Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.
Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by Chef Christian Chandler. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, David Weeks, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.

Serafina Ratings and Reviews
Our server (Beth?) was amazing! She was informative, understood our time limitations, also our bread and oil obsession! We all had wonderful meals and will definitely return!! We were going to see Hamilton!! Delicious dinner and spectacular show; a perfect night out!!
I recommended Serafina to the group because they took such good care of my group from the American Lung Association.
I truly appreciated the attention and care that was given to us as a very large group of 22 and small group of 4.
Thank you from the bottom my heart and stomach!! :)
Left standing by our table near the entrance and told to wait even though it was empty and no one else was waiting. Service was super slow I ordered a seafood dish and asked if I could get a side of noodles with garlic butter but got a no instead. They make homemade pasta for heavens sake!!
Besides that the over all service was bad and slow. I have had two other meals in that restaurant which was outstanding but no more.it was a slow night as well so it's not like they were too busy.
Met friends for dinner at Serafina. For most of us, this was the first time dining there and we all loved the experience. Our server was knowledgable and attentive, the atmosphere was nice, and our meals were delicious. Considering we shared a bottle of wine, had appetizers, main course, and dessert, it was a great value. Highly recommend trying it.
It has a great trattoria feel to it, but it’s very expensive, and is not consistent across its dishes. We ordered a cookie / biscotti sampler for dessert, and not a single one of the five varieties was particularly good. Just not the attention to detail from a place where you can spend $100 for two for lunch.
This was a birthday dinner for my husband, and, as I had requested in the reservation, our server wished him a happy birthday as soon as we were seated. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and just right for a special occasion. We enjoyed all our dishes -- the braised octopus starter, special wild mushroom pasta, and rigatoni bolognese. Our server, Taylor (may have forgotten the name but she was a tall blonde woman), was gracious, helpful and attentive. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.
We dined at Serafina on a Saturday night. The tables were very close together and it felt tight . It was very loud and I could hear more from the conversation at the table next to me rather than the conversation I was a trying to have with my family. We had to talk very loudly to hear ourselves. Service was excellent and the wine steward was very kind to explain the smells of our newly opened bottle of red wine from Umbria to our kids. Appetizers were excellent. Pasta was good but not amazing. Authentic Italian food is simple and does not need to "try so hard" to be really good. Some of our dishes seemed like they were trying too hard.
We've been dining at Serafina for 25 years, and it's always been a delightful experience. This evening we went to Serafina with long time friends who had never been there. They, too, enjoyed it immensely. The wait staff is professional and knowledgeable, and Sal, the Sommelier, knows how to choose the perfect wine. We also like the fact that the food changes with the seasons and is always prepared expertly. All five of us loved what we ordered including the desserts.
We love it here and always enjoy our meal and the service! We have our faves but everything is always delicious! All staff are terrific and care about your experience! My fave is eggplant mellanzane and I have a hard time switching. My hubby is recently a major fan of the seafood pasta (probably has another name) and at night it has clams and crab. The arancini appetizer is always a must as well and they always have daily specials and dessert also.
Just go. You’ll love it. But leave us an opening for our table!!
Should out the great managers and staff!
The experience is average. The restaurant is smaller than I thought. On the upper side, the food is good but it didn’t make me wow, service is just ok for the price. One thing makes me didn’t enjoy very much is the nose, it was very very loud. I would not consider this place for date night ever again, may be only for family or friends. It was great that they were able to change my table to a quieter place. There are 3% surcharge per person on top off everything. I don’t think this would be in my favorite list.
We hadn't been to Serafina in quite some time and always had a wonderful experience. This last time was just as great. The food is excellent, service is warm and attentive, the ambiance is warm and comfortable and the wine list is great. The sommelier knows his business. The pasta especially is a standout - homemade and perfectly cooked and sauced. If you order the Limone salad be aware the vinaigrette has a very strong anchovy flavor. This restaurant is a Seattle icon. Love Serafina!
I have been dining at Serafina for more than 20 years. This is my first lunch. They decided to seat my friend and I adjacent to a large group of loud, inebriated guests because it would be easier for the server, despite the fact that half of the tables in the restaurant were empty. It was rude and nasty to me and my friend. I am sad that a place I respect sunk to that level. I won't be going back.
Lovely ambiance. Delicious food. Helpful and attentive wait staff.
Our main complaint is that it's prices are dear. We felt that they were trying to upcharge us, and on top of that without telling us in advance, they charged $3.50 for a basket of ordinary bread with herbed dipping oil.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Serafina. We made a reservation, so the wait was short. Everyone at the restaurant was dressed nicely; I think dress casual is appropriate. The food was delicious. And I love that the restaurant offers half bottles of wine to order. It's an economical option if you're both drinking wine. We had the octopus (Pulpo) with lentils, which was prepared perfectly. The octopus was grilled and had a nice char and texture. The veal meatballs (Polpettine) were nicely prepared with a tomato sauce and cheese topping. Our main dishes, lobster tortellini and rabbit parpadelle were a bit small. However, with the 2 appetizers and dessert it was the perfect sized meal for us. I was very pleased that the restaurant could make a vanilla latte for me. An after dinner coffee was the perfect ending.
We have been going to Serafina for over 20 years. Last Friday we went with a party of eight. Again it was excellent, if anything, better than ever. Very good food, great service, great ambiance with an upscale neighborhood feel. Growing up in a foodie family with Italian roots, this is not a 'pure' Italian restaurant, but the Italian dishes they do serve are fabulous. Among others, try the Polpo (braised octypus) for an antipasta and the Limone salad, for pasta the Spaghetti Cetarese or the Pappardelle di Porcini (braised rabbit, and for secondi's try the Melanzana (eggplant w/cappellini) or the Agnello (lamb shank with polenta). You won't go wrong.
