About
Blending together Japanese and Peruvian influences, Sen Sakana is the finest example of Nikkei cuisine in New York. Sen Sakana is a Non-Tipping Restaurant.
Food was good and interesting but service wasn’t great. Servers spent a lot of time huddled around talking. Overall good experience but wish service was better.
Great food, great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff.
Loved everything about this place. Food was different and delicious. Our server Tiffany was lovely and we took all of her suggestions for dishes the four of us could share. We'll be back.
Beautiful ambience amazing service great food. Very convenient location.
Very good service, nicely detailed restaurant with an upbeat vibe. Busy with working professionals for the most part. Inventive flavors, very tasty fusions!
We skipped the sushi and stuck to the Peruvian/Japanese fusion appetizers, which were great. Very interesting combinations of tastes and textures, beautifully presented. The two of us split 5 appetizers, which was a good amount, though we did split a dessert as well. Of everything we had, the dessert (chocolate tres leches cake) was the most disappointing. We were in the back room (the restaurant is larger than it looks), which was pretty quiet. It wasn't full, so I suspect could get louder. Loved the no tipping aspect of the restaurant.
Love the food...the drinks are fabulous!!! Had a lot of fun!
The food was outstanding and Tiffany, our server, was amazing, informative and charging.
Wow! Fabulous creative food and lovely people. Go right now...😊✨
We had a lovely dinner last night at this Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant. A fascinating combination that we had never experienced. Server helped us order some of the Japanese and Peruvian specialties explaining very nicely what they were and how they were eaten. Quality of the food was excellent, decor was nice and the place was quiet enough, even though it was fairly crowded, to comfortably chat with my date. We ordered their prix fixe before theater menu, which I would recommend to anyone seeing a show. It's two blocks from Times Square, just enough to be close to all the theaters yet far enough to be clear of the Times Square madness. A real find.
Not worth the hype! It feels very midtown and a little corporate for my taste. The food was good, but it wasn't mind-blowing; I was hoping for a more interesting fushion experience.
This is one of my favorite sushi places. I love the sushi sets for lunch. Great soup choices, and the salad and tofu that comes with the sushi are wonderful (I love the cream of mushroom soup). The edamame is so tasty and unique. If you are gluten-free, they can accommodate!
The food here was excellent.
Good food and service.
The service was impeccable.
The food was amazing.
Great price-quality ratio.
Really enjoyed the food & drinks
Very good friendly service
I am disappointed with the service perhaps the” no tipping” policy gave the staff little incentive to know what they are doing. Our waiter did not know anything about the food on the menu. The person that cleared our table was so rough and unpleasant. When I told the person at the entrance who identified our reservation while apologetic, she did not even attempt to make it bette.
Had a great business meal and highly recommend it for a unique spin on fusing 2 cuisines. Everyone will find something they like.
The minute I walked in to Sen Sakana, the top notch service began. We were expediently led to a table and the magic started. Monday's are 25% off Sake night, we sprung for the Nigori(unfiltered chilled sake). Our waiter, Teddy, politely lead us through the menu and we began picking various tiraditos and sashimi, the fish quality is top notch and everything tasted great. The yellow tail himachi crunch might be the best roll we've ever had. Finished with a tasty dessert and Japanese whiskey, there's a plethora of choices, and called it a night. Will definitely be back and have not stopped recommending it since my first visit.
Great experience, went for my girlfriends birthday dinner!
Great food. Loved the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian. We ordered a bunch of different. The cheese wrapped in pork belly was amazing.
Great for birthdays!
We had amazing food!
The best sushi we ever had.
Japanese and Peruvian mixed together give a wonderful result.
The food was delicious. Service was impeccable. Drinks were great also.
Food was amazing. We had two of the rolls the waiter recommended as well as the nigiri and sashimi omasake. They were all outstanding.
Very good dishes and very nice (lounge) place
Exceptional in every way
Beautiful restaurant and absolutely delicious food .
Delicious food and drinks, but the standout was the service. Tiffany was our waitress and I cannot say enough. This was hands down some of the best service I’ve experienced.
A nice change from the usual Japanese restaurant - lots of interesting dishes. The sushi is excellent, but the roasted vegetables were a wonderful surprise. The space has high ceilings and nicely spaced tables so the noise level was well below the usual midtown restaurant. Great pre-theatre location. Service was also excellent.
We had a fantastic meal at Sen Sakana. Did not know what to expect from Peruvian/Japanese cuisine. We were blown away by the flavors. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back soon.
Great place, amazing cuisine, good drinks, very friendly and polite server.
Great food! Normally good device but this time (with our favorite server) they forgot 3 items which finally arrived after a while, and took forever to get us water refills. We had to go so missed dessert. We’ll come back again as hopefully this was a fluke!
Both food and Peruvian beer were pretty good. I particularly liked the cucumber. Quinoa fried rice was unexpectedly good. The dessert, rain drop was good too.
Great food. Great service. Wish all meals were this good!
The food was very different with an unusual combination of Asian and Latin American flavors. Endeme with roasted corn is typical of all the dishes with endeme being the Asian component and corn the latin. The shrimp in shredded potato was great. The sushi was very interesting and a far cry from a Philadelphia roll. The portions were well sized to share. Great for a date The room was beautiful. The service was excellent. The prices were fair one could have lots of little plates for not much money or a few big plates for more. I look forward to going back to try other things on the menu.
We were looking for a pre-theater dinner. Sen Sakana would take an early rezzie and promised to get us out on time. We had the tasting menu. It was fine, nothing special.
The food here is outstanding. It is a tipless restaurant, and the service is just not great. As an expensive restaurant, you definitely want great service to go with that giant bill.
