Had a late Sat. evening dinner reservation. The service was attentive and friendly. Bar area is attractive, offset from the main dining and a very pleasant place to wait. The hostess called and offered us an earlier seating. When we arrived, she was not happy with the table selection and unprompted took it upon herself to sit us at a better table. The menu selections were ample for a prix fixe menu. Belatedly we learned the restaurant offers wine parings for the courses which is nice, and I wish that option was pointed out by the server as we would have taken advantage of that. The noise level was surprisingly high in one of the rooms on the main floor which made it difficult to have a quiet conversation. The bottled wine offerings are considerably overpriced. Appetizers were wonderful, but my Beef entrée was noticeably overcooked. I would give this restaurant another try and ask to be seated in a quieter room.
My favorite restaurant for entertaining friends and guests from out of town.
Got to the restaurant at 5:30 for our 5:45 reservation. Not many diners were there yet. We were seated and waited 20 minutes for someone to take our cocktail order. They weren’t busy yet, so this lack of attention was the first sign of trouble. While still drinking that cocktail, our appetizers showed up. I ordered a lovely bottle of red wine and had to nudge the waiter to open it. He asked if we wanted another round of cocktails while we were eating our appetizers. No-the wine was picked for appetizer and main entre. My entre arrived, yet I didn’t have any cutlery and had to wait several minutes for it, even though I tried to get a server...any servers attention-without avail. Had to pour our own wine as well...overall I don’t mind doing this, but the head waiter commented to me that I shouldn’t be pouring it myself, it should be done for us. Food was great, it’s a shame the service was poor. We were seated in a small room where the servers congregate. No one seemed to know what they were doing.
Lobster entree was delicious! Enjoyed the meal and the ambiance.
Food is great, service was wonderful. For the price point I have slightly higher expectations, which is why I didn't give 5 stars.
Wonderful birthday dinner!
Everything was amazing!
Great food complimented by friendly, efficient service.
Serenade was delightful. The food is spectacular as always and the service is top notch. Could not have asked for a better team dinner.
Thank You for the wonderful food and service
Perfect for Easter Dinner
Highly recommend this eatery
Food was very good, service was slow and not attentive, especially considering the high prices.
The wines were expensive (comparable to midtown NY prices) without reasonable alternatives.
A beautiful anniversary dinner. From the moment we stepped inside to the moment we left, the service was perfect. We were greeted immediately with smiles, our table was already waiting for us, and we were escorted in. We ordered from the pre-fixe menu, and everything was delicious. We had mentioned in our reservation that it was an anniversary dinner and they treated us to a complimentary dessert plate. Very nice!
Food: Mushroom consomme and crab cake appetizers. We preferred the crab cake, but the consomme was nice and not as salty as they can tend to be. We had lamb and sea bass entrees. VERY good. Licked our plates clean. Dessert, we both had the brownie and they gave us a sorbet and dessert amuse bouche-type plates. It was a great night. Very romantic, and pleasant ambience.
Love, love Serenade. The tortellini appetizer is the perfect bite.
Serenade never disappoints.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere & pleasant staff! Great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Terribly overpriced. 4 people for dinner cost $600 including tip. We could only pick pre fixed menu for $69 a person. The cheapest bottle of wine was $75. Outrageous. This is Chatham not NYC. I won’t go back again if I am paying. Food was good not Fantastic.
One of the best meals I have had this year
The perfect special-occasion meal. One of the best meals we've ever had. Expensive but not outrageous.
Our dinner (califlower and fennel soup and lobster dish) was outstanding. The flavors in both courses were interesting and nuanced. Absolutely delicious and memorable!
Delicious food ,very nice and polite staff.i love everything on the menu. Its one of the best restaurants in new jersey.
Decadent ambiance, refreshing staff hospitality, and exquisite cuisine - enough said. Truly a wonderful experience.
A beautiful birthday dinner. Our waiter Jose was attentive, amiable and knowledgeable. The table attendant was wonderful as well. A 20 year Serenade veteran, it was comforting to see her
again. The sour dough rolls were wonderfully sour..
Our entrees were superb, I had the chicken which had the crispy skin as promised and moist on the inside. My husband's mega Berkshire pork chop was cooked to perfection and had the right amount of chew. Neither of us could finish our entree and were happy to doggie bag it.
Dessert was too tempting to refuse and we had the banana caramel cake. Delicious, very sweet and worth every calorie but the accompanied sweet caramel ice cream was too much of a good thing and a scoop of vanilla would have been better for my taste. The Happy Birthday cookie was a very nice surprise as well as the plate of home made candies.
The atmosphere and service was great. However, one of the specials of the we ordered was disappointing. It was very fatty and difficult to eat. For the amount of money we spent it was not worth it.
Serena de es siempre una excelente opción en la zona para una cena agradable en cuanto a ambiente y exquisita. Los sábados tienen un menú fijo que cuenta con riquísimas opciones para todos los gustos.
Food was excellent . However the Bar was very slow..We did not get our drinks until we were well into our appetizers. The waiter kept giving us his apologies
Awesome place and well deserved of being on the Top 25 of NJ Magazine. From the exterior it doesn't look too spectacular but the interior space was beautifully decorated and felt very cozy. The service was outstanding as the entire wait staff treated as very well. The food is outstanding, well plated and perfect portion size. The cocktail drinks were just so so, but other than that, we were extremely happy with this place and definitely a return visit is in the near future. On my top 3 list of restaurants in NJ.
Serenade never disappoints
The service was impecable. The variety of food was perfect for a lunch meeting, And the price was moderate. We were allowed to take our time prior to ordering and after our lunch. A very nice experience.
great service! food is excellent!
