We went for our anniversary with my girlfriend to get a good time in a cozy and quiet place. Host and hostess not very welcoming and we were sitting close two table with very loud and disrespectful kids.
Service like a fast food and food like good enough... too expensive for what it is. Only the wine and the pizza were good. Disappointed...
Extremely poor service
It’s a loud, crowded place with great food. And even though it’s difficult for me to negotiate the stairs and the narrow aisles, we go every time we’re in the area.
Amazing service! Truffle risotto was a perfect way to end spring break in NYC!
Due to the downstairs dining area being very narrow, it was distracting with servers running back and forth at a hectic pace.
Food was great. Service was attentive but not hovering. Its a small place with nice atmosphere We will go back.
The food and service is consistently good. We always enjoy eating there/
Wonderful Sage & Butter ravioli...YUMMY! the waiters are really attentive and friendly.
The waiter was a bit rude because we came in close to the changeover to dinner. Instead of kindly letting us know the kitchen. Would be closing soon, he barked it at us. Other than that it was a very pleasant experience.
Place was very nice and had a very nice bar also service was very good but food was bland and dry.
An easy spot for an early dinner. Their filet burger is seriously good!
Pasta dishes a bit bland but well prepared. Tiramisu fantastic! Service was good overall.
Great for kids! Service was fantastic
Wow! Absolutely delicious!!! Everything we ordered was more than expected!
As an Italian, I would say that this restaurant needs a complete overhaul. I was embarrassed to have taken my date here for a valentine's day diner. This was NOT Italian food. The calamari was good, the tar tar was good. The linguini and ravioli was about the same quality of a store bought package. I was craving Italian so badly, that I drove home to visit my family to make a real Italian meal. I suppose that is a silver lining.
Terrible experience. After specifying that my daughter had celiac disease and needed her food to be prepared separately, we were assured that precautions would be taken. Our nima sensor detected gluten in our food, which is unacceptable. We waited 25 minutes for the food to be prepared again. Then our waiter insulted us for asking questions about the bill. Not to return again!
In the past we have made it a habit to come here down from our hotel when we come to NYC. We have always enjoyed it tremendously, albeit not gourmet it was always consistent.
That said this trip will cure us. I don’t want to waste the time or a meal in the city on this. It has become very corporate and uninspired. Don’t bother as there are tons of better options!
We have a subscription to 59 east 59th Street and have eaten here several times. The food is always delicious and the service is always excellent.
We went for Sunday brunch. The service was spotty and we (a group of 10) were mostly ignored. The Bloody Mary’s were awful and when we asked for some olives, Tabasco, and extra tomato juice to help, we were met with some attitude. Then most of our meals were cold, over-cooked, and not very good. The whole experience was incredibly disappointing from a restaurant at which I’ve had such great experiences in the past.
Very quick and attentive service. Food was perfect for what we wanted. We sat on the second level, with a street view. The bar and downstairs portion of the restaurant were much livelier. We would dine here again.
A bit noisy but good food!
Great! Loved it!
Serafina has become kind of tired. Same menu for 15 years. Food was mediocre. Service was slow and with attitude. Hadn’t been in years. Will take it off the list, just not worth it.
Pizza was cold. Beer was warm. Steak was undercooked then overcooked into a hockey puck. Service was abysmal. Don't waste your time or money. So many better options and restaurants that care about their customer experience.
Awful experience, avoid this location
Noisy, obnoxious service especially the seating hostess. Service slow, had to ask 3 times. Too crowded, too busy. Food not bad but I won't eat there again it's just an overpriced local . Tables on top. Owners trying to churn as much money/ tables as poss.....
Excellent food, ambience and price. You can’t go wrong here!
Booked this restaurant for New Years Eve as it didn’t advertise a Prix Fixe menu which one of the reasons we booked it, normal menu lookd good and plenty of choice at a reasonable price. When we got there around 9.30pm on NYE they then informed us of the Prix Fixe menu, it seemed a little too late (and cold -15C) to start walking around looking for somewhere else. Unfortunately due to ingredients I can’t eat there was only 1 starter out of 2 choices I could choose from, the kids didn’t really fancy any of them and 1 main meal out of 3, which was fish, potatoes and green beans, there was only 1 desert which was a piece of tiramisu between 4 of us, again, I couldn’t eat this and the kids didn’t like it as it had something in it, possibly liqueour. The final amount for this was $473. Such a shame as I was looking forward to it as the regular menu looked fabulous. Felt ripped off, wish they would have put it in their website about it being a Prix Fixe menu!
Hostess is harried. She tried to seat us at the bar. Once seated at a table, we ordered delicious homemade soup ($9.50 each). The meal was straight downhill after that. Bread is ok. Dining experience is rushed, more like a luncheonette than a restaurant. Din is intolerable. Main courses, lasagne and rigatoni, were mediocre at best. They were $19.50 each, and weren’t even freshly cooked. I think they were related in a microwave...Tables are on top of each other. We would never return.
Service was incredibly slow. Though we were seated at a table where waiters were constantly crossing, it was difficult to get attention. Our busboy was more attentive and helpful when we could get his attention, but the waiter left us hanging and at one point seemed to disappear completely. Additionally, the food is VERY overpriced for what it is. I ordered the spaghetti squash dish, which was decent, but not worth $19, especially not for the portion and the sprinkling of other veggies and sauce offered alongside it.
The staff essentially ignored us. We were planning a night out, would have liked a second round of drinks, couldn’t get anyone’s attention. The food was cold and tasteless. It took 45 minutes to get the check. I’ve eaten at other locations and had great food and lovely service. This was a huge disappointment and I won’t return.
Great Italian, nice ambiance...servers not so great. Quite rude would sum it up. I felt like were being served by a waiter in Chinatown.
The food was delicious, the waiter was rude!
I would still come back for the food though.
Food and service were very good, however, they sat us at a table close to door, so we were cold most of the night.
Always a sure bet! Food is diverse for everyone. Consistent with quality of food, service and ambiance!
The restaurant itself is nice and the food was good, but the service was not. Everything was rushed from the second we sat down. We had to ask for bread and our drinks several times and the wait staff seemed annoyed by us asking normal questions- example for grated cheese and bread. Definitely not impressed by the service and the food was good, but there is definitely much better to be had in the city... this just fits a good price point if traveling w/ a large group and trying to keep costs fairly low.
We went for brunch the first time and there was hardly anyone there. It was empty and the food was not good. It’s a dinner place I guess.
I’ve had many great dinners at this restaurant but the dinner on Saturday was poor. The food was dry and cool, the service was slow, and the area in which we were sitting was too crowded.
Food was delicious
Good for kids. Convenient for groups.
