Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.
Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by Chef Christian Chandler. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, David Weeks, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.

Serafina Ratings and Reviews
Came for old classics, but they weren't on the menu this time around. I did not leave disappointed because the next closest dish ended up winning me over. I had the Prixe fixe lunch course which allowed me to get a salad before my pasta and the pasta was a half portion of the normal size. I enjoyed that very much.
I brought someone here for their birthday, they enjoyed the service, excellent food, and the wine choice by the dark-haired gal (she's a pro). They close prior to reopening at dinner but we never got rushed out. Kitchen closes at 2:30, and I never would have known had it not been mentioned. Such a lovely restaurant, will be back soon!
Give This Standby Restaurant Another Look !
For years I considered Serafina a good stand-by restaurant - one which I always knew I could get into if all the 'hot' and 'great' restaurants in Seattle were booked. It was consistently OK -sort of like a reliable Buick, but nothing special. How times have changed !!! This is now one of the restaurants I urge friends to try again and discover the superb quality of the menu, preparation and service of the 'new' Serafina. The patio is especially lovely during the summer and early fall months. I now consider this one of the best restaurants in Seattle. Rather than go into the perfection of the recipes and execution of the food, I would just urge everyone to try it for themselves.
With a Open Table/Serafina gift certifcate, my wife's birthday was celebrated well on the outside patio. Her pasta (made in house) dish was outstanding and my lamb chop was excellent. The lamb sausage was extraordinary and should be sold ala carte to take home. Order the mussels and rustic bread first and then you could amost get by with one shared entree. Great service. Wine prices a little too high/ Not sure about corkage. Will return for special occasions.
Great tasting food and fabulous craft cocktails. This place is a little on the spendy side- I got the half portions of the pasta to save money ($16 for a half plate) and the texture and taste were excellent, but I didn't feel quite full at the end of my meal. They also have a really interesting idea with their infused spirits- you choose a flavored spirit and give the waiter your preferences and they craft an individualized cocktail for you. Good for a special occasion, great location and ambiance.
Amazing food with excellent presentation, phenomenal staff and service. Beth was absolutely wonderful, pleasant and knowledgeable on menu and specials. Wine selection was good, wine Stewart was friendly with excellent knowledge of history and story of wine chosen
Thank you, eating on the back patio was perfect
I love this restaurant. We were catching up with old friends and we wanted to take our time. The waitress did an amazing job of giving us just the right amount of attention without forgetting about us! My only negative comment is that the outdoor chairs are not very comfortable. But the food, service and the atmosphere is top notch!
Our experience was delightful. We started at the bar for a HH glass of wine and transferred to the patio in the back. It was a gorgeous day so the patio was quit crowded. The tables were very close together, so it's good if you are looking to make friends. Our food was amazing and a great value for the quality. Just be prepared to see the 3% surcharge on your bill. I overheard some confused diners discussing whether or not to tip.
Great neighborhood place. Feels homey and comfortable. The summer soup was delish! Lasagna a bit dry . Pasta of the day wonderful! Sommelier brought us an extra glass of sparkling rose to compare with the bottle we purchased. Very sweet of him. Nice music ;-)
The last two times I have had lunch at Serafina's (about 1:00PM to miss the business crowd); service has been unattentive, slow, agonizing slow to the extent we had to go the desk to ask for things. Food is alway cooked well but if I had that much time, my cooking would be good too.
Perfect evening night out sitting on an outside courtyard garden. Nice variety of menu choices and seasonal specials. Wine recommendations were very good. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. My wife had a house salad while I had an grilled octopus appetizer. She, then had a house-made pasta and I, a salmon from the specials. Fresh and extremely tasty. We chose a chocolate dessert that is made in-house. The nicest restaurant experience during our two week visit to the Seattle area.
My only problem with the meal I had was that the sauce on the halibut was unpleasant. The halibut was cooked perfectly but tomato sauce, however artfully arranged on the place, along with the peas, just worked against the subtle flavors of the halibut. Harsh.
Our server was great, apologized for the time it took to bring us our entrees in the nicest possible way.
