Went for our anniversary and decided on the prefixe 5 course meal with wine pairs. Food was beyond outstanding and service was excellent. Every staff member was knowledgeable of the food and wine pairings and did everything to make our experience memorable. This restaurant is very high end and the prices reflect that. So be warned that it isn’t cheap, but definitely worth it!

The Ambiance was very lovely. However, the service was very bad. The waitress was very slow and unfriendly. Furthermore, the food was not worth the price. Chicago has better options.

Service dies not get enough credit often but it is really good here. The wine list is beautiful if ridiculously expensive. The food was fussy and fun so be prepared. A fun special night

We enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairing.3 of the 5 dishes were fantastic and two were very good but not exceptional. The cocktails were excellent.

Very creative and original. The captains are so knowlegable about the food but especially the wine. I ate at a Mischelin 2 star the night before at 3 times the price and not nearly as good. The service is exceptional

Lovely - great service, fabulous food, love the typed menus (take home special menu) outlining our food choices on the Prix Fixe menu, the chef was kind enough to support my request for a "menu" change, will certainly be a favorite when I visit your city. Service, Ambiance, and menu beautiful. Great "take away" feeling. Our server was wonderful.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with good friends that enjoy good food as much as we do. Lovely space; very interesting and welcoming. Comfortable seating; loved the bar area. Waitstaff amazing and attentive without being interfering. Dressed in such a nice way; not server like, more like a friend sharing dinner. Food was absolutely amazing -- starters to entrees to dessert. I will never look at swordfish again in quite the same way knowing how it was presented and tasted at Sepia. So so so good! Combinations of foods and seasonings was outstanding. So well prepared and so delicious.

We did not enjoy our meal. Duck was too gamey and steak had no flavor and was dry. Our server never even asked if we liked our food. We spent alot of money on food we didnt even eat.

Excellent all around. Would recommend for any event. Very attentive to our needs: dietary considerations, time constraints( we were going to the theatre after dinner), and special evening ( my son's birthday). The service was exceptional as was the food.

I’m an experienced diner. I’ve been to Sepia several times & have the same comments/complaints. The food is not served warm, it’s room temp at best, bordering on cold. Even on fairly quiet evenings, it seems to take a long time in between courses; makes me wonder if the food is just sitting in the kitchen. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve ordered but I have had dishes where the flavors just don’t seem to click together. It is conveniently located to opera house & theaters. I probably would not go back again.

Sepia is a Chicago classic that feels like it opened yesterday. Never gimmicky (or on the bleeding edge) but always delicious, it's the perfect place to bring timid out-of-towners and jaded local food snobs - both will love it.

We used Sepia as an intro to friends for Chicago's fine dining. Chef Zimmerman's attention to flavor, texture, and unique flavor profiles per dish, is so worth it! Beautiful starters including tandoori infused Hamachi and grilled squid with crazy off the wall flavors- somewhere near Asian but not really. Saffron infused ragu, roasted rabbit, and beef tenderloin followed by a goat cheese cheesecake w beet sorbet rounded off the dinner. Gorgeous wines off of Arthur Som's 10 year Sepia Anniversary featuring 2007 vintages. All inside a classic interior where there is enough buzz for fun, yet people can still hold conversations. Have always loved it and we continue to do so!

We were very excited to try this Michelin star restaurant after reading all of the wonderful reviews. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to our expectations and was mediocre especially for the price. The swordfish was supposed to be cooked medium rare but it was very dry. We ordered sweet potatoes as a side and they were so burnt on the outside we could not chew them. The combinations of flavors in the majority of our dishes was not good. There was a paste under the scallops which tasted like sour mud. We were hoping dessert would be a nice way to end the meal but it was just so-so.
We had made an 8:15 reservation which would have earned us 1000 points and arrived a few minutes after 8:00. They changed the time of our reservation to 7:45 thereby changing the open table points to 100 instead. We would not go here again.

Had a blast! Was looking for a place to take my grandfather to celebrate his 85th, and my expectations were far exceeded. Great food, drink, and atmosphere. Kim was awesome, and knew the wine list cold. Highly recommend the duck.

During my dinner at Sepia, the waiter was not very attentive. Multiple times it was obvious that he was just not paying attention to us, even in the middle of a conversation. We ordered a wine and then didn't see the waiter or our wine for a good twenty minutes after that. The food wasn't terrible, but I wasn't blown away like I usually am at restaurants with such high ratings. Overall, I was just really underwhelmed by the whole experience.

We were thrilled with the outstanding service and accommodation of our dietary restrictions. I am Grain, Sugar, Legume, Dairy free and our server did an outstanding job with recommendations. I did call ahead to let the restaurant know of the restrictions and they could not have been any more accommodating at every step. Our server was absolutely wonderful, friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Everyone in our group greatly enjoyed their meals which consisted of the rabbit dish, the swordfish, the squid and the chicken dish. Beautifully plated presentations and oh so tasty! I got a side of the potato comfit with gin salt and suddenly everyone at the table was helping me with those! So good! The atmosphere is beautiful and cozy with great energy without being noisy. We hope to return again very soon. Loved every bit of it.
