Ok dinner. Nothing extraordinary.
The place has great ambiance as we sat outside by the fish pond. The inside was unbearable due to the A/C blasting on max. The service was excellent and we were accommodated as needed. The food has reduced in quality while the price increases. Our orders sounded excellent on the menu but were not as expected. The shrimp manale had only five or six shrimp on a $20 plate of pasta. The chicken was overcooked in the chicken parmigiana and the spinach lasagna was just one mess of cheese. The brie appetizer was good but not the crab rolls as they were too dry and overcooked. We love hanging out at Selena's but I think they are lowering their quality of food and increasing the price.
we made reservation on line via open table....I modified it for 15 minutes later. the hostess told us she could only seat us outside (even though I counted 3 open 4 tops)... and then told me that it was b/c I had made reservation less than an hour before. I had made the reservation earlier, but modified it. AS a result, we had to sit outside in over 95 degree heat with my elderly parents. Our waitress was so inattentive.... she didn't offer refills, nor bring my father more sauce upon request. We waited 20 minutes for her to come back to us to settle up our tab... and I had to ask another waiter to find her.... to which she finally reappeared from the parking lot!!!
Every thing was great but a little noisy but we still enjoyed our brunch. Mediterranean omelet was delicious.
Very good meal after a slow start. Seated immediately but took awhile for a server to come to our table. Excellent Spinach & Artichoke Dip, but would have preferred nachos over the toast. Entrees were very good! Plenty of meat in the Jambalaya! Excellent Molten Lava Cake!
Too loud for my 88 and 91-year-old parents. Gravel parking lot not ideal for their footing either.
Excellent meal, excellent service, a really great experience
Jim’s story telling made our day. Thank you for sharing.
Loved the patio dining! The food was wonderful and our server was very attentive. I have lived here over 30 years and just discovered you through Open table. Will definitely be back! And with such a small parking lot the parking attendants were a great idea and very helpful.
The environment and staff were amazing I look forward to booking my next reservation
Open Table dinners, don’t fall for the pictures or ratings (4.5?????) of this disappointing place. It’s basically an old dumpy bar with bad bar food and a pieced together outdoor dining area with a deteriorated little waterfall/pond, next to a busy street and railroad tracks. (Waterfall/pond with random field stones all over and the plastic retainer just exposed everywhere)
Everything else could be forgiven if it wasn’t for the food!
Lunch included flavorless powdered lemonade, a hot spinach and bacon salad drenched in bacon fat with uncleaned mushrooms. Then we had a chicken salad sandwich that should be labeled egg salad with a bit of chicken and some of the worst fish and chips ever. Soggy non-crunchy fish with a terrible soggy batter that was pure mush, coupled with limp non crunchy fries.
The prices were cheap but the food was cheaper. Maybe they had a bad day or a bad cook today but it was easily the least appetizing lunch we have ever had in Louisville, we have had some great ones, and I guess I should have been tipped off when I saw so few other diners were there.
So many better places to go so don’t be deceived like we were.
Never had a disappointing meal or experience at Selena's it's always top notch.
Good food good service. Get there early for dinner and enjoy quieter ambience. Happy hour/after work crowd arrives and the place lights up for both food and drink. We were shouting to hear each other at table of four ....time to go as dinner was over! Enjoyed our time there and plan to go back for special friends get together.
Great restaurant with excellent food and beautiful decor. Moderately priced. Our server was excellent. My only recommendation is a better greeting and no one said anything as we left the restaurant.
First visit but can assure you we will be back!
Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Large portions. Server was knowledgeable and very sweet. Also a very nice patio to take the pup!
Amazing weekend brunch. Outdoor dining in a beautiful atmosphere.
This was the best dining experience I think I've ever had! My girlfriend and I had the Blackened Red Fish with rice, and a salad each. This food was incredible! The price is very reasonable for what you get! I can't wait to go again!
Waiter wasn’t that good or friendly. Food was just okay. We won’t be back.
Lunch with a friend could not have been nicer. Great service and the special of the day (Fried Green Tomato BLT) was outstanding!
Zack waited on us and was great. The food was delicious. The restaurant is a little dark but otherwise comfortable.
I love the food, and would return with friends.
I would recommend when making reservations to be very clear where you would like to sit. The table by the back door is a high traffic area to the outdoor porch. Not relaxing on a Sunday morning.
When leaving I noticed open tables with better views and wonder why the hostess placed us where she did?
Slow start finding waitress, but she did a nice job. Food was good average. Nice area outside for drinks and dining on nicer days
I love the ambiance here. Service was great. Drinks and appetizers were wonderful. I just picked a very hot night to take my son out for dinner for his birthday. We sat outside, which was a mistake in my part
We sat outside and it was nice. Service was good with Zach and the food was fine. Since we came early, we were the only ones outside for a while. I asked Zach if there was any music that we could listen to and he said the system had been out of service for a few years; something about the wiring and it would cost too much to repair. That would certainly add to the ambiance. And of course there’s nothing you can do about the flies. I think next time, we’ll set inside. Thank you
Our server was fine but hostess who sat us was rude. Food was not to our satisfaction. My dish was salty and inedible. Five in our party. No one enjoyed their food. Parking is not customer friendly and dangerous. Will be our first and last visit.
The food was excellent. The service was fine at first, then later around coffee and dessert time, our server (Alicia) seemed to be tending to the outside customers and ignoring us. It also took her about 15 minutes to bring us the check after we asked for it. Otherwise, this was a great experience and we plan to come back more often.
Sat outside - LOVED the atmosphere. We both ordered the same salad with different meats added - loved how each one was unique! Thanks for a great lunch visit!
Love this place for Sunday brunch at an outdoor table on a beautiful day...!!!
Cheap mimosas and bloody Mary’s add some fun! Beignets are yummy, omelettes flavorful...
Very busy, but that is to be expected at Selena’s. The waitress mentioned that they were short-staffed, but she did a pretty good job even so. Food was not quite as good as usual-hash brown casserole was dry and lukewarm, Hollandaise sauce was very skimpy on Eggs Benedict dishes, eggs were poached a little hard. But we love Selena’s and we forgive these little issues for the overall greatness we usually encounter, and it was a mostly pleasant experience.
Always a solid choice for lunch! My family loves coming here on Sundays after brunch. Fantastic patio!
Love love their Beignets so good!!
Biscuits and gravy are really good too.!!!
Nice evening to sit outside & I got the spinach salad with salmon & warm bacon dressing which was delicious. My husband had chicken soup & House salad. We enjoyed everything!
We visited Selena’s two years ago, and when we decided to go back to the Louisville area, we knew we had to return to Selena’s at Willow Lake Tavern! ❤️
I always enjoy Brunch at Selena's. It's one of my favorite places to go.
It was a beautiful day to sit outside on the patio. A great setting to relax and enjoy good food with good friends.
I had the fish special with Parmesan Brussel sprouts & baked potato. The fish was flaky and flavorful. The brussel sprouts were some of the best I ever tasted (wish I had the recipe). My wife had the salmon with a salad ($3 uncharged) & baked potato. She said the salmon was cooked to perfection. Prices were a bit high, but the atmosphere, food & service made up for it.
Food, service, and ambience were all excellent. We choose indoor seating but had a wonderful view of the beautiful outdoor patio. One of the few restaurants quiet enough for my liking- very quiet.
Festive girl’s night out
Loved my experience here at Selenas. The food was great as usual and it was my wedding anniversary so the staff took care of us in a special way
We had great service and a nice time. Food was pretty good.
Excellent as always! We took a chance and sat outside even though rain was possible, but it was lovely!
