The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.
What a phenomenal dinner. Start to finish everything was exceptional.
The food is outstanding, it really surprised us given the price point and the general state of the restaurant's interior. I would only knock Serafina for the ambiance and the general shabby condition of the furnishings. We went at lunch time on a Tuesday (not peak time, admittedly), but the restaurant was probably half full. It was very quiet and the dance music on the stereo was really in our faces; the dance music jarred with the ambiance, we felt, but each to their own. The ambiance was a bit sterile as a result, it's not a memorable place to spend time, which is a shame because it can be so much more with a little more effort. Our personal taste, maybe. I wouldn't consider Serafina for a "special" dinner/lunch because it's clearly a "functional" restaurant, and because the furnishings are both rustic (paper table cloths and place mats) and shabby (the seats had holes in the cushions). Go there for great Italian food in a rustic, functional environment and you will be very happy. I'm sure they could triple their prices if they revamped the interior drastically and customers would still pour through the door, the food is that good.
Really enjoyed the meal and the mixed drinks-- ordered the Bruschetta, Polpettine, our favorite were the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and Rigatoni Bolognese. The Carbonara was far too peppery for our taste so we wish we had skipped out on that one. The place was full, so it gets a little loud in the space, but not too loud to hear each other just fine for a wonderful date night.
I live just across the way on Capital Hill. This is a neighborhood “go to” restaurant. It’s consistently delicious and homemade. The ambiance is calming and elegant. This is definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle.
Serafina remains our favorite restaurant. Always exceptional food, attentive service, in a unique neighborhood atmosphere.
Serafina delivered on a fabulous Easter Brunch. The special menu left me wanting to come back to try the other options. Beautiful event and lovely live music.
Serafina is a real treat. We love the cozy local atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. The food is top notch but $35 + beverage cost (even for coffee or juice) for 2 course Easter Brunch prix fixe menu is high so we only indulge for very special occasions. Live music serenading the guests throughout the meal added to the charm of the atmosphere.
Always great! Great food, service, atmosphere. Just a great experience.
Food was good and so was the service. The tables are really close together so we couldn’t even hear each other properly across the table. A good restaurant with a fun vibe
We had to shout across our table-for-two in order to hear each other -- a major and tiring downer. Not what I expected from this restaurant ... and disappointing. :-(
There for restaurant week. Chefs did a great job designing a menu to fit into the $35 budget. Will definitely be back to experience your actual menu. Favorite moment was when our server offered us a taste of the wine we were thinking about getting with our meal. Never have had that happen.
Thanks for what you do.
It was divine! The flavors were complex and well balanced on the out to lunch special menu for the fish and the salad. The eggplant rolls were presented in a very bright and perfectly flavored tomato sauce.
We plan to return. Service was impeccable.
A wonderful lunch experience. The food was excellent as was the service. One suggestion: please upgrade the dining room chairs most of which have torn and uncomfortable seats. A small improvement will make a big difference.
Honestly? Fabulous! Restaurant Week menu was all beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere is upscale casual, very friendly and always fun. Service excellent. Try the pulpo (octopus)!
A Seattle treasure still! Casual elegance all around. Outstanding service. Amazing meal.
Service was great! Always Have a great experience.
Lovely, delicious pasta lunch. We'll be going back!
Excellent meal during Seattle Restaurant Week. Everyone in our table of 4 left happy and full. A great choice for a friend gathering.
I’m a diehard fan of Serafina. The food is consistently excellent, from simple well-made salads to complex entrees. I love the ambiance (please don’t think to change it as so many other restaurants have) and the waitstaff strike the perfect balance between being always-attentive and yet never overbearing. Must-try dishes include: the cozze (mussels), rigatoni bolognese (best in Seattle) and wonderful desserts. Please bring back your profiteroles!
Much too loud! lettuce in the salad was bitter and not enough dressing. fish was OK but not stellar. pork loin was good.
We had a lovely dinner for my daughter’s birthday. It was the beginning of restaurant week, so several of us ate the specials, and a couple ordered off the regular menu. All of us had great food, the service was impeccable, and my daughter had a marvelous time.
LOVE Serafina. Expected delicious and Serafina did not disappoint. Every dish was amazing. Wonderful wine and cocktails. The king crab spaghetti was so good I'd return just for that. Serafina feels like fine dining. Intimate with just the right level of attentiveness from staff. Still friendly for our toddler. Staff helped customize some small dishes for my three year old. We all had a fantastic meal and enjoyed it immensely.
Excellent food and service. Menu is always spectacular and done perfectly. Definite a favorite
Always enjoy a meal at Serafina. The food is consistently very good and not overpriced. Ingredients are fresh and local. Great, attentive service. Good location for in town meal.
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant!! This was our 4th or 5th time there and only once were we not as impressed . I was in heaven with the food this time!! I wish we lived closer and I could be a regular!! Love it so much! We ordered an appetizer which was fried rissoto balls and that started the night right!! Sooo good and entrees were fabulous too!!!! Our server was great too!!
The food was so authentic and good!! We had a wonderful date night, and amazing memory to look back to!
Our family gathered to celebrate a significant birthday at our special restaurant. Everyone was very pleased with the dishes ordered and many sharing bites happened all around the table. Dessert was fab and the staff all helped to make the evening special for all of us.
First time at Serafina, though have driven by it every day for almost 4 years! Food was yummy, good recommendations from server, great server, attentive manager, knowledgeable sommelier, good wine. We will definitely be back!
We were in Seattle for 5 nights. Serafina was by far the best restaurant we visited, including several other high-end restaurants. The food was excellent and worth the prices. Last-minute reservations were scarce, so we opted for the 5:00 opening time. Excellent decision as we were the first patrons to arrive. The restaurant was just about full by 6:00.
We had an amazing experience at Serafina! Every dish at our table was loved and appreciated! We had a couple of accidents at the table, but the servers and support staff were happy to help us clean up the mess. As fantastic as the food was, the service and staff were the best! Thank you!
We loved every aspect of our dinner at Serafina from the first bite to the last! The service was wonderful, wine suggestions spot on, food delicious, etc. Over the years when we come to Seattle we always like to have dinner at Serafina and it never has disappointed us! We have also told many friends in our hometown of Yakima to eat at Serafina as well! We especially like the neighborhood vibe, knowing the customers are local instead of straight off a cruise ship in their sneakers and t-shirts!
Thanks for the lovely dining experience and be assured we will be back! Melissa Labberton
Very nice atmosphere and food was delicious!
Great food and cocktails. I had the bistecca - 16oz ribeye. Fantastic!
We have been going to Serafina since it opened, and it never fails to impress. We enjoy the food, the wine, the atmosphere and the service. If we lived across the street, we'd be there every day.
The food portions were very small for the price but very good. I had an excellent time
Another great meal. Starting with the charcuterie plate of wonderful salamis and prosciutto with pickles and mustard was excellent . Add a wonderful chianti then on to the main courses of melanzane [eggplant stuffed with ricotta, baked in a wonderful red sauce] and the halibut. Both outstanding and the always predictable great service!!
We love Serafina! It is one of favorite Italian Restaurants in Seattle. Good and service are always amazing. The Lasagna is the best we have ever had. The wines are also excellent. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience dining at Serafina’s restaurant. The atmosphere, service, food and drinks were excellent. We requested a quiet table and the hostess provided one.
The food, service and ambiance are always superb at Serafina, I have been dining there for many years and am never disappointed.
I did feel that the “large” serving of pasta we received this time was quite skimpy—and by volume a small would have only been about half a cup...
Always great across the board and fab business lunch spot.
