Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Serafina offers live music every Saturday evening as well as Sunday brunch. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.
Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by Chef Christian Chandler. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, David Weeks, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.

Serafina Ratings and Reviews
We've been going to Serafina for about 20 years and it still amazes me that the quality of food and services has remained so high for so long. For most of those years we've lived on Vashon so only get to Serafina every few years--usually for celebrations like our anniversary. This last visit proved they still got it! A great meal--every course--super nice service in both bar and restaurant, and a very vibrant but romantic atmosphere. We try a lit of new places in the city but Serafina remains one of our all-time favorites and we'll keep coming back as long as things stay as they are.
It's been a long time since I had dinner at this gem of a restaurant. I rarely drive down Eastlake these days. A few nights ago I was passing by and thought we decided we would stop in for an appetizer and a glass or two of wine. That turned into dinner and more. This classic restaurant was terrific. Each course we had was perfect and not overdone. Every bite was delicious. Can't wait to head back.
Serafina, above Lake Union, is a longtime Seattle favorite - a great place to meet someone for a first dinner together, a terrific spot to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, and a comfortable, familial atmosphere for sealing a deal that's already been signed & sealed. With gracious, attentive and well informed staff, a sharp and deeply knowledgeable sommelier, and a warm, welcoming and almost maternal - on the floor - owner, a celebratory evening of live music and exquisite, rustic Italian food and wine unfolds and passes with seemingly no effort, all too quickly. One can deceive oneself into thinking that everyone in the room is having a grand time at the same party, when in fact, roughly a quarter of those in the room are busting their tails to keep that deception colorfully alive for the guests. Serafina is the sort of place one falls in love with and she's always there when one needs that special hug and kiss.
It doesn't get any better. Most aptly positioned as a neighborhood secret everyone loves. Serafina gives you everything you're looking for in a classic evening or brunch. Proud to be a disciple. You have to love that they prefer to be strictly by reputation only.
While we absolutely love Serafina, there were a few misses this time. The bread was cold. Almost icy. Considering that they charge $5 for a few slices, it was very surprising. My friend's salad really wasn't much of a salad - 4 lettuce leaves and very little vinagrette. Almost too dry. The main courses were fabulous as always and the mussels were superb.
We have not been to Serafina for years and had forgotten about it with all the new restaurants. Last week we took our daughter there and the three of us felt we had traveled to a quaint restaurant in Europe. Great service, beautiful lighting, delicious dinner and dessert. We will be back again soon and bring our friends.
The server does not pay attention to the clients and needs to come over the cashier to communicate. The food comes very late. I took more than 5 minutes to get next meal after we finished first one. The server asked desert and left the menu but did not come back more than 10 minutes. We did not take desert.
After being gone from Seattle for 15 years, I recently visited Serafina again and was happy to find the food and service still excellent. We ate there for Restaurant Week, and their 3-courses-for-$30 menu was delicious and offered a lot of variety. We'll definitely go back.
We were celebrating a birthday with a ladies weekend and went to Serafina for Sunday brunch. The food and service was great. They offered a dessert on the house for the birthday, but the food was so good and filling, we just couldn't do it. Definitely will save room next time.
I have been to Serafina many times and like it very much. However, last Saturday was not a good night. It took a very long time for dinner to arrive. While it looked okay it was definitely not up to normal standard.
Maybe a new cook or who knows. The waiters were standing around waiting for food to be ready mostly. :(
Disappointing. The chicken special was dry and bony pieces. The pasta dish that came with capellini had so little capellini it was almost undetectable in the dish. I have had much better food from Serafina in the past so this meal was disappointing in comparison.
Much too loud. I ordered a dish to go that for me to take home to my wife. I told the waitress about it when I was ordering for myself. She said the kitchen would start cooking when she served us. Then she forgot about it completely, and we needed to wait 15 minutes--with barely an apology. But the fish stew (different at each of my last 4 visits) and the pasta are incomparable as always
Took my mom for her71st Birthday dinner. Laurawas our server. She know the menu well, was so attentive to detail and gave us a wonderful dining experience. We a few items of small plates and every bite was so flavorful and tasty, unbelievable delicious! Can't wait to go back again!
I've had many great dinners over the years at Serafina, which was why I took my dear friend there for her birthday: I wanted a predictably great experience. We both ordered the same pasta and crab dish, which sounded fabulous but failed on many levels: it was cold, the pasta was wayyyy undercooked, not just al dente, which we like, and there was almost no sauce on mine. The waiter apologized but did not take anything off the bill--even after the second try was equally dismal. He did bring one free dessert. He acknowledged that the kitchen had been having some trouble with the dish, described the challenge in detail, and said he "valued" our feedback. But, evidently, not enough to take anything off the bill. All the discussion interrupted our evening; we just wanted to have a good meal. When they redid the dish, it was tepid and the pasta was even more undercooked—which we told him. Also, the pasta, which was, $26 per order, was served on a narrow rectangular plate that I would describe as being in the "small plate" category. I would have confronted the waiter about the bill, but given the occasion, it would have been awkward for my friend. Serafina, what happened?
I eat at Serafina occasionally - a least 4-5 times a year, mostly for business or casual lunches. I've always enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
It was odd that on my most recent visit for lunch that the service was slow and the restaurant was noisy, which made conversation difficult at our table. I hadn't experienced or noticed the noise issue on previous visits.
The food, as always was exceptional - I had the gnocchi!
Excellent dinner and service! Had the salmon special with peas and pea purre as well as the chicken with carrots and mushrooms. Both plates were seasond, prepared and well balanced. Both of the salads we had were also very good. Not my first time at Sarafina and definitely not my last. Our waiter was well informed, helpful in addressing the menu as well as a wine to pair with our meal. Excellent service.
