The food was very delicious and the place was beautiful. Unfortunately, our server did not know any details about the dishes. When we asked him about a dessert (white peach), he told us that it was a cake which is why we ordered it -- we got an ice cream.... he also could not answer any questions about our dishes -- whether the swordfish was a whitefish or not...? The place and food are amazing and we still had fun.

ngredients are of good quality. The flavor of the dishes are just not on par with other Michelin 1-star restaurants. Let alone the timing of the dishes and other services.

Overall we had a wonderful anniversary. Our server was very helpful, yet we felt rushed throughout the course of the evening. Not a huge fan of sitting so close to other couples, but we have learned to work through it.

Our evening at Sepia was wonderful. We both had the tasting menu, and I had the wine pairing. The wines were tremendous- interesting, and well chosen. The food was outstanding; standouts were the tandoori seared hamachi and the rabbit. I very much appreciated the chef's respect for the diner- the flavors were challenging sometimes, in the best of all possible ways, and everything was fresh. The service was extraordinary, and we were given a commemorative copy of the menu to take home (the only other time that has happened to me was at Charlie Trotter's over 10 years ago). Sophisticated, careful, and yet warm and welcoming.

My lunch companions raved about the chicken dish. It did look delicious. The falafel dish had good flavor but was somewhat small in portion. The service was outstanding and the ambiance cannot be matched.

Sepia menu is small but varied enough for most to find good selection. Portions are small so recommend either starter or dessert. We asked for bread before entrees served so had something to munch since we opted for dessert. Swordfish and short rib ordered and were delicious. Shared dessert was peanut butter mousse with chocolate--phenomenal. Food never disappoints here. Staff is friendly and attentive. No one is stuffy.

Shank Steak was extremely fatty and very chewy, little taste. Ordered the Duck Breast medium and it wasn't rare, it was raw.

We are always amazed, and pleased, with the care Sepia takes in pairing its food with unusual and wonderful wine offerings. We like to have a glass with each course, and we let the wine steward surprise us. His choices never disappoint! We had a fabulous meal; we tried the vegetarian falafel and the rabbit main courses and loved them. We recommend Sepia enthusiastically.

We were fortunate enough to come during their anniversary and had their tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was extraordinary, the service wonderful and the wine selections creative and delicious. Could not have been happier. Pricey but worth it!

Outstanding food and service. We went with our friend visiting from the U.K., so indulged in the tasting menu celebrating Sepia's 10th anniversary. Every morsel was a wonder. We were spoiled with fantastic tastes from start to finish, with every server paid close attention to us- a wonderful experience.

Wouldn't recommend. Much needed improvements in the kitchen as well as old and worn decor in the restaurant. Way over due on remodeling and food is nothing special.

Business lunch:
The fish and the burger dishes were good. The falafel dish our potential client ordered was an embarrassingly small portion. Two small falafel. I encouraged her to order another entree, but she declined.

Attractive, contemporary restaurant, perfect for entertaining clients and prospective candidates in a quiet, urbane setting. Service was efficient and unobtrusive, never intruding on business conversations. Food was good-to-very good: underwhelmed on the blue fish at lunch, in terms of portion and flavor, but the thai chicken sausage was tasty and good-sized. (Lunch) Prices were appropriate. Will make it a regular 'stop' with associates, clients and candidates.

Dining at Sepia is a wonderful experience. My SO and I were celebrating our anniversary, and we went on a Sunday night. It was not very busy, so we did not have to strain to have a conversation while sitting across from each other. Even if it were busier, I think the volume wouldn't be too much different. Any loud groups would have ruined the ambiance. Our server's name was Jose, and he was a gracious host. He answered all of my questions about the menu options, and I felt at ease hearing about their ability to accommodate dietary restrictions.

My SO is vegan, and he was able to order a vegan tasting menu, while I ordered the regular tasting menu. There were 6 courses total, with a couple complimentary goodies given at the beginning and end of our dinner. The dishes were creative and beautifully presented. Silverware was replaced after each course, and our water glasses were refilled often. Although the portions were small, I felt full after I finished everything. We were even given personalized menus at the end of the night as mementos of the occasion. The meal cost $250 with tax and tip (although available we opted to not indulge in the wine pairing).

I would definitely recommend Sepia for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or graduations.

Had the 5 course tasting menu sans wine pairing, but had a cocktail. My old fashioned came w/ a traditional ice block, but the lemon and cherry were frozen in the ice and didn't melt enough to gain the full flavors. Not a traditional old fashioned.
As for the food, it was very good to excellent. The only reason I take points off would be that 2 of my dishes had pretty significant spice to them which was as subtle as a sledgehammer. Not sure where it came from b/c I did not notice any obvious peppers. And in my opinion the dessert could have been more creative.
But overall, I was very pleased to find a Michelin starred restaurant having an open table same day reservation on a Saturday night.

We had a delicious dinner for my husband's birthday! The menu changes often and the chef uses lots of fresh seasonal ingredients in interesting ways. We started with the cheese plate and they were able to substitute some of the cheeses for me to all pasteurized cheeses due to my pregnancy, which was great. I had an amazing, perfectly cooked chicken dish with mushrooms and sautéed greens in a wonderful tangy sauce. My husband had the swordfish which he said was also very good. The peanut butter mousse dessert is to die for!! We did not do the prie fixe tasting this time since I was pregnant and couldn't have swordfish, but it looked amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious, even the potatoes confit. Overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

OK, this is a good restaurant, but not really as good as European Michelin star restaurants. What was truely great? The cocktails and absolutely unique quiet atmosphere even though the restaurant was full.
