Two of the four entrees were over cooked. They were sent back and the replacements were far better and cooked as originally requested. It appeared that the original plates (filet mignon & pork chops) might have been pre cooked and were not medium rare as ordered.
For the price it was not a fine dining experience but just a good meal.
Service (drinks) was a little slow, but food was excellent.
Good overall. Some of the staff is a bit over the top and a tat rude.
Food is great, as is the service. We were in a room with about eight or ten other tables. One table had six diners and they were kind of loud - the acoustics do little to muffle sound, so it was hard to hear the three others at my table, at times. Also, while their selections of wines are extensive, but they are fairly expensive - better option to order by the glass. All in all, great restaurant for any occasion - always enjoy dining there.
As usual the food was amazing, we love Serenade!
I had to a take a client out to dinner and I am not local to the area. I chose this location and it did not disappoint. The food was very good and the atmosphere was eloquent but not too fancy. I had the lobster and it was flavorful and moist.
Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to...everything about Serenade is top notch. I highly recommend it!
Good service, atmosphere but main courses were a bit disappointing.
Well-rounded lovely experience. Excellent knowledgeable service, flavorful food, attention to detail. We celebrated a wedding anniversary and indeed it felt special. Of note, the sirloin special was excellent, perfectly cooked, and delicious. The tuna was very tasty, and the sales both very good. Overall one of the best restaurants on NJ.
Serenade just gets better and better. They went out of their way to reserve a special table for us and the service was attentive and friendly. The food was uniformly delicious. It’s one thing to open a special restaurant. It’s quite another thing to maintain the quality over years.
When it comes to food and presentation, it doesn't get any better. Kitchen was the winner here. Bare table at lunch was a negative. I'm sure it is white tablecloth for dinner. Service was very professional. Definitely a winner.
Very nice place and food was delish. We went for my daughter’s 18th birthday and we all had a lovely time. I would definitely go back.
The food here was tremendous. Although pricey, the food was extremely good and the wait staff is excellent. Highly recommend for date night or a special occasion.
food is consistently excellent. The service was a bit slow this last time but still attentive.
Great meal, service and atmosphere
Excellent dinner! The food and service were great. Looking forward to our next visit
First visit to Serenade and we were blown away! Outstanding in every aspect. Beautiful interior, great service and very comfortable as well. We enjoyed the special smoked salmon and caviar special appetizer and the on the menu octopus salad. For our meals we had the lobster which is outstanding!
This is on the menu all the time and really is amazing. We also had the rack of lamb~one of the best lamb dishes I have ever had. Love this place! The only slightly down side is their wine list is very expensive so you need to review before getting there or ask very specifically for the price point you are looking for.
We did get a bottle for $75.00 and it was excellent.
35th Birthday dinner...we did the Market tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was amazing! The only negative was that the particular wine pairing didn’t always show up until a bit after that specific course.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Everything was absolutely excellent and expertly prepared. We were extremely happy with the food, service, and ambience.
The ONLY two minor drawbacks were 1: we never received our coffee and tea that we ordered and 2: the drink, although delicious, seemed very weak.
Overall we will absolutely return and recommend to friends and family!
As always, an excellent dining experience. They call a few days before to confirm your reservation...old school, I like it! The staff is very professional, with well defined roles and excellent coverage. Wait staff is friendly but not that overly familiar thing that grates on your nerves in fine dining...and this IS fine dining. The menu is always interesting, with lovely selections across a variety of styles (but not an overwhelming list). The quality of the food itself is impeccable...I have had parts that weren’t to my particular taste, but never anything that was bad (I don’t eat certain things, but when I had my companion taste those they were very impressed). One of the few places that does fish in truly creative and delicious ways. Highlight is always the short-rib tortellini...one of my top 3 appetizers of all time...luscious is a good word here. I recommend eating slowly and savoring every bite! Also try to get the carrots...they do something I do not understand. I hate carrots but can’t get enough of these, truly amazing. Desserts are usually great, though there is an occasional lack of sweetness (I know it’s the trend these days, but I hate it...desserts should be sweet). Oh, and the bar is very talented...some interesting special cocktails but they can make anything, and it will be amongst the best you’ve ever had. It is not cheap, nor should it be for the quality of the food, service and overall experience. One of our favorites!
While the food was of good quality, the confusion in the dining room was extremely disappointing for a restaurant of this reputation. The server never described the dining options, the option of wine pairing. Dishes were served to the incorrect party with each course. The pork chop was overcooked twice even though it was sent back to the kitchen. We were charged for desserts even though it was a fixed price menu. A cheese board was listed with the desserts and the server did not point out it was not a part of the fixed price option. We were so looking forward to an outstanding meal with outstanding service and our experience left us feeling very disappointed.
