.
Disappoint experience all around. Given the reviews and the pricing I had high hopes for this restaurant. We were seated for ten minutes before anyone came over with a drink menu. When someone did, we had assumed he was a sommelier because he came with the wine list and didn’t identify who he was. The wine list was absurd. Very few good wines at a reasonable price point. We asked for a few recommendations for a flavor profile similar to a wine on the list that we really like but didn’t want to order becusse we have it all the time and were looking for something different. The only similarly in the wine was the price— the wine recommended was almost tasteless. Horrible recommendation with no similarity whatsoever to the wine we used as a comparison. We assumed this guy was a sommelier but turned out he was a server. He should have recommended we speak to the sommelier.... but I’m guessing there wasn’t one because I didn’t see anyone talking to any tables about wine.
Food— I ordered the salad which was a special and it was very salty. Disappointing to say the least. I asked for a filet medium well closer to well. I did this because I find in fine dining restaurants chefs are opposed to cooking a steak anything but rare. In most steakhouses when I order this way, they suggest a medium it butterflied and it works every time. That didn’t happen here... I got an overly well done steak that was so dry I drank an entire bottle of pelligrino. And the minimal accompanying sauce didn’t do anything to help out.
We waited forever for our check.
We wanted to have a drink at the bar but it was too crowded. Not a pleasant atmosphere to end dinner so we just left
Needless to say, we won’t be going back
Cozy ambiance, top-notch service, and delicious food makes Serenade an excellent restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, we'll be back!
Not a fan of prefix restaurants...Serenade has an extensive menu and large portions I give this restaurant five stars
One of my favs : doesn’t disappoint . Bar area cozy for drinks and lighter fare . Dining is always special
Service was excellent and food was delicious. The perfect dirty martini.
This is truly a special jewel. It has been at the top of the list for NJ fine dining for many years and is consistently superb. The quality of the food is always top notch, the service typically strong, and the atmosphere very comfortable. The mark of greatness is consistency- Seranade hits that mark.
the food is VERY GOOD, I said outstanding in the review above. i spent almost $300 on the tasking menu for 2 people, with wine pairing. Consider everything GREAT expect for the following; it was very noisy, it is like you are in bar in terms of noise level. I have been to Le Bernardin, Scalini Fedeli, Per Se, etc. This is the noisiest. I know it is Saturday night and it is jam packed even at 8pm. I know they would not want to reduce the tables, but if they could invest in adding sound absorbing carpeting, wall covering maybe it would help.
Service I had James who was very, very nice explained each wine for each pairing. However service was rushed partly by him but generally too. I had to ask the Bread person 3x for a 2nd serving. She was running around from table to table and forgotten each time i asked. One course, the lamb was brought by the kitchen staff(i think..person wearing complete white), i guess James was busy, but in any case because James did not bring the meal, the wine pairing was missed. It took at least 5 minutes for me to see him and stop him, He apologized and brought the wine. These are the things that when you are spending $300 for 2 people should Never Happen !. I would suggest they add at least a few more Server type people to slow and even out the service
Charming place in downtown Chatham. Small Prix fixe menu with tasty options. Short rib tortellini appetizer was delicious.
Serenade is a great neighborhood restaurant with an upscale feel, so works for business, but also casual enough for a low key get together with friends. Wine list is good for a neighborhood restaurant and food is always good.
We are usually good for one or two meals a year at Serenade. We celebrated my birthday last week and opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings and as usual they didn't disappoint. limited courses make for a heartier meal with diverse tastes in both the food and wine. Service as always was impeccable!! If you haven't yet dined there I highly recommend it, especially for a BIG occasion.
The food and wine at Serenade are always great and we have been going there for years. One quibble I do have is that the service was less than expected for such an expensive meal. We ordered the market tasting menu with wine pairings and for each course there was a 5-10 minute difference between when the food came out and when the wine pairing was served. The coordination of the food and the wine are important in order to enjoy such a meal. Our soup was going cold while waiting for the first wine and then for the second course our wine came way ahead of the food. And so on. With a two ounce pour it is difficult to manage that as a customer and frankly we shouldn’t have to.
Fine dining beautifully served good selection very pretty place overall great..
The service overall was very good, with the exception managing the two undercooked fish entrees we ordered (must have been the chef's first day attempting to cook seafood). I chose to not have the same piece of fish returned to the pan, and my wife accepted the offer to "cook it the rest of the way" (is twice cooked fish a French technique?). Dropping over $100 per person for my family of four, I'd fully expect my waiter to simply apologize and say, "let me bring you a new entree". Instead, I was able to eat the cooked ends of the filet while my children ate their meals and my wife sat there awkwardly with no food in front of her. Then we all got to watch her eat her entree that was returned once the rest of us were finished. Lots of potential - big miss on ensuring a top tier experience. Not sure we'll be back.
We had a very early reservation (because that was all we could get) to have dinner with a couple we had not seen for many years and, before we new it, we had been there for four hours. We never felt rushed, the food was excellent, and the service was really good. I think all four of us were very pleased with our choice of Serenade.
Serenade is perfection. Service is always impeccable. It’s been around for a long time. It’s fine dining with a casual atmosphere. Everyone is out of their way genuinely kind.
Food and service were impeccable. We will be back
Serenade has consistently given us wonderful meals and wonderful evenings. The setting and decor are lovely, the ENTIRE waitstaff is very competent, very professional, and provide a rare level of service that is very much appreciated. Every dish on the menu is a delight and very artfully presented. This IS ABSOLUTTELY a DO NOT MISS restaurant !!!
Wonderful meal, excellent food, knowledgeable and attentive staff. No complaints, no overdrawn amount of time waiting...perfectly timed.
Food was excellent - harvest soup and short rib tortellini were excellent, and as others have said, the lamb rack was a hit.... very quiet (it was early Tuesday evening), but a very nice ambiance overall....
Another wonderful luncheon experience at Serenade.
The service professional and accommodating. The food delicious & beautifully presented.
Looking forward to returning more often!!!
We were there for our new year's eve dinner. It was a prefixed menu. The appetizer sampler and our second course were excellent. The main entrees (Fish, Beef and Lamb) were comme ci comme ca, nothing outstanding. The dessert sampler was good. The wines selected by the restaurant for pairing was okay...could be better. Overall, a good place for decent french food.
Food and service was excellent as always. The only complaint we have is that the ambiance of fine dining is not enhanced by a bare wood table, sans linen tablecloth. This was standard in the past but sadly absent now.
The food and service are always good. The decor desperately needs a facelift
