Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.
Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by Chef Christian Chandler. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, David Weeks, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.

Serafina Ratings and Reviews
This is a great restaurant and it has been since the day it opened. Really consistent and worth traveling to from other parts of the city. Particularly charming in Summer when the patio is open, it still performs well under cloudy skies with ample indoor seating. Well, ample-ish. It's a small restaurant to begin with.
The only knock I would give is that it is super loud when full. This is fun, but can be a little nerve racking when you are dining with people who are difficult to communicate with for one reason or another. Hearing, language skills, etc.
Aside from that it is perfect in every way. And we'll definitely be back.
Four of us came here for my mothers 83 birthday. Fine dinning is our normal so even though it was her birthday it wasn't anything special or unusual for us to eat at a place like Serafina, other then the date. We ordered three dishes: 2 scallop entrees, 2 seasonal pasta specials, and the Bruschetta to start. The scallops were fantastic and we all agreed the Bruchetta was very good as well. The first two were a treat for our tastebuds. The reason for the three stars is because we got tricked by our waitress and ordered the pasta special. Sadly, for those of us who ordered it, it wasn't good, even though it was the "seasonal special" and highly recommended by our waitress. We all tried it and everyone in our party came to the same conclusion. It was a disappointment. The pasta wasn't cooked long enough and was even close to crunchy in places, while the sauce was bland and when mixed in with the pomegranate, almost bitter. We obviously got the dish the kitchen was pushing that night. Which is another disappointment. I always ask the wait staff what to order and rely on their integrity to answer honestly. If they're honest, I rarely ever have a bad meal. I would have sent it back and ordered another dish but we had already waited almost 2 hours for our entrees to arrive. We didn't tell our waiteress we were in a rush so I can't complain to much, but we had arrived at 5:15 and needed to leave at 7:15 for our show. So when the entree came to us at 7:00, we had to rush. No time for dessert this time, my favorite part of any meal. We passed on the doggy bags too. The portions aren't large and we didn't finish it for a reason. Fortunately, my fiancé shared her scallops or I would have left hungry. Still this is a good place. I've been here before and I know their normal is very good. Also, I love the ambiance. Such is life. Everyone has an off day now and then, but too many wrongs on this visit to rate it any higher despite the past.
The eggplant and pasta with bolognese were delicious. The desert was weak but they have hired a new pastry chef which will improve the selections. This restaurant is one of my favorites and I have been celebrating birthdays here with friends for years. I will definitely go back but miss some of the old items that have disappeared.
Extraordinary food, overall very good service (our server, Jonah, was GREAT but some of the additional wait staff seemed to not perform at his out-of-this-world level - not a criticism of the other restaurant staff as much as a tip of the hat to Jonah). An excellent place to spend an evening with the love of your life or best friend(s), regardless of the occasion. A true gem in Seattle's emerald crown.
Food and service are consistently good. Friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff. Interesting and somewhat exotic wine list - especially if you like off beat Italian wines from the South. Patio is great if open. Much quieter than retsaurant which is very noisy if full.
I've been here three times and I've never been disappointed. Food is always top level and the service is just as good as the food. Nice wines by the bottle to complement the meal at decent prices. This place is not cheap, but we had a dinner for four with appetizers, entrees, wine, and dessert for $300.
Serafina has been a great, reliable retreat for us (though a little noisy for business). And this time the food and service were great. This visit I was struck by the wine list. Nothing under 40 dollars (I don't think I missed a page). I am sure they take great efforts for the best pairings, but it is off my list like one other place on the water. Sorry, they have to have a more reasonable offering.
We really like Serafina, but the pasta on this visit wasn't up to their usual standards. The lasagne in particular was uninteresting. The bucatini ametriciana was much better last spring than it was on this visit. The rigatoni was stellar, and the tomato/basil/mozarella salad was very good. Serafina has a good selection of Italian wines, and we were able to sit outside which was lovely. This was a good meal, but we've had many meals that were better here.
Still good food but service was off. It took forever to get a couple of beers and at the end of the day when we ordered a dessert they brought the coffee and it was another 15 minutes before the dessert came out. The food is quite good. And perhaps because we had a bigger party of 6 and were put in a separate area so that we weren't as noticeable we were not getting decent service. And it's expensive which only bugs me when service is bad. But we will try it again and hope for a better experience
We have gone to Serafina many times, but
they were just off their game on our most recent experience. Dishes came out not hot enough (gnocci, pasta) Menu didn't seem as appetizing as our last visit. Cocktails and oysters were superb. Restaurant was busy & vibrant, but a little loud.
Always great service and food with choices for everyone! Currently the arancinni appetizer with a special cheese sauce is our fave, my husband usually gets the special fish dish of the day which is always outstanding, and I can hardly ever not order melanzanne which is rolled eggplant stuffed with cheese and herbs on a bed of garlic pasta with an addictive marinara sauce. Although they charge for bread it's delicious and worth it and it comes with an herb oil you can dip it in.
All the staff are great and say hi to the manager, Dave, if you drop in.
The bar has a super happy hour and the food and drinks are always spot on.
The patio is always busy in the summertime but will probably close soon with our chilly weather arriving.
Have fun and treat yourself!
Had a fabulous lunch yesterday at Serafina. The waitress was fabulous and the food, too. I ordered on the Prix Fixe menu and had a truly wonderful salad called "Limone." This was followed by a small portion of Rigatoni Bolognese which was just the right amount.
Would recommend Serafina as a great place for a lunch treat.
My partner and I went for a late lunch on a special occasion. I'd been twice before. My partner had never been there. We ordered their pre-fixe lunch menu and some wine. The salads (misto and limone) were fresh and simple. The pasta (rigatoni bolognese and bucatini amatriciana) was house made and properly sauced. They had an outstanding negroamaro on the "by the glass" lunch menu. This place obviously cares about Italian food as it's some of the best in the Seattle area. Can't wait for the next visit.
Love love love this restaurant. Food is always on point. We are here in the summer so we were able to enjoy the patio which was so cute! Staff is attentive and knowledgeable. This restaurant is great for both everyday dining and special occasion. They also have live music some nights. You have to check the website for details.
It has been years since visiting this old friend, Serafina, but pleased to find that it remains a local gem. We sat in the charming back patio to celebrate a birthday and leisurely enjoyed a lovely sparkling rose followed by an octopus appetizer and the deliciously earth seasonal mushroom pasta - a perfect nod to fall on an early September evening. Panna Cotta desert was perfectly creamy and rich. Highly recommended.
Trevor was a superb server, efficient and yet personable. The food, in my case a green salad and casereccia with squash and squash blossom, were both well done. They gladly substituted oil and vinegar for the buttermilk dressing. Reasonable wine selection both by the glass and bottle, but the bottle list is not extensive. A very nice meal.
We Just moved to Eastlake and thought we'd try a local favorite. My 17 year old spent last year in Italy as a foreign exchange student. She wanted to Judge Serafina's much talked about lasagna. She said it was the best lasagna she has had since coming home. I loved my eggplant capellini and my husband enjoyed his lamb. Great recommendations for wine from our very professional waiter. We will be spending a lot more time here in our future.