Our experience was amazing and the service was impeccable. The food was quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. The ambience and everything on top of it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful, romantic and delicious. It’s just what we wanted to ring in our 10 year anniversary. Thank you, Serenade!
The meal was incredible!!! Wow... we eat out often and the meal and service was exceptional by any standards...
Valentine’s Day Dinner
We are from France and Switzerland It was our first experience in your fabulous restaurant!!
Like in a restaurant in France !
Amazing meals ! Congratulations Chef!
We will sure come back again and again
Great food service and ambiance. Always love it
My boyfriend and I were here on friday 2/8 to celebrate his promotion. When we arrived at our reservation timw we were seated in a booth that was basically a thoroughfare so I kept getting bumped into while seated. The noise level was so high I could not hear my boyfriend speak. I asked to move and we were raken upstairs. Noise level was better but still pretty awful- wec contemplated leaving. Our meal was ok. I orsered the steak special and rhe meat was almost too tough to cut through. Normally, I would have sent it back but I didn’t want my bf to wait to start his meal. Pur deinks were good, but all in all we will likely not be returning.
Very good overall experience. It was a beautiful and refined restaurant with lovely and experienced service. The food was good but didn’t blow me away - the prices were a bit high. Lobster chowder was thin and underseasoned, potatoes undercooked. Pork chop was good but a little tough and again a little underseasoned. I encourage the chefs to play with more spices or sauces to liven up the flavors. The talent is there, take some chances!
We were a party of six who came in before our reservations to have drinks at the bar and then sit down to eat. I explained at 7:35 what our intentions were and if they wanted to seat us earlier we would be ready. The host explained “they were running on time”. They ultimately ended up seating us much after our reservation time our reservation was at 8:15 we didn’t sit until 8:40 or so. The server was pleasant and engaging. Our dinner was served and My entree was terrible the Sea Bass was extremely fishy. I didn’t eat it. I am not a person who sends food back and thought that it was quite obvious I didn’t like it and would express that discreetly to the waiter when they removed my plate. They came and removed my plate they didn’t inquire about the uneaten entree nor even ask if I wanted it to go. Quite shocking in my opinion. Everyone else was happy and I didn’t say anything. The bill came and it was close to $700 not to mention the extra bar bill while we were waiting. I happened to have had an old gift certificate with NO expiration date for $50. I brought it with me and we put it with our payment. The waiter obnoxiously came over to the table waiving it and asked “where this was from?” I explained I have had it for a while but it had no expiration date on it so I brought it. He totally embarrassed me and my guests. I told him honor it or not, it was not worth the scene he created. They decided not to and confiscated it. I thought for sure someone would come over and talk to us about it we did spent quite a lot of money at the restaurant we even had a drink after dinner in hopes we could talk to someone but nothing. I’m shocked at the poor customer service. I am beyond shocked that we spent that much money had a bad meal and they had the audacity to question $50. I not only never send back food but I also never post negative things on social media however after that experience I will now do both.
Consistently good food in this neighborhood gem. Service was excellent and decor is pleasing.
Perfect anniversary dinner. Great ambiance. Great food!
A wonderful lunch. Everything was perfect.
Grade A experience!
Amazing food and service. Special place for sure. Not the usual dining experience.
Food was amazing. Service was good, not great. Decor is ok, though it’s very modern and some how cold the orange chairs are not attractive. Still, it’s a solid choice in this part of NJ. Food is always delicious with a special shout out to the soups, salads and breads. Good wine list. The owners are charming and eager to please. Bar area is a nice option. Best place in Chatham by far.
We love the food at Serenade. However, at our last 2 recent visits, the service has not matched the excellence of the food. Multiple times, someone in the party had to get up to find our waiter. Hopefully, they have been "off" nights and will be better when we return!
I took my foodie mother here as a Christmas gift. We participated in the Saturday Night Menu and we both really enjoyed it! All of the food, service, and presentation was top notch. We each ordered a specialty cocktail too and they were both delicious.
Jose did a fantastic job attending to all of our needs! Fantastic experience.
A VERY NICE RESTUARANT. BRAVO. In an area where good Restuarants are few, this one stands out. They have their act together. Food, service - all the things that should be , are there!
Service lacks the attention to detail that the food usually enjoys. This has been apparent in a number of my visits in the past few years. When they delivered a different salad than the one I ordered during
my latest visit I feel it's finally time to report this. Yes, they offered to correct it but I was with a client and we were pressed for time. No offer to take it off of the check or apology at the end.
