Chef and owners Aniello Bortone and Reth have worked in unison for the past 10 years across a number of Sydney’s most popular restaurants.

Hailing from the humble town of Aversa next to Napoli, Nello grew up watching his family make traditional Neapolitan dishes, this is where his love of food began.

Working alongside Reth, also a chef and the front face of Semola, his enthusiasm for impeccable customer service and quality ingredients shines through. The dynamic duo are an authentic representation of what it means to eat and breathe true Italian food.

For those who are not enjoying Euro summer, we are bringing it to you! Get ready for a hands-on journey into the world of traditional Italian pasta making, with a twist! Learn step by step how to create a selection of our exquisite handcrafted pasta shapes under the guidance of Chef Nello, while indulging in an endless bottomless flow of refreshing Aperol or Limoncello spritz and grooving to tunes all afternoon! Elevate your pasta making skills and immerse yourself in a truly memorable experience at Semola’s Bottomless Pasta Making Classes. Price: $180pp + Booking Fee Cost Includes: 1.5 hour lesson Take-home recipe & pasta Bottomless Aperol & Limoncello spritz for the duration of the lesson Family-style shared lunch Time: 12pm – 3pm IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please allow up to 3 hours for our bottomless pasta class experience. Lovely experience and evening. Food wash fresh and tasty. Great portion sizes. The lamb was super tender, just fell off the bone.

On the Saturday lunch hour, there was a cooking class taking place in the restaurant. Which meant we had to sit at the street-side tables. So whenever a bus passed by, we had to breathe in the exhaust fumes. We would have preferred to sit inside towards the back so as not to disturb the class. Having said that, the food was delicious and the service was great. We'll be going back. I'd recommend Semola to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine.

Excellent Italian food…delicious home cooked ragu. Burrata was fab quality and very good value with Thursday night fixed price menu of 2 courses for 49 dollars. We’ll definitely be back!

Honestly one of the worst meals I've had in the last 5 years. My friends and I had a few bites of our meal and then couldn't have more as it was truly inedible. My friend had the marinara spaghetti and said it was the worst she's ever had. I had the truffle parpadelle and it was truly disgusting. The mushrooms were sour and had some sort of weird powder on top. Just awful. The mixed olives were also awful and tasted like detergent.

Great food and service. Every dish a hit including their pasta special of the week. Zucchini flowers and tiramisu are also stand outs.

One of the best Italian restaurants we've been to in Sydney. There are a number of gluten-free options available and the wagu beef pasta is very good. My friend highly recommends the focaccia as well. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday night and the staff were quite helpful.
