Overall, the service was outstanding. Kim was very attentive and knowledgeable. The drinks were excellent. We had planned for a two hour meal, based upon notes from the website. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours and there were large gaps of time in between courses, the kitchen seemed behind. Some of our food choices were excellent and some were not as good as we had anticipated. The food was, however, on par with the cost.
We had a delightful time. The food was superb and the service was outstanding.
Delightful place to celebrate, a very special dinner!
It was our first visit to Sepia after so many positive recommendations from friends. We were able to reserve a table for outdoor dining and it was the perfect evening. However, we would like to return to have the same stellar experience in the beautiful interior.
Only criticism is that the outdoor area appearance does not match the high level of service, drinks & food.
First time at a Michelin starred restaurant, amazing experience.
The tasting menu was absolutely unreal. Everything was so memorable and we will be back!
The 4 course tasting menu was fantastic. Starting off with frois gras “tart” was creamy and buttery; 2nd course was egg over porridge with crispy mushrooms and then ricotta agnolotti. Delish! Dessert was chocolate mouse with frozen/cold banana. We also did the wine pairing. It was a great start to our trip in Chicago and we would return! Wonderful service and especially loved the quieter ambiance.
Very good balance of flavors. Amazing staff. Sepia strives and achieves perfection.
Amazing food, just gorgeous (they got their Michelin star recently)! Interesting cocktails, great service and some chocolates with the bill :) Thank you for this experience!
Food was fantastic, timing of the courses was well spaced. The atmosphere was comfortable quiet and easy for conversation. Service was attentive and energetic.
Delicious menu with smart wine parings and inventive cocktails. Lovely service.
Our waiter Alex was phenomenal!!!! We also thought the food and presentation was delicious and we would have gladly paid double the bill it was that good of an experience!
The food is art and delicious. Let the server choose your meal!!!
Nice overall experience.
Delicious and excellent service! Loved our waitress, Kim. The play on scotch egg with potatoes, wheat berries, consume was outstanding! One of the best dishes I've had in awhile and will return just to eat it again. Also loved, loved, loved the trout Wellington dish and the asparagus 2 ways was bright with citrus and ramp oil. Yum. It was all so good, but those dishes were stand out.
Wonderful atmosphere! Very safe and COVID adjusted to include QR code menus, staff wearing masks, hand sanitizer for guests, etc. Service was exceptional and the food was creative and wonderful.
Phenomenal food and fantastic service. Absolutely deserving of their Michelin star. Highly recommend it and looking forward to seeing how the restaurant evolves.
Outstanding meal. Chef prepared my wife a vegan tasting price fixe that she loved!!
Another outstanding meal at Sepia. Tasting menu and wine pairing once greatly complemented each other.
Helped us out with a surprise gender reveal - so much fun! Thank you Sepia!!
Our experience at Sepia was overall quite good. All of the savory courses and dishes were exquisitely plated and good but not special/memorable. It felt like everything lacked a pop or clarity of purpose. This is as especially true when considering that this style of dining typically makes individual ingredients really sing. This review would’ve been 3* if not for the absolutely delicious and truly memorable dessert dishes that did not suffer from the above issue.
Amazing place. Would go back in a heartbeat. The wine pairing is amazing.
The food was AMAZING. However, some of the wait staff can use more training/coordination. Still a place worth checking out!
Food- asparagus is the best! How could vegetables be so tasty and crispy! The fish and blueberry yoghurt are also good. For the duck I asked for medium but I feel like it’s a lil over cooked. Maybe rare would be better.
Love the atmosphere and service. A lovely dinner!
The food was excellent, and the wine pairings really brought out the various courses.
Absolutely perfect. Beautifully presented exquisite food
Excellent menu, preparation, and presentation!
Spectacular. For every course, the chef was able to put together every flavor and texture like perfect mathematical equations. The wine list was meticulously crafted to cover an astonishing amount of classic regions and varietals, but then a pleasant surprise of lesser known wines spread throughout the list. The sommelier came to help us out and even brought us a very heft sample pour of a specific wine we were talking about. We ended up ordering the wine pairing, which was perfectly selected, but it did leave me wanting to explore a little more of that wine list. The sommelier came back to follow up and talk a little more about the wines we were having with the pairing, nice touch. However, our fabulous server Tangie was already giving us great descriptions of them. Everything about the experience was special.
Everything tasted fantastic and was meticulously prepared and presented. One of the best meals I have had in my more than 6 decades.
What a wonderful place... Experienced, thoughtful staff, first of all and most importantly. Second, having choices within a tasting menu is great! The food was meticulous and delicious with surprise tastes. Thank you again!
Really enjoyed this meal. Every dish we had was spot on and the service was impeccable. Our favorite courses were all of the fish dishes.
The only thing I can say is that we were sat next to a table of business men who were swearing loudly and kept talking about women inappropriately.
The 4 course menu which gave 1 choice from 3 options in each course was excellent. The creativity and tastes were unbelievable. Chef Andrew Zimmerman is a unique talent.
The food and wine courses were excellent, but I found the bread to be unappealing and the amuse-bouche unpleasant. The pacing of the meal was unacceptable for a solo diner. 1:45 min for 4 courses. table was not ready on time and wobbled. loud, some acoustic tiles would go a long way to quiet dinners with poor manners.
Sepia was great. Enjoyed the food and wine pairing, and the ambiance was amazing as well.
Exquisite fine dining that is still approachable.
All of the food was a work of art that tasted so rich and delicious. Loved the Parmesan crusted bread churros. Sweetbreads were crunchy and savory delights. Tanjie was there for us! We had a great time. Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Great service and attention to detail
We went to Sepia for my husband's 30th birthday. It was amazing. Everything from the service, to the food/drinks, and ambiance was outstanding. Would absolutely visit again if we're in the Chicago area.
