Sen Sakana is Peruvian-Japanese place in Midtown that might be good for a business lunch, although you don't really have to spend your money here.
The food (sushi and sashimi) was surprisingly good
Exceptional in every way. Food was unique and fun. Service was attentive. Would go back in a heart beat
Came for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and they gave him a handwritten card, as well as writing "Happy Birthday [Boyfriend's Name]" in chocolate on the dessert plate. It was very thoughtful and reflective of the rest of the lovely service. Speaking of lovely -- the FOOD. YUM.
Wonderful service and amazing food! Can’t wait to come back with the family
Nothing special. Food mediocre and overpriced. One tiny empanada was 9 bucks.
Miso soup tasteless.
Very creative menu, with extensive offerings that would satisfy all diners. Excellent service!
Best birthday lunch with my boyfriend! Great customer service as well x
The Peruvian and Japanese flavors are masterly combined for a great culinary experience. Well done!
Peruvian Japanese popular spot in midtown, with a greater emphasis on Japanese fare at lunch. Dinner has some intersections of two cuisines that are interesting. Ceviche, seafood and custom rolls to be recommended. Soba seafood combo at lunch was disappointing, gummy noodles and lukewarm.
It was definitely overpriced and the food was not overly spectacular. In fact, the sushi had this white milky dressing on top that was too runny and looked like milk. The food is far from authentic. There was jello on the menu for $14. Just because it’s shaped like a ball doesn’t mean there’s value there. Crazy!
The food was amazing. Service was great. I enjoyed it.
Loved the combination of the Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. Great spice and something different. Our waitress was excellent, took great care of us. Interestingly a non-tipping restaurant. Try it for something new!
Loved it other than I really was hoping to get a candle with at least a scoop of ice cream for my 25th birthday dinner but they just gave me a nice card. It was a really nice gesture but honestly I really preferred the candle.
It is pretty good. All foods are fresh and delicious.
Always enjoy visiting this restaurant. Cold cucumber slices with konbu and shishito with bonito - these two dishes are all-time great appetizers. This time I tried Yakisoba de Mariscos for lunch, expecting more like Japanese Yakisoba with sauce. It was different. Refreshing finish with Chicha Morada jelly.
Divine as always!!!!
Tasty cocktails and delicious food. The service was good, attentive but not overly so, and in enough time to meet our theater engagement. Would recommend.
Service was not great and kind of odd- different wai
Always great food and service! The waitstaff is knowledgeable with the menu as well as wines and cocktails. Great to have lunch and dinner at with friends, family or business associates. Will be back again.
Will go again as soon as possible & will tell all my friends, family & colleagues to experience this restaurant!
Whole family loved it. Best edamame ever. Try yucca fries, grilled avocado, beef skewers, and chicken bowl with green rice. All excellent.
Great food and great service.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and service. Hand rolls the best option
Spectacular as always.
Simply outstanding food! I tried several food combinations I had never tried before and I loved them.
Highly recommend it.
a unique cuisine beautifully prepared, as good as Peru
Food was unique and delicious. It has some familiar dishes on the menu, but a lot of the combinations I've never experienced before. Somehow it just works, and very well. Keeping this one on the list to try again.
All in all the food was very interesting but the service was uncoordinated and frenetic. We focused on foods that had fresh fish (sushi, sashimi, and chefs dishes) and found that while the flavors were interesting - the portions of fish were actually incredibly small. So compared to usual sushi prices, these items were very overpriced.
Always wonderful and creative Peruvian-Japanese fusion. Service and attention is always impeccable.
Fantastic food - truly delicious flavors, with the mix of Japanese and Peruvian elements mixed together for a fabulous combination. Service was spectacular. Will certainly return!
The cocktail menu has an incredibly thorough selection and the drinks were made to perfection. The addictive cucumber has a fun crunch and refreshing flavor. The salmon ceviche was a generous portion and was much better than the expected spoonful of raw fish on a cracker. Although the sirloin entree was slightly underwhelming/overcooked, the quinoa entree had me digging in for more. The food was very reasonably priced for the quality and ambiance, and if you managed to make it in for happy hour the drinks are a steal.
I love this restaurant. The food never fails to impress - in particular the salmon belly. I would eat here every week if I could.
It is beautiful place
Food was not Peruvian. I eat in Peru all the time & this was not Peruvian. My wife who is from Peru agrees & cooks much better.
The food is subpar, waiters are not that friendly ....
I booked a business dinner pre Thestet ( in5 min walking distance to broadway )
We got a quiet table with enough private space around us. Food was exquisite, very attentive but not intrusive service, outstanding cuisine. Loved every minute of it.
I enjoyed this restaurant -- Peruvian/Japanese fusion was not a cuisine with which I was familiar, but it was different, and they make it work. The prix fixe menu helped keep the otherwise very, very long list of choices from being overwhelming. Although they were already out of one of the prix fixe menu items I wanted to try (fish sliders) by 6:30 when we ordered, we found another entree that we liked and so it was fine. The prix fixe is a good amount of food (I certainly couldn't have eaten any more), and the options are very tasty. The location on 44th is great for pre-theater. For me it was a little on the loud side, but I suspect younger diners won't be bothered by that! Kudos to the very friendly wait staff. It was a pleasure dining here.
