Serafina - Boston Back Bay
It was surprisingly not busy but the food is great! It was timed very well to give us time to chat during each round and as we finished plates, they were cleared quickly. Everything we selected had great flavor and presented well. Our waiter was outstanding. I really recommend the Limoncello...it’s amazing!
Food was just ok, service was possibly the worst I’ve experienced when the restaurant was empty when we arrived
Amazing truffle ravioli :)
Lovely delicious dessert for my birthday
They tried to charge me more than they had to, and it wasn’t a mistake.
Staff was very accommodating and flexible with our large group. Vegetarian spaghetti squash was delicious.
Server pushy and arrogant. We were two of 10 in the restaurant so there’s no rush to - I love the food but man, chill out.
We have a new favorite Italian restaurant in the back Bay. The food is incredible and the service went above and beyond. Ricardo made our anniversary celebration a very special experience.
I love the round tables which was great for our party of 10. The food was great, cocktails were good and service was good.
We booked an Open Table reservation for a party of 8, yet when we arrived they seemed very confused and did not have a table for us. They worked it out, but we did not have a server. The restaurant manager literally saved the day by taking our orders and serving our (very late, very confused) dinners. We ordered pizzas as appetizers and could see them sitting on the pizza counter for 10 minutes before my husband went to retrieve them himself! Drinks were slow, dinners came out at different times. All-together it was a bit of a disaster. The saving grace was that the food was delicious! Regardless, I don't think we will be back.
This place is a disaster. We walked out after appetizers. The tables are all crooked and need to be fixed. Then the waitress refused to write anything down and got everything wrong. We found out later they were short staffed as people called in sick. But still...she forgot to bring my husband his beer, noticed me looking at her while she was working the bar, so handed his beer to a bar patron to bring to us! Then our appetizer came which was Burrata..or we think it was. It was hard cheese and totally unappetizing. Then our meal never came. Everyone around us was miserable and unhappy. No one liked their food or the service. Manager came by when we said we wanted the check after 45 mins and our food still never arrived. The "manager is researching what happened" the waitress said. Manager kept wanting feedback and we just wanted the check. Skip it and go elsewhere.
Food was spectacular. We had fried calamari (well seasoned), Cesar salad- delicious, salmon and the homemade gnocchi. Ambiance is really nice, well decorated, good lighting and nice music. Great value for Newbury Street and much better food than what I have had elsewhere. Not only will I recommend, I will be back.
Our salads were excellent, as well as our sautéed greens and ravioli with browned sage butter. I thought the arrabiatta pasta sauce was very hot, fortunately my husband traded and gave me his pomadoro. Hostess was excellent too, making us feel comfortable.
Great food! The atmosphere is a little noisy and tables seem a little too close together, so it's easy to hear other people's conversations. The food was delicious and the menu had great variety.
Fine choice for casual dining on Newbury street. Only drawback is limited vine menu.
everything was ok . . . service was just ok . . . the food was fine!! the restaurant has so much potential but not outstanding.
The waitstaff seemed clueless, and it took them forever to notice us, take our drink order and our food order. I had to get up to get salt and pepper for our table, because they were that unattentive. What should have taken about an hour for a casual lunch, took forever. The food was fine/mediocre at best.
Great ambience and menu. Have been many times since opening however this night the service was “off”. It was a rainy Wednesday night and not that crowded and our server seemed to disappear after dropping our drinks and seemed to be at least 20 min before we could place food order. Also, when we’d asked for more oil for bread he said right away and never brought it. Seemed to disappear again and we couldn’t find him to ask for the oil again. However even with the service not at its best, ALL of our food was memorable-tasty shrimp scampi special and delicious farfalle limoncello. Drinks were equally delicious!
Had a simple margherita pizza which was very tasty. The salad verde was a good companion dish. Good place for lunch, dinner and late night snacks.
Met some family members here for lunch that were visiting from out of town. The food was great and the service was as well. We enjoyed our company and loved the atmosphere at Serafina. Will definitely be back!
Met a friend for lunch and got a table outside on the sidewalk. Very pleasant atmosphere, of course, and we had a light lunch but did not feel rushed in the slightest. We lingered quite a while after finishing and even after paying the bill, and there was no hinting that we should vacate the table. (I was watching the tables around us and would have left sooner if they had all been filled. There was always at least one vacant table, so it seemed ok to stay where we were.)
We tried the new Serafina location on Newbury, looking for a new Italian restaurant in the Back Bay. It was a warm Sunday evening, admittedly early at 5:30, but it was empty. The decor was very light, monotone and kinda hokey, not inviting or comfortable.
Our server was very sweet, but clearly inexperienced. Hubby ordered a gin & tonic and was informed that they did not have any gin - HUH? They had other liquor, we heard the "shake-shake" coming from the bar area.
Food was fine, I had the avocado shrimp salad which was very nice and fresh. Hubby had the bolognese, which looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, but tasted OK.
With so many choices in the area, I don't think we'd be back. Too bad, the reviews were good and they have a following from the downtown location.
Amazing food and great service! We love seating outside at the street level. The perfect place to relax had a delicious meal and people watch!
I would not go back. Too many fabulous restaurants in Boston. The good was just ok. Hi he ambience gets a thumbs down.
Amazing food. Great location and ambiance
Great food and drinks. Good value, and great staff.
We were very well taken care of. My 7yo daughter insists I mention that the chicken tenders were "deelishus" (and mama thought the fries were the best ever!)! Papa had the gnocchi, mama and MIL had the ravioli and FIL had the chicken Milanese - all good. Food, wine, sangria, staff, everything was top notch. Thanks for a notable evening!
It was a good place to go to get salads. Nothing special.
The food is excellent and creative but we were stunned that a 20% gratuity was added to our bill for a group of 4 without our knowledge. We received a non-itemized bill that gave no indication that a gratuity was embedded in the total. I asked for an itemized bill which revealed that the figure included he gratuity. I think this is unacceptable.
Not very good food
The food was delicious and Antonio’s service was simply amazing-thank you Antonio - you were key to our lovely experience. The gnocchi with bolognese sauce was spot on! The ravioli delicious, the branzinos made a huge impact and the calamari was an excellent appetizer. We loved seating outside. The tables are a much better choice than the former wooden picnic tables! They just need a bit of leveling fine-tuning. Overall un'esperienza favolosa!
Wish we knew Serafina did not have a full liquor license; something unique to those not from Mass. was the limitations of a cordial license.
Good service relaxed and friendly
Great shrimp & avocado salad for lunch. Serafina Chicken salad was excellent also.
No one liked their pasta. Noisy. Poor service. Overpriced.
It’s fine. That’s how I would describe my overall experience, “fine”. Nothing special, nothing horrible.
This was my 2nd visit to Serafina and it was a business dinner. We shared an appetizer that I had before and it seemed to have been "trimmed down", but tasted fine (it just didn't present as well).
For dinner we enjoyed the fish and the steak. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium rare, but it was medium well. It still tasted fine but could have been more moist.
Our server was very personable and did a great job explaining the different meats and cheeses on our appetizer (Nicolo).
Overall, it was a very nice evening and we enjoyed it!
The restauarant provided exceptional service from the time we arrived. We were early and sat by the bar then moved to a table. The reservation was late but the service made up for it and drinks were on the house. Everybody was great and we will be going back when in Boston!
