How do I even begin! Firstly, the location is outstanding. My boyfriend and I sat on the back patio during sunset, and had a perfect view of the ocean. Although it was a bit chilly, the heaters warmed us perfectly. The service was quick and responsive. Each dish we had was incredible- very tasty, even something as simple as french fries were made remarkable. The sauces on each dish complimented the flavors, and were added in perfect amounts. Each course complimented the last, from the starters to the dessert! (The banana chocolate bar).
Go to this restaurant!
The food and service were just ok...not up to the level I expected for the price.
A singular dining experience on the site of one the world’s most iconic hotels. Our server, Mark, was knowledgeable and attentive. Well done!
A very restaurant in the iconic Coronado hotel. The food and service are excellent, in alignment with the price.
Exterior sitting even in March is great, but pick the inside if you don’t like the disruption by the army helicopters and planes flying low.
Serea was a lovely experience. The ambiance and service were wonderful. The menu options were interesting but limited. The tableside service for the fresh fish was interesting. The expensive cut of fish was a small portion and should have had something accompany the dish such as steamed or sauteed vegetables. It was just some fish on a plate. For the price I would have expected more.
Seréa was good but not as good as the prices might imply. It was way too expensive for an a la carte restaurant.
Amazing experience! Food, drinks and service was all top notch! The price makes this place more of a special occasion type restaurant not everyday dining. Will definitely go back!
For a non fish eater accompanying a fish eater there were no satisfactory choices. All fishes were for 2. We left after appetizers which were only soso
It was a special chef,s dinner with 5 courses including spotted prawns and lobster in chile butter sauce. It was all excellent.
Disappointed as it didn’t meet the expectations we had set based on reviews of their website and menu. Waiter was not engaging, appeared to rush us through dinner, and pouring wine quicker than we were drinking it in hopes we would order a second bottle. Table side filleted fish had a number of bones and skin still intact. Definitely not worth the $250 check!
Go at sunset and sit on the patio - amazing views! Mark was an incredible server (we felt like he was our friend by the end of the night) and made the evening truly enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious- try the mezze plate, Brussels sprouts, grilled
Octopus, and really any fish and you will not be disappointed.
My wife and I went here for her 60th birthday. It was a wonderful experience! The food was awesome and the service from our waiter Mark was even better. He treated us like we were his only customers. He made it a memorable experience.
Really lovely. We had a nice romantic dinner. Great food and unique flavors. We were too late for Sunset. That would have been ideal. The Server Johnny was great along
with everyone else on their wait staff.
We were seated right away with a nice view. The servers were accommodating and trying to keep up as the restaurant was busy. I had the grilled octopus which was quite good. It was not rubbery or chewy, it was soft, delicious - they could have grilled it a bit more. Overall the food was fresh. Husband loved his lobster and my fish was tasty. Will definitely visit again. And it’s at the historic Del- can’t beat that!
Try to get an outdoor seating and enjoy the sunset!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed everything about Seréa. The food was awesome, the drinks were excellent, the ambience was perfect and the service was top notch. We would definitely return to eat there next time we visit San Diego.
The service is five star amazing. Our waiter, John, was incredibly knowledgeable and made our experience spectacular. The restaurant is beautiful although we were seated inside which is not as visually impacting as patio dining. My only negative remark is that my salmon dinner did not come out hot. It was only warm. My boyfriend’s food was served perfectly hot and was outstanding. The food was delicious and creative.
We went for Valentines Day, they were only serving the prefix despite stating the full menu would be available as well days earlier. Service felt rushed and systematic, like they were just banging out table turns. In, out, next. Atmosphere was very nice. Food was a solid “good”, but nothing worth mentioning over the long weekend with friends. At $95 a head, before tax, tip, and drinks I would have expected better. Would come again if others arranged, but doubt I will be the instigator.
Serea was a very underwhelming experience for my wife and I on Valentines. While I wasn't expecting "value" given its eating at the Hotel Del, other than the desert the food was very ho-hum for the price ($130 a head, semi-preset menu @ $95 + drinks/tax/tip). It's a beach restaurant so allowances are to be made to handle sand etc. but the ambiance didn't meet our expectations for the sticker price. Service was reasonable as the servers weren't given too many tables for a busy evening. Not something I'd repeat, way more venues with better view, ambiance, food & value.
We went to Serea for Valentine's Day. We were disappointed by the food, which was okay but far from outstanding. The service was very nice, but much of the dining room consisted of uncomfortable chairs, and a high level of noise. Overall, it wasn't bad, but far from great. I doubt we'll return.
Had our entire family booked at the Hotel Del for our wedding weekend 2/14 to 2/18/2020! My fiancé and myself decided to have a 7:30pm Valentine’s dinner solo 2/14/2020 while our guest got settled. We told them we are gluten free. Not only were we Served food with Gluten yet they abruptly took our plates away and removed the fish and replated our meal after we already had a few bites! It was cold, bland and not worth the $400.00. As a bride to be I was highly disappointed. My mother stopped over around desert time and asked for some pita bread only to be told it would cost us extra money & she is too sweet & declined any extra cost. Not the Sarea we experienced the week prior when we came to have dinner. Save your money, eat at Miguel’s, The Brigantine, Little Frenchie, Leroys or The Henry. Just have a overpriced weak cocktail outside like my Guests and family experienced while awaiting our greeting after a subpar dinner. I was so hungry after dinner I ate snacks from our Welcome gift bags! Sad yet True! 🙏❤️
Wonderful service with fabulous food! We came here to have a special night and they sure delivered!
Booked a reservation on opentable. I failed to read the fine print down at the bottom that it was a pre fixed menu. Stayed anyway and ate once we got there.
Service was awesome! Our waiter was super nice.
Food was not very good at all. You would think for $350 (for 2 people) after tip and 2 glasses of wine and a pre fixed meal it would have been good. Really disappointed. Didn’t seem that busy to have a pre fixed menu. Prob will not go back.
It was a four course meal:
1- a mini cone of tuna and that was about 3” long
2- steak tar tar and lotke
3- fatty piece of lamb loin
4. Small piece of cheap cake.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I only write reviews when it is really good or really bad! 😞
This restaurant is great for a special occasion. My husband and I went for Valentine’s Day and it has lovely ambiance and the food was overall very good. It is extremely pricey, especially the pre fixe menu for Valentine’s Day, but understandable given the setting (Hotel del Coronado). The service was impeccable.
The setting is very nice especially at the Del. The seating is awkward. High bench seating with cushions that are not attached so they slide when you slide in to the table. It was a cool evening so the heaters were on which was nice but they are too big for the dining area. Difficult to weave in and out especially when all dress
