Serafina is a little gem of a restaurant, perched on top of Nob Hill, with views overlooking the city and Bay Bridge. We were recently awarded the prestigious Gambero Rosso as one of the best Italian restaurants in the US. Serafina was owner Maurizio Bruschi’s grandmother, and the name of her eponymous restaurant in the heart of Trastevere (Rome), where Maurizio first began making pizza at the age of 14. The executive chef is Umberto Cannarsa, a successful chef from Rome, who left his own restaurant in Rome to work with Maurizio again. The menu offers everything, including vegetarian options, but specializes in innovative Italian fish dishes, including fresh calamari, stuffed with olives, escarole, anchovies, drizzled with a potato leek sauce, as well as homemade pastas and dolci. The space is warm and elegant, where neighbors and friends can come together.

This was incredible. The food was out of this world, similar to what one would eat in Italy itself! Very good customer service and incredible atmosphere! Super recommend!

We had a wonderful meal here, would highly recommend. We really enjoyed the pear wrapped in prosciutto as an appetizer. We then got gnocchi and eggplant parm which was delicious. Finished with the cream puffs and tiramisu.

Serafina is an excellent neighborhood restaurant with a focused, yet varied menu offering both classic Italian dishes as well as imaginative riffs which keeps the food interesting and guests coming back. The kitchen's execution is consistent and sharp with all dishes that we had very enjoyable. The host / owners take considerable pride in their restaurant and that shows in their hospitality as they make you feel welcomed. The restaurant has an inviting / cozy atmosphere, but is small, so has limited seating. It attracts a mix of neighborhood regulars as well as out-of-town visitors because they deliver a delicious meal in a friendly setting at a substantial value.

What an amazing find! The Mark Hopkins recommended this and it was wonderful! The food was spot on and the two gentlemen serving worked there butts of and made us feel so welcome.

Great neighborhood spot on Nob Hill. The food was outstanding and the welcome warm. When it got busy, the two servers were a little less attentive and had to ask for things (water/ wine refill) multiple times. But minor compared to the experience. Great place for a date night.

Outstanding restaurant! Very authentic food, beautifully prepared. Lovely atmosphere without being pretentious. My favorite kind of place: comfortable with impeccable food.
