   Honestly the food and the place were great, but the service ruined the whole experience. It was my boyfriends 35th birthday which I had called and told them about, but we were waiting for soooo long for everything and service was so terrible it really ruined the evening. We were looking around and realized we weren’t the only ones having this experience. I’m hoping this was a one night off thing for them, but the service and experience kind of ruined our evening and we weren’t even able to order a dessert for my boyfriends birthday. We just went to levain around the corner and got cookies which made me very upset after I had planned this evening here and paid for a good experience which we did not receive.

   Simply awesome on every level! Menu & cuisine is divine! Being a regular visitor, I truly appreciate a change in the menu, by season! Delicious!!!as always! Congrats to the Chef! The service team is always the best! Managers are on top of fabulous service! Thank you, Sempre Oggi!

   The food at Sempre Oggi is very good, using fresh ingredients and with thoughtful preparation; and . We had two different pastas—cappeletti with an English pea-and-ricotta filling (superb) and spaghetti with spring onions and garlic scape (interesting but not great). We also had the halibut with almond crust and almond-milk sauce served with grilled snap peas and roasted little potatoes; the fish was excellent, but the almond crust detracted a bit from the halibut's delicate flavor. For our side dish, we had the excellent grilled asparagus (2our server, Lexie, was outstanding plates for the 3 of us). I would go back just for the cappeletti and the grilled asparagus. One caveat: The hostess did not fulfill our request for a quiet table in a corner; when I pointed to a booth closer to the front of the restaurant that we'd prefer, she told us "Those are for larger parties." Well, we were a party of 3 at a table for 4, and the booths were also for parties of 4. Next time I expect to have the hostess be more accommodating to such a request. (And I told her so on our way out.)

   We took my mother here for a Saturday after Brunch, 1st time at the Restaurant, and they did not disappoint. The restaurant was empty (beautiful day in NYC) but the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding. And while my family are not food snobs, we do know good food and we all raved about what was put on the table. From the not overly fried Calamari, to their classic Ceasar (which my brother thought was the best he's eaten in sometime) and the pasta dishes were perfect, not overly sauced, al dente, my sister-n-law said it reminded of her many times in Italy. We will be back!
