Serafina Always Ratings and Reviews
As an Italian, I would say that this restaurant needs a complete overhaul. I was embarrassed to have taken my date here for a valentine's day diner. This was NOT Italian food. The calamari was good, the tar tar was good. The linguini and ravioli was about the same quality of a store bought package. I was craving Italian so badly, that I drove home to visit my family to make a real Italian meal. I suppose that is a silver lining.
Terrible experience. After specifying that my daughter had celiac disease and needed her food to be prepared separately, we were assured that precautions would be taken. Our nima sensor detected gluten in our food, which is unacceptable. We waited 25 minutes for the food to be prepared again. Then our waiter insulted us for asking questions about the bill. Not to return again!
In the past we have made it a habit to come here down from our hotel when we come to NYC. We have always enjoyed it tremendously, albeit not gourmet it was always consistent.
That said this trip will cure us. I don’t want to waste the time or a meal in the city on this. It has become very corporate and uninspired. Don’t bother as there are tons of better options!
We went for Sunday brunch. The service was spotty and we (a group of 10) were mostly ignored. The Bloody Mary’s were awful and when we asked for some olives, Tabasco, and extra tomato juice to help, we were met with some attitude. Then most of our meals were cold, over-cooked, and not very good. The whole experience was incredibly disappointing from a restaurant at which I’ve had such great experiences in the past.
Noisy, obnoxious service especially the seating hostess. Service slow, had to ask 3 times. Too crowded, too busy. Food not bad but I won't eat there again it's just an overpriced local . Tables on top. Owners trying to churn as much money/ tables as poss.....
Booked this restaurant for New Years Eve as it didn’t advertise a Prix Fixe menu which one of the reasons we booked it, normal menu lookd good and plenty of choice at a reasonable price. When we got there around 9.30pm on NYE they then informed us of the Prix Fixe menu, it seemed a little too late (and cold -15C) to start walking around looking for somewhere else. Unfortunately due to ingredients I can’t eat there was only 1 starter out of 2 choices I could choose from, the kids didn’t really fancy any of them and 1 main meal out of 3, which was fish, potatoes and green beans, there was only 1 desert which was a piece of tiramisu between 4 of us, again, I couldn’t eat this and the kids didn’t like it as it had something in it, possibly liqueour. The final amount for this was $473. Such a shame as I was looking forward to it as the regular menu looked fabulous. Felt ripped off, wish they would have put it in their website about it being a Prix Fixe menu!
Hostess is harried. She tried to seat us at the bar. Once seated at a table, we ordered delicious homemade soup ($9.50 each). The meal was straight downhill after that. Bread is ok. Dining experience is rushed, more like a luncheonette than a restaurant. Din is intolerable. Main courses, lasagne and rigatoni, were mediocre at best. They were $19.50 each, and weren’t even freshly cooked. I think they were related in a microwave...Tables are on top of each other. We would never return.
Service was incredibly slow. Though we were seated at a table where waiters were constantly crossing, it was difficult to get attention. Our busboy was more attentive and helpful when we could get his attention, but the waiter left us hanging and at one point seemed to disappear completely. Additionally, the food is VERY overpriced for what it is. I ordered the spaghetti squash dish, which was decent, but not worth $19, especially not for the portion and the sprinkling of other veggies and sauce offered alongside it.
The staff essentially ignored us. We were planning a night out, would have liked a second round of drinks, couldn’t get anyone’s attention. The food was cold and tasteless. It took 45 minutes to get the check. I’ve eaten at other locations and had great food and lovely service. This was a huge disappointment and I won’t return.
The restaurant itself is nice and the food was good, but the service was not. Everything was rushed from the second we sat down. We had to ask for bread and our drinks several times and the wait staff seemed annoyed by us asking normal questions- example for grated cheese and bread. Definitely not impressed by the service and the food was good, but there is definitely much better to be had in the city... this just fits a good price point if traveling w/ a large group and trying to keep costs fairly low.
We were initially placed at a table second in from the front door and it was cold each and every time the door opened. When we asked to be changed to another table, we were accommodated; however, I question should we even have had to ask. The restaurant should know that table receives drafts from the outside particularly on a cold winter's day. The service was brisk and the food came quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly.
Overall it is always an easy place to go for a lunch.
I arrived with my 8 girlfriends for a fun saturday night out. We were seated upstairs in a quieter section even though downstairs was definitely a more vibrant scene. After 5 minutes, the waiter came over and told us to be quiet even before we ordered anything.
Then we ordered drinks and it took 25-30 minutes per drink. When we complained to the waiter he stated that we shouldn't order cocktails and should just get wine if we wanted to drink. We were confused by this and questioned why and he said well obviously theyre taking too long. It was a Saturday night and there is no excuse to wait 25-30 minutes for a drink when you are sitting at a table.
They did comp us desserts but it was beyond repair.
We arrived at Serafina for our reservation and we were seated promptly at a table very adequate for our party of 6. Our party arrived at staggered times (not planned) but the staff was so very accommodating to us and made all of us feel most comfortable. The service was impeccable and our dishes arrived just as we hoped when we ordered and they were the perfect temperature. Thank you for a most enjoyable relaxing evening.
the good was quite good but service was really horrible. We had to wave down a waiter to place orders and when we finished our (first) drinks a bus boy came by and just took the glasses - we had to stop him and ask for another round. I would go back because I liked the food and the pricing but really it is very noisy and the service needs improvement.
