The food was good but it was loud. However, a good restaurant indeed has a lot of customers. I love the lamb rack and the dessert. A good place for date. By the way, the bread was not served to us. That was the only thing that I was unsatisfied about. Other things were great.
Great food and wonderful service in a unique and lively atmosphere. Recommend the beets and the ducks. The wine selection is wonderful as well. All in all, a wonderful dinner.
Andrew Zimmerman and his team have outdone their selves. Fresh, inventive, perfectly paired and perfectly prepared. I will recommend Sepia over and over again!
Superb dinner and ambiance!
no review, it's always good … and in any case i don't like to diss places * but even when it's not QUITE at the top of its game (maybe food-wise this time), it's always an experience: like the garlic roasted chicken breast—i mean, anywhere else this is ordinary, but the taste combinations were both wonderfully adventurous and unexpected … nothing easy or ho-hum about this at all
but this is what we go to SEPIA for anyway … it's yet to disappoint!
Everything was top notch, from the time we walked thru the door. Food was great.
Staff were warm and welcoming. The food was excellent. We ordered the cheese plate which was a nice appetizer. We had the wafts beef and trout entrees - both beautifully prepared and delicious. We had the mousse and sorbet for desert - very tasty. In addition, we were presented with an amuse bouche before the entrees and a sweet ending of mini French macaroons and homemade marshmallows. The server was very friendly and personable but the service was a bit slow with extended wait between courses. That was the only down side of a very enjoyable meal.
The tasting menu was, well, "tasty". A variety of creative approaches to composition, presentation, and flavors. The wine pairings were uniformly excellent. We had a great time chatting with Jennifer Wagoner, the sommelier. Great and very eclectic wine list. Great evening.
The food is very enjoyable. Lots of nice flavors. The staff is very attentive. The Wine service is excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and business dinners.
Delicious 3 course price fix meal that hit the spot. Could they be a bit more creative with the desserts rather than very plain cookies or simple cake, yes, they could, but all the rest of the ingredients were outstanding, as always.
Always consistently good food and service. However, they make a big deal about ordering in time for the opera, and they claim to have the menu online. I looked the day of and chose selections, only to find the menu substantially different when I arrived. They shouldn’t claim to have an updated menu online if they’re not going to do so.
I really enjoyed my business lunch at Sepia. The food was excellent and the service very good. The place is pretty quiet which made conversation possible.
Wonderful dinner. We had the price fix chef’s selection with pairings and it was fantastic.
I west to dinner at layout 530pm February 16th. I was thinking it would be a great dinner. Firstly the server was one of the worst I've had in a fine dining restaurant. There was no enthusiasm and explanation of anything. I said I wanted a course menu mind you the most expensive thing per customer. Usually in a fine dining place the waitress is suppose to come out and explain the dish. This restaurants server only explained the very first item which was a complimentary from the chef, everything else was just thrown on the table. She never came once to say how is everything, had to flag her for more water numerous times. Also the table was not properly seated so it was rocking back and forth almost spilling my wife's wines. I was extremely upset with the level of service with the amount I spent.
Food was really good but we sat there and watched two tables get sat after us get their servers to take their order and get their first course before our server came back to take our orders... We understand it was Valentine’s Day and how crazy it can be but sitting 20mins without being acknowledged was not great
The valantines day tasting menu was disappointing.
Great food, conversation friendly and excellent service.
I had high expectations for this restaurant, but ended up a little disappointed with the meal. Nothing about the food was bad, but nothing about it stood out. Maybe if we’d been able to order off the standard menu it would have been a different experience. We booked a table during what happened to be restaurant week, and arrived to learn that the abbreviated restaurant week menu was the only one being served. There was an option to include a wine flight, which everyone at my table did. The flight was truly a flight and not a pairing, and so all four glasses were served at once, at the beginning of the meal. Unfortunately, this meant that the white, rose and bubbles were warm by the time we went to drink them. The food courses were good, but really nothing spectacular, and the portions were more meager than we expected, even for a nicer restaurant. Service was average, and the restaurant itself had a nice aesthetic.
First time I am unhappily surprised with food in a Michelin star restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. Service and the wine was pretty good. I wouldn't go back
The food was presented beautifully but was SO SALTY. All four dishes.
Delicious food & wine and excellent, professional service. Would highly recommend!
It was our first time dining at Sepia. We've heard wonderful experiences from friends and family. Weve been to a couple Michelin star rated restaurants before, and we were thoroughly impressed with the ambience, plates & presentation, and guest hospitality. The restaurant week menu was simply irresistible. But the service we received was amongst the best we've experienced. From the start, the hostesses carried a welcoming demeanor. Our server, although did not introduce herself, was very friendly and the support staff were attentive. One of the managers, Arnaud, came to our table and introduced himself and asked us about or dinner thus far. He was very personable and very knowledgeable when I had questions about the plates and a little about the restaurant itself.
Everyone wished us a wonderful evening and urged us to come back. I look forward to dining and enjoying our next visit.
We dined at Sepia because of their offerings during restaurant week. We were very impressed and plan to return and experience the regular menu.
First time at Sepia, took advantage of restaurant week. Loved the food, service is top notch. Only complaint is the lighting in the dining room.
Food and service was exceptionally good.
Chair to table ratio is a bit off, and our table wobbled. Table also looked a little worn.
Reward for my team
We enjoyed having lunch at Sepia during Restaurant Week. We were pleased with the menu choices offered. Sepia is a favorite place of ours. The cuisine never fails to disappoint and the service is exemplary. Our recent visit was no exception. If you haven't dined at Sepia, you're definitely missing
out. Their cuisine is innovative. Food is attractively presented. Service is impeccable.
Loved this place!
It was Chicago dining month with a prix fixe 3 course meal with several choices for each course.
The decor and ambiance was beautiful, service friendly & attentive without being overbearing, and the food.... wow yum!
Had an endive & blue cheese salad for starter, pan seared whitefish for entree & a delightfully light poppyseed cake for dessert. The wine flight complimented it perfectly.
I can’t wait to go back and try the full dinner experience!
Food was great quality, however service was subpar. Drink orders were missed, staff felt stand offish and snobby at times. Overall Michelin level food but not service.
Chef Zimmerman’s food was impeccable and the service was complementary. Jonathan was knowledgeable and anticipated every need. Highly recommend visiting Sepia.
We went there during Chicago Restaurant Week. The ravioli with carrot were exceptional. The beets and tenderloin were good but not worth a Michelin Star restaurant
The place is beautiful, service exceptional and food is out of this planet, one of the best restaurants in Chicago
We loved Sepia. The food was outstanding, especially the ravioli. The service was wonderful. Loved the room and the ambience. And just felt great at the end of that meal. The restaurant week menu was an incredible value, too, including for the wine pairing, which was so, so good. Thanks so much!
The Restaurant Week menu was terrific!
Good food, nice service. Reasonable price. Nothing to complain.
We had a wonderful evening during Restaurant week. Attentive service, easy conversation level, and very good food.
Visited Sepia during Chicago Restaurant Week. Bar tender was amazing! His speciality was to create a drink base on your favorite color. The tasting menu was good. Instead of wine pairing, they offered a wine flight at a very reasonable price. Wish they would have made it a pairing base on your meal.
Service was awkward.
Felt rushed out at the end especially when we didn’t ask for the check the service just brought it.
I attended Sepia, one of my favorite places for Restaurant Week. Compared to other high callibar restaurants, I found their portions small, especially the entre. The service was slow and our server seemed annoyed when we asked her for more information on the wine flights. I left still hungry, which was the first time during this annual event.
