great service, great drinks and the food is always spot on.
Food continues to be what has kept us coming back. We’ve had inconsistency on service and the night was no exception. Hate to feel like I am being rushed, especially after buying a bottle of wine. I’m sure turnover with staff has not helped. I give them credit for the outdoor setup and am happy to see them doing well post covid.
Everything was perfect, we loved it and will be back!!! Thank you!
Beautify restaurant with great service and delicious food!
Food was great. Drinks were great. Swordfish and Berkshire pork were delish. Seating arrangement was a bit weird. It has a big outdoor seating area but they sat everybody right next to each other in on section which makes no sense. And the couple were seated after us got served first, which wouldn’t be a problem if we didn’t get seated so closed. We prob wouldn’t notice. But it’s cute they lit the candle for our special occasion.
Nice atmosphere, service is always great. Just don't get the hype about the food; I'd say it's "ok," but never blows me away
ALWAYS incredible flavors in each of the dishes served. Special occasion or “just because”!
We went to Serenade for my wife's birthday, first time back in several years. Welcome was warm and service was attentive throughout. My wife started with the Tuna Tartare and I had the Blue Point oysters, which the server had recommended. We both had the Lamb for our main course.
The oysters were excellent, fresh, plump and not very briny. Unfortunately, the tuna was disappointing. The tangy dressing simply overpowered the fish. A bit more restraint would have improved the dish greatly. One small point: when we asked for bread the choice was sourdough or focaccia. Great! The sourdough was a nicely sized dinner roll, but the focaccia was a single slice! That's not how bread service is supposed to work.
The lamb was outstanding, however, a generous serving cooked medium rare as ordered. It was accompanied by roasted asparagus and other vegetables, which we love, and what was called a potato pancake but was actually an inch-high cake of spicy mashed potatoes with a crispy top and bottom. Great technique that we'd never seen before. Sauce was a mustardy jus with lots of flavor. A standout dish in every way. Desserts were fine.
Wine was a 2018 Penner-Ash from the Willamette Valley. It was reasonably priced by restaurant standards at about 2x retail. The wine was bright and acidic and paired well with the lamb, but we both thought it only hinted at complexities to come, and could have stood a few more years in the bottle (and not on the wine list). Overall, the list was comprehensive and from what I could tell fairly priced.
We had been to Pluckemin Inn fairly recently, and we don't think Serenade is quite in the same class. Apart from the lamb, which would be the highlight of any menu, the food is just at a higher level (and price point) there. I know that the encyclopedic wine list at Pluckemin is something they are noted for, but what I really like is the knowledgeable advice, which wasn't in evidence at Serenade.
Not perfect, but very good value.
Another fabulous evening, many thanks!
I have been wanting to try Serenade for awhile, so we decided to splurge for our anniversary this year. We thought it was good, but not amazing. When you are charging $50 for some of the entrees, I don't think that you should be asking us for $6 so we could have a bread basket. That seemed absurd... We had the Octopus for an appertizer which was very very good. I had the pork for dinner and my husband had the rack of lamb ($50). My pork was cooked very well, but it was supposed to have been cooked asian style with korean bbq sauce and sticky rice. Those flavors did not come through. My husband said that his lamb was cooked very well, but it was not memorable and for that much money it should have been. We had the lemon pie for dessert which was very very good. Overall, it was a good experience, but felt overpriced and not sure I would go there again. For close to $300 for dinner, I want my socks knocked off and they were not...
Serenade is spectacular in every way. Cocktails, food, ambience. James is one of the best chefs around. Perfect evening!
We had the best waiter and food - this is a favorite of our family
The service; ambience, atmosphere and most of all the food was outstanding. My wife and I highly recommend Serenade.
The waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food was very good. We were not rushed. The noise level was high and annoying at times.
The food was great as always. The corn chowder was extraordinary. I have always liked this dish but this time it was even better than usual.
The waiter was especially good and very attentive
We went on a Saturday evening for the price fixed menu. The options were great and the service was fantastic!
Serenade has really navigated the challenges of the pandemic well. This was our first indoor reservation in a long time. It was good to see familiar faces working, serving food that was reliably interesting, well-executed and not pretentious, with the same level of gracious hospitality as before.
