Italian
Perfect For:
  • Special Occasion
  • Neighborhood Gem
  • Good for Anniversaries
Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Entertainment
Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

Serafina is still doing a great job. I went for lunch during restaurant week.
Had 6 plump delicious mussels, a large pork shortrib with very nice accompaniments, and some great soft and creamy pecorino cheese and apricot jam with crackers. The portions were reasonable, not large, but also not miniscule like many nice restaurants do for RW. The ambiance was enjoyable, and the service made me feel comfortable.

I was incredibly impressed with how great the food AND service was, especially considering I went during restaurant week and they were extremely busy.

A solid neighborhood spot. Attentive service. Nice atmosphere, if a little chilly by the back window.

I tried to go there for lunch for Seattle Restaurant Week. I made my reservations through the Seattle Restaurant Week site for lunch. We had 12:30 reservations. They told us that since they were serving brunch, the restaurant week lunch menu was not available. Since the difference is only 4 dollars per person, I went along with it. But they should have not made it available for lunch if that was the case right on their website.
Also, the food was merely good, not excellent this time.

Overall we had a lovely evening with great food and service. We had reservations on a Saturday night; I have yet to arrive for a reservation here and not have to wait for an available table. It's disappointing as the timing should be coordinated better. Be prepared for tightly packed tables and a high level of noise. This place is charming but the downside is the noise level can be a bit much. The service is good but they move at a slower pace so it is easy to spend a couple of hours here. It is worth the drive for the food but just know this is not the place for a quiet romantic evening.

The first courses were tasty. Two of the five second courses were not hot, but because of the noise we did not take the time to complain. The tables were too close together. The noise was awful. Parking is difficult. The servers were polite and friendly.

It's easy to overlook the great, classic Seattle restaurants since we have so many new ones opening every week so we decided to go back to one of our favorites and wow! A perfect combination of great food, comforting atmosphere that you can hear your partner's conversation and exceptional service. Can't say enough about this restaurant..

Great restaurant...always consistent with a varied menu. Traditional Italian items with a little extra flair. Very cozy, in a quiet part of Seattle away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We dine here several times each year and find it great each time.

The "plin" ended up being about as thick and dry as grocery store ravioli, which is sad because this was once one of my favorite restaurants

This is one of my go-to's. Great for date-night, great for a comforting dinner at the end of a hard week; great for birthdays. Their food is consistently well prepared, and service is fun and friendly, and yet also "out of the way".

The lunch was beautifully served without any rush. We both ate the 4 oz. of steak with some small potatoes and an artichoke sauce. It was great and not too much for lunch for women!

I liked this place, and the food was pretty decent, but the loudness of the crowd made it hard to hear. There was a particular girl seated in the middle of the 2nd tiered floor whose voice was so loud and annoying the it really hampered the experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and as I said, the food was pretty decent. I think my food, the special Tuna, may have been overcooked a bit, but the flavor was nice. My wife had the Pappardelle Bolognese and it was good as well, but perhaps the pasta was also overcooked. We had the Fig and Prosciutto salad was quite nice as well.

Three of us, who dine together frequently, hadn't been to Serafina for too many years. What a great evening we had! and we will return soon. The restaurant was busy, but our server very kindly gave us plenty of time to enjoy our cocktails before even deciding on food. Delivery of salads and entrees had plenty of time in between, so we could actually enjoy our meal. This is truly a gem of a restaurant.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch with jazz.. The food was very good and the portions were hardier than expected. Homemade fresh ingredients. Nice choices on the brunch prix fixe for $22 per person was very affordable. The decanter of mimosa is a good value as well, but we opted for a bottle of sparkling instead..

Would recommend and would love to try for dinner. The dining is small, warm and cozy with lots of natural light.. Could only imagine what a romantic dinner would be like..

Serafina's is IMHO the heart and soul of Eastlake. Living across the street and briefly knowing the departed owner Susan I have the fortune of being able to walk across to enjoy a fine Italian meal. Food is excellent, service friendly and welcoming and ambience is great.

As usual Serafina was excellent. It's all good there...food is consistently excellent. I've had two of the best pasta bolognese ever. Sitting in the courtyard on a warm evening with my wife, a glass of wine...it doesn't get any better than that.

I love this Eastlake neighborhood gem. I can always count on great food, friendly service and Italian ambiance. I had the delicious daily pasta special with short rib and a rich red sauce. My friend enjoyed a lovely gazpacho/peach soup (delicious!) and prosciutto/fig salad. Serafina never disappoints!

Serafina is one of my favorite places but I had an early reservation 6:00 and order about 6:30 only to find out they were already out of ALL of the specials. I made no sense why have them on the menu if they are all gone before 7:00! really disappointing.

As always, Serafina does not disappoint. The atmosphere is lovely inside and on the back patio. To bad we could not wait for the back patio and were seated street side. On a lovely summer evening even that was a pleasure.
The food is heavenly and the staff well trained and super friendly.
