When Ross Magnaye and Shane Stafford started Serai, their vision was to create a restaurant that would fit perfectly in the heart of the Philippines. To replicate the spirit, vitality, passion and sense of fun, they knew Serai would become a home from home for our diners.

​At our restaurant, right in the heart of Melbourne, you can watch the chefs prepare and fresh food daily in our open kitchen at the chef’s omakase table or relax in the restaurant and bar with a glass of our hand picked, vin naturel selections or signature cocktails.

    Great food experience, though the set menu (required for groups) doesn’t highlight all their "well-known" dishes and favors kaffir lime flavors. Still highly recommended!

    Serai presents itself as a very unpretentious, yet extremely high quality, fine dining restaurant in the heart of Melbourne. The setting is cute and interesting, without trying too hard to be so. The music was present and suitable for the environment, without being too loud to have a comfortable conversation. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, without any of that awkward and non-genuine over-servicing you often get at such a venue. The dishes were nothing short of delicious, I loved every last thing they served us. One particular dish wasn't within my partner's taste (not to say it wasn't good, it was my favourite), so they very kindly substituted it for something more appropriate. Our waiter helped with cocktail suggestions that were absolutely on point! One of the best dining experiences I've had, we'll be back!

    Some of the best food I've had in Melbourne. Our servers were fantastic at helping us navigate the menu and assisted my partner with vegan modifications. The dishes are beautifully curated and immaculately presented.

    The food was wonderful, in all but 1 of our 6 dishes . It was the grilled prawns which were quite difficult to eat. However all of the other dishes were delicious, especially the lamb ribs and the pigs head taco

    The waiter who had his birthday and was the one serving us was such an attention seeker. I kinda felt sorry for him actually :( He kept singing Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas just to get noticed. It was also so annoying that he would move the food with his bare hands, very unhygienic. It was also unprofessional that the chefs were all eating at the chef area randomly with the ingredients for preparation, it was not clean to look at and very discouraging to be sitting at the Chef's Table where it costs more. I understand they can do that but not be very proud about it or show it off like, hey we're eating this too! It's not a very good look. The menu was ok and the Chef was kind to add another dish, that was very cool but overall I would not go back there, I don't wanna see that sad and attention-seeking waiter who knocked off my workmate's bag and was very unapologetic about it. Very rude! The other waiters were very nice, I wish they were the ones who served us and not him. I hope that guy seeks help, he's giving off needy vibes which is pathetic, I'm sorry but just giving the review as honest as what I've experienced. The food was ok, although calling something kare kare when it was not - that was off. It kinda tastes like kare kare but it was not kare kare at all. It would have been better if it was renamed to something else alluding to kare kare. Anyway, it was nice to try for the first time. Thank you for the learning experience.
