Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Entertainment
Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

I'd forgotten how good Serafina is. From the wonderfully crusty bread with terrific olive oil to the fish and the pasta, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. I'll be back.

Love Serafina and their handcrafted cocktails and food. The only negative with this place is the noise level that makes it hard to hear a conversation without yelling at each other. Otherwise, I love the quaint feel of the place and its a great neighborhood gem.

we have been going to Serafina for close to twenty years and i was astonished that the hostess ask us to leave as they had another party for our table. We were there for one hour and forty minutes and it took about forty minutes to be served. Not good.

This was our second time here. The Food and ambiance was great both times. Our second time back was a bit of a let down, maybe because the first time we sat at the bar and they were way more attentive then sitting in the main dining area. It took about ten to fifteen minutes for our server to even acknowledge us and the service overall was mediocre. This restaurant isn’t too expensive, but it is higher priced where service should be held at a higher standard.

We come up from Vancouver, USA on a regular basis. We usually stop for lunch, on the patio when the weather improves. Menu, wines, service cannot be beat. This trip was for Seattle Restaurant Week with friends. Its like a stop in Rome.

Ciao

Went for Easter Sunday brunch. The place was packed. Limited brunch menu but several choices for apps and main courses. Everything was hot and tasty, and the servers did not miss a beat. Only minor complaint was the volume of noise. Really loud ! Otherwise, all good ! We will be back. Soon !

What a delicious Easter brunch! The tasting menu came with multiple options, hard to choose. The smoked salmon scramble was perfection. Cocktails were perfect. Music was lovely. We took our daughter and her husband and we all had the best time.

Sadly serafina's is not what it used to be. The wine selection used to be amazing, with great wines at all levels of access and from unique areas of Italy. Alas, the wine selection is shrinking at the lower price end and the upper priced wines are juts sitting, since no one can afford them. Overall, the list continues to shrink.
Food is also being constricted. What used to be a four page sumptuous Italian menu has shrunken to two pages + specials.

My favorite in Seattle. Don't miss the eggplant. You don't believe it, but it's the dish I think about most often when thinking about dining out.

Is possible it was an off night, because the place was buzzing, but it was super loud, they seated us 25 min after our reservation time. and frankly the particular thing we both ordered (carbonara) wasn't very good. Granted it's a hard dish to make, but the octopus was outstanding grilled (though the harissa and lentils didn't add to it -- they were quite boring. Instead I would have done a lemon vinaigrette with fresh herbs and greens, sweet and bitter, with the tartness of the lemon.. would have been great and much more interesting.

We will try it again and hope it's better next time. The bar seems really good and after waiting 15 we should have just sat there. Much quieter and probably better on the small plates.

The food and service are amazing but have to say that getting a scallop dish for dinner that comes with 2 scallops for 36 is not right. They provided help with wine... food choices and were courteous and great overall. Waiter was amazing as well. I have eaten here 4 times and will continue but hope they can make the adjustment mentioned above-

This place is uncomfortably cramped and insanely loud. My date and I had to yell at each other at the top of our lungs and still couldn’t hear each other well. I don’t mind energetic, but this was too much.

I received a giftcard to open table and chose Serafina. The food was awesome and the courses from the Secondi section come in great portions. I highly recommend getting lamb. The ambiance here is nice with dim lighting and an almost fine dining vibe.