Nice ambiance but completely too expensive for what it is. About 50 per entree and you are left non satisfied. Food does not justify the price. Drinks are about a shots worth with a large block of ice, 13 dollars for a shot, also not worth it. Service is mainly good. Would not return. Too many other places to try.
Post valentine dinner. Arrived in a snowstorm. Dinner reservation was 8:30. Sat right away. My husband loved the lobster soup. Raved for days. I had the grilled octopus appetizer. Over cooked and way too many potatoes. After we ordered dinner we noticed people around us being served food that wasn't on the menu. Our waiter told us that it was from a different bar menu. We didn't know that was an option and never saw one. He brought over some of the items we asked about. When our dinner came. The rack of lamb was delicious. The halibut was too salty and sent back. Dessert was amazing.
The room we sat in was very noisy and it was difficult to hear each other.
Always love going here. The service is outstanding. The dishes are all wonderful. We had the filet and the halibut special. Both were perfect! They have wonderful bread as well as homemade popcorn for the gluten-free peeps in your party. This will cost ~$75/person at a minimum. A bit pricey but nice for a special occasion.
Service was perfect, food was delicious and beautifully presented. The lamb meatballs are out of this world! It’s always a pleasure to dine at Restaurant Serenade!
Food was not bad, just not impressive. The overall experience was very underwhelming.
Excellent. Our server/hostess was a step above - very nice, efficient, and knowledgeable- without being pretentious.
I have no words to describe my experience at Serenade but I will try. This restaurant is one of the most beautiful and cozy upscale restaurants I have been to in Jersey. Everything felt right for our Valentine's Day dinner. From the beginning, you get complimentary Valet parking and then you are greeted by professional hostesses who take your coats and direct you to your seats. The ambiance is something to talk about. The seating area are spaced apart in a way where you feel like it is just you and your date there. Everything screams romance and everyone I saw in our section were couples which was great. The servers were beyond professional and you can tell they cared for their jobs. Our waiter's name was Mariano and he is awesome. The food was great and well made (you could tell the chef/owner takes time to create each recipe). The wine list was great and the dessert, OMG the dessert was spectacular. The restaurant owner and staff put so much value and love into this place that you can feel it when you walk in. We sat next to two other couples and the whole night we all chatted together as if we were old friends. That is what a restaurant that makes you feel taken care of can do to you. I recommend this to every and anyone and I cannot wait to return during the spring/summer time so that I can really enjoy the ambiance and menu. By the way we also met the chef/owner. One of the couples next to us has a little boy and the chef took him on a tour in the kitchen and when he was done, he came to our table to chat with us. That was the icing on the cake.
This is a NYC style restaurant. We came with friends for dinner at 6pm on a Saturday night. You enter near the bar, which was crowded and noisy. It's a tight space and you need to maneuver to the coat check and restrooms. We had a table in the upstairs loft, which was less noisy. Our waiter was good, but didn't gauge when to come by. Instead, he just interrupted to do what he needed to do. We asked if we could chat a bit after the meal, and he said 5 minutes. The other waiter, hearing this, said stay as long as you want. The menu is creative with healthy options. The selections are familiar, but prepared with a twist and some flair. The presentation is lovely. My selections --- the pumpkin soup with chestnut garnish and the organic chicken were tasty. My husband had the fish, which he said was okay. Our friends loved their choices, which included the short rib tortellini appetizer and the tuna entree. The bread included sourdough rolls (unfortunately, I hate sourdough), and potato rolls and biscuits, which were nice. The drinks are well prepared and presented. The wine list is extensive. I've been to Restaurant Serenade many times before, and have even hosted business luncheons and dinners there. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, but it very much depends on what you're looking for. We prefer a more sedate atmosphere, which was not the case on a Saturday night. A weekday night is more manageable. But, if you're looking for upscale and elegant, this is a nice choice, although pricey. Reservations are a must.
Disappoint experience all around. Given the reviews and the pricing I had high hopes for this restaurant. We were seated for ten minutes before anyone came over with a drink menu. When someone did, we had assumed he was a sommelier because he came with the wine list and didn’t identify who he was. The wine list was absurd. Very few good wines at a reasonable price point. We asked for a few recommendations for a flavor profile similar to a wine on the list that we really like but didn’t want to order becusse we have it all the time and were looking for something different. The only similarly in the wine was the price— the wine recommended was almost tasteless. Horrible recommendation with no similarity whatsoever to the wine we used as a comparison. We assumed this guy was a sommelier but turned out he was a server. He should have recommended we speak to the sommelier.... but I’m guessing there wasn’t one because I didn’t see anyone talking to any tables about wine.
Food— I ordered the salad which was a special and it was very salty. Disappointing to say the least. I asked for a filet medium well closer to well. I did this because I find in fine dining restaurants chefs are opposed to cooking a steak anything but rare. In most steakhouses when I order this way, they suggest a medium it butterflied and it works every time. That didn’t happen here... I got an overly well done steak that was so dry I drank an entire bottle of pelligrino. And the minimal accompanying sauce didn’t do anything to help out.
We waited forever for our check.
We wanted to have a drink at the bar but it was too crowded. Not a pleasant atmosphere to end dinner so we just left
Needless to say, we won’t be going back
Cozy ambiance, top-notch service, and delicious food makes Serenade an excellent restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, we'll be back!
Not a fan of prefix restaurants...Serenade has an extensive menu and large portions I give this restaurant five stars
One of my favs : doesn’t disappoint . Bar area cozy for drinks and lighter fare . Dining is always special
