Serenade Ratings and Reviews
We had a friends get together there and were all very pleased with the quality of the food, presentation and selections. The wine list is quite pricey, would like to see more moderately priced wines offered. We will definitely go back for a special occasion or two.
We would of given five stars however dinner was quite rushed. Not that we were looking to spend 4 hours there however we had to tell the staff to wait until we were done with our current course or drinks a few times.
With that said the meal and environment were great
MY ENTREE (TUNA) WAS TO DIE FOR; HOWEVER I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE APPETIZER (GRILLED OCTUPUS) & THE DESSERT (CARROT CAKE.) THE OCTUPUS WAS OVER-COOKED AND CHEWY. THE CARROT CAKE HAD TOO MANY LAYERS RESULTING IN MORE ICING THAN CAKE; AND THE OUTER EDGE OF THE CAKE WAS STALE & DRY.
Great meal, but I thought the service was a bit slow. Local ingredients, carefully prepared and -best of all- tasty in a way that always surprised.
BUT when I go to a top-10 restaurant within 50 miles of NYC, I want service like I get at Bouley or Le Bernardin. I thought the wait stuff was borderline inattentive.
The service was excellent with an attentive, courteous and gracious staff and the ambience is lovely. However, the food was lacking. The burger, which should have been medium, was well done and in fact was charred rendering a burnt taste. The pasta was tasty but the noodles didn't appear homemade or perhaps not freshly made.
We were at a nearby bridal salon with my daughter looking for her wedding dress and decided that Serenade would be a nice choice for dinner after her appointment with the salon as it is one street over.
What a wonderful choice! Impeccable presentations of truly delicious meals prepared with obvious care. The service is fantastic! The restaurant is well staffed with knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and attentive though unobtrusive waitstaff.
A gem in Chatham.
This was the first time at Serenade that we were really not thrilled. They have changed the menu to a forced prix fixe which is more expensive. They had no specials and we struggled to find an option that appealed to my husband. The atmosphere is a bit stuffy. Ultimately we prefer Common Lot in Millburn which is more contemporary, better priced, BYO and has amazing food creativity & preparations.
First, the building, decor and ambiance have a wonderful feel and aesthetic. The dining room is quaint, modern and well appointed. We were a party of 4 and decided on the tasting menu. The tasting menu consisted of 4 courses and a dessert. We opted out of the wine pairing (we stuck with our mixed drinks instead).
The good - the food was delicious as were the mixed drinks. Even the bread had great taste and complexity. The staff that brought the food out was well choreographed.
Room for improvement - our waiter was a bit spacey and not into details. The Mayweather mixed drink, although delicious, was served in a small glass with a huge ice cube and the drink literally consisted of 2 1/2 sips. I returned to my dirty vodka martinis afterwards. The service seemed a bit quick (not rushed but very little time in between courses). The dessert was ice cream. Although good, not what we expected after a 4-course tasting menu and by far the most plentiful dish. As for the tasting menu, other than the soup, the courses were very small (the scallop course consisted of 1 scallop and not even a jumbo one). If the tasting menu were 5 courses or more, I’d understand - but 4 necessitates a bit more of a portion.
Don’t get me wrong, we’d go again but we’d order off the menu. The ambiance and food were excellent. FYI - The bill was $510 without tip and that included 6 mixed drinks.
My first experience here was good but not at this time. I was completely ignored for 40 minutes without being asked by any staffs there. Even though the food was good but I will never come back to this restaurant again for the rest of my life. I have been visited so many Michelin star restaurants in the world and this was the first time I got treat like this. They did not even offer me treat to make il their mistake. Even California Pizza kitchen at Short Hills mall offered me a free dessert when they forgot to make my dessert and i had to wait extra 15 minutes for it. Such a huge disappointment!!!
Wonderful birthday dinner on 8/21/2017. Heirloom tomato salad and filet mignon. The steak was delicious and almost melted in our mouths. They didn't have a cabernet that we had enjoyed 6 months ago, but had a Syrah from the same winery which was excellent (Dunham Cellars, 2012).
