Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.
Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by Chef Christian Chandler. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, David Weeks, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.

Serafina Ratings and Reviews
We've been going to Serafina for years and it has always been excellent, but that wasn't the case on Saturday night. It was really loud, they forgot our appetizer. Our pasta was cold and the scallops were sandy. It's not the same romantic great food restaurant that it once was....We won't be going back.
We went to Serafina on Friday to celebrate an anniversary and had a great experience. The service was excellent; attentive but not overbearing. The staff was able to describe the food options and make recommendations - which we like to hear. The food was very good - we tend to order more courses and share each one. The beef special was fantastic - and we don't use that word too often. We recommend the restaurant to all our friends and we will be back.
We were three long time friends meeting for lunch after not seeing each other for awhile. We have been to Serafina before but were for Seattle Restaurant Week. We had fun trying different items. We each ordered a different dessert & shared them so we could each have a taste. Very yummy food. The waitstaff was so friendly & really made our stay enjoyable. A great restaurant to enjoy getting together with friends and eating great food.
We went for Seattle Restaurant Week with four other friends. All of our food was excellent with the exception of the desserts. The pana cotta and cheese plates weren't something we'd recommend. We were able to try all the appetizers between the six of us. The papperdelle and market fish (tuna) main courses were outstanding. Service was excellent as well. We would definitely recommend and also return to try their regular menu items.
Serafina has been one of my favorite Seattle restaurants for over two decades and a dinner this week with friends did not disappoint. We enjoyed ordering the creative cocktails almost as much as the pasta--but everything was outstanding including our server.
Consistently delicious!! I absolutely adore this restaurant; the kitchen always delivers the finest noteworthy dishes. The meal ends, and I am already thinking about when I can next dine here. The fish of the day, the mussels, the bolognese, and now the pappardalle are divine! Thank you, Serafina.
As usual, love the food! The noise level is horrific/unpleasant. Would dine at Serafina MUCH more often if something was done in the dining room to curb the noise level. It's even pretty bad later in the evening after the crow thins. Would love to see them invest in some technology/ceiling design features that would lessen the noise level.
Lights were a bit too dim. Food was ok for Seattle Restaurant Week. I ordered fish of the day and was told there were scallops with the tuna, but didn't get any. Paid $4.50 for bread - I guess bread is an extra. Food was not very temperature hot. Two glasses of red wine was $32.
Food was great! But we got the table for 2 in the box right by the door, across from the check-in counter - not in the main dining room. This is a terrible table and should be removed. We spent over $100 for dinner and drinks in a tiny box, while looking at the backs of people as they waited for their tables to be ready.
This is a great restaurant and it has been since the day it opened. Really consistent and worth traveling to from other parts of the city. Particularly charming in Summer when the patio is open, it still performs well under cloudy skies with ample indoor seating. Well, ample-ish. It's a small restaurant to begin with.
The only knock I would give is that it is super loud when full. This is fun, but can be a little nerve racking when you are dining with people who are difficult to communicate with for one reason or another. Hearing, language skills, etc.
Aside from that it is perfect in every way. And we'll definitely be back.
Four of us came here for my mothers 83 birthday. Fine dinning is our normal so even though it was her birthday it wasn't anything special or unusual for us to eat at a place like Serafina, other then the date. We ordered three dishes: 2 scallop entrees, 2 seasonal pasta specials, and the Bruschetta to start. The scallops were fantastic and we all agreed the Bruchetta was very good as well. The first two were a treat for our tastebuds. The reason for the three stars is because we got tricked by our waitress and ordered the pasta special. Sadly, for those of us who ordered it, it wasn't good, even though it was the "seasonal special" and highly recommended by our waitress. We all tried it and everyone in our party came to the same conclusion. It was a disappointment. The pasta wasn't cooked long enough and was even close to crunchy in places, while the sauce was bland and when mixed in with the pomegranate, almost bitter. We obviously got the dish the kitchen was pushing that night. Which is another disappointment. I always ask the wait staff what to order and rely on their integrity to answer honestly. If they're honest, I rarely ever have a bad meal. I would have sent it back and ordered another dish but we had already waited almost 2 hours for our entrees to arrive. We didn't tell our waiteress we were in a rush so I can't complain to much, but we had arrived at 5:15 and needed to leave at 7:15 for our show. So when the entree came to us at 7:00, we had to rush. No time for dessert this time, my favorite part of any meal. We passed on the doggy bags too. The portions aren't large and we didn't finish it for a reason. Fortunately, my fiancé shared her scallops or I would have left hungry. Still this is a good place. I've been here before and I know their normal is very good. Also, I love the ambiance. Such is life. Everyone has an off day now and then, but too many wrongs on this visit to rate it any higher despite the past.
The eggplant and pasta with bolognese were delicious. The desert was weak but they have hired a new pastry chef which will improve the selections. This restaurant is one of my favorites and I have been celebrating birthdays here with friends for years. I will definitely go back but miss some of the old items that have disappeared.
Extraordinary food, overall very good service (our server, Jonah, was GREAT but some of the additional wait staff seemed to not perform at his out-of-this-world level - not a criticism of the other restaurant staff as much as a tip of the hat to Jonah). An excellent place to spend an evening with the love of your life or best friend(s), regardless of the occasion. A true gem in Seattle's emerald crown.