Please bring back the bar menu. It was
Always have an exceptional time at Serenade. Food and service is outstanding, hands down my favorite restaurant in Chatham!
As always, a very good time. Good food and service. Not the cheapest!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The service was great and the food was terrific. The special cake that was made for our Anniversary was wonderful. Thanks for a great 50th!
We went to Serenade for our anniversary dinner and it was an enjoyable experience. We enjoyed our dinner and quality of food was very good, everything was fresh and well done. Crab cake & cauliflower steak tasted fresh & delicious. The main entrées steak frites and organic salmon were both very well done and tasted delicious. The portion size is also pretty good and filling. While my hubby was able to finish his main course, I couldn't finish it all. :) We would definitely go here again both for the food as well as good ambience.
My birthday was complete with our family dinner at Serenade. The food, drinks everything was great, pricey but delicious!
First time to this polished and well run restaurant. On a hot sumner Tuesday evening every seat, bar stool and table was occupied - inside and out. Impressive food, wine list, space and staff. Filled with clientele who can afford to make this a regular haunt in these tony burbs…
This is one of my favorite restaurants. However, we specifically went Sunday night because they had advertised a lobster roll special, which had sold out before we were seated. However, our meals were still very good.
The food was very good and the service was great. Portions were perfect. We were seated quickly and when leaving the hostess nicely said "I hope you enjoyed your meal."
This is one of the best restaurants in NJ IMO. Excellent food, a nice wine list and great ambience with consistent excellence over the past 15 years that I have been going here.
Serenade has excellent food and service commensurate with a fine dining restaurant. And, we’ve known from prior visits that this is an expensive restaurant for a suburban NJ locale. However, there have been some changes - which leads me to advise that diners should expect to be “nickel-and-dimed” to pieces. On the menu, a bread basket showed a cost of $6.00. We questioned that out of amusement, and our waiter said he’d just bring us two pieces. We were surprised when the bill showed a charge of $2.00 for the two small rolls (lol). The waiter also asked us if we wanted some water. I asked for sparkling water, which I expected to pay for. However, my husband asked for “plain water,” so we were surprised to find that we were charged $7.00 a piece for each of our waters (!!!). Lastly, I ordered a kir royale and then a sparkling rose’; the kir was $24.00 (!!!) for one glass and the sparkling rose’ was $21.00 (!!!) for a small glass. These charges are excessive and unnecessarily surpass other fine dining restaurants in NJ. The over-pricing left a bad taste in our mouths, and we likely won’t return for a while.
They offer only prix fixe menu of $75 each person. The value of the meal is good if we talking about French cuisine that usually more but remember it is not a traditional French. Our waiter was nice and attentive but not the busgirl who brought out our desserts was rude by just pushing everyone’s elbow and placing the dishes without saying any excuse me or word. It seems she was rushing to get out of her shift. No greeting nor thx after paying the bill from anyone in the restaurant even passing through the entire restaurant. This is a local business and seems not for out of town guests.
Went with my wife to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Service was excellent. We ordered the crab cakes and short ribs tortellini as appetizers and the lamb as the main. All the food was well presented and delicious. The lamb had a slightly spicy sauce, which I thought added to the dish. For dessert we had the Chocolate tart and Berry Cobbler. Everything was excellent. We ate outdoors under the COVID era parking lot canopy.
Great service. Food was overal fine, but everything tasted a bit too long under theheat lamps
The service, atmosphere, food was absolutely fabulous.
Service was high quality. Our accommodations were met completely and staff was always ready to help. I would recommend to anyone!
We love Serenade but it felt very mediocre and over-priced this time. The service and experience were fine but it just didn't match the prices. The quality of the food - although not terrible- just didn't match the prices either. Sorry to say we were disappointed last night.
We love it. Great food and service. 100% recommended
Excellent as always!!! Thank you
Meal was excellent, service was superb. "Goose" was a great server - excellent interpersonal skills...Nice ambience
Great!! We were inside and enjoyed that it was us and another table, the restaurant was steady (which was nice to see). Food was good as well!
Our first night out since the pandemic hit. Safely ate outside. The tents are set up beautifully, tables were spaced perfectly and the service was excellent!
Really disappointed with the food. Too much hype,
