Sel was a really wonderful treat. I had the best cocktail I have had in Phoenix. It was a martini meets pina colada with fresh lime zest weaved into a light foam on top of a rum drink. Details like that were found in all of the food courses as well.
The server was very knowledgeable and accommodating to a food preference despite a special Restaurant week menu.
The atmosphere on the patio was charming- similar to The House Brasserie while the food was on par with Cafe Monarch.
We enjoyed the evening very much, the service was great the food was great, we just wish they had the regular menu and not only of the Arizona kitchen month menu.
But, that gives us a reason to go back and experience all the great things that they have on their menu. Thank you Sel
For a great birthday dinner!
it was a fantastic dinner and ambiance. One of our favorite restaurants in the valley.
Amazing food with incredible service. Chef Branden is such an inventive chef with interesting tastes, textures and ingredients from around the world. We enjoyed the Art Walk visiting galleries before sitting down to Sel’s own art work. Thank you!
The chef at SEL is very creative. our three favorite dishes were:
1. Peach Soup. THE best
Every detail has been honed and the service is FIVE Star
We visit AZ yearly and truly wish we lived closer so we could eat at Sel routinely.what a delightful find!
Our recent dinner during Restauant week presented an intriguing menu that clearly did not disappoint. Everything was fantastic.
Here is a chef who supremely knows his craft. The cream corn beignet was innovative and delicious. So was the chilled peach soup with homemade ricotta and puffed rice. And the third courses were incredible - I especially loved the crisp tofu in a heavenly curry sauce that had so many layered flavors I lost count.
Deserts were no exception. The strawberry short cake with marzipan and salted caramel had surprising blends of intense flavor. Our wait staff were foodies and you could see how they truly know the art of fine meals and love working at a 5-star restaurant!
Also a nice treat to learn that the chef was formerly at Cafe Monarch, which was once of favorite.
Can’t wait to return!
Great menu and value for restaurant week. Nice wine pairing and good deserts! Service was good.
Great tasting food. Accommodating to dietary restrictions. Great atmosphere.
Came here for Restaurant Week. I got the tasting menu with wine. The first course was a chilled white peach soup. The soup was good, but nothing exciting It was paired with an excellent chenin blanc, but I didn't think the pairing with the first course was that great.
The second course was a corn custard and chevre biegnet. The biegnet was excellent with the sweet corn dancing with the chevre. The chardonnay with this course was excellent that matched perfectly with this dish.
The third course had an option of steak, fish or tofu. I selected the steak. I normally don't order steak at a restaurant because I like to buy prime cuts of beef and grill them over a bed of charcoal. The steak was a little tough, but the peppercorn sauce was excellent. I was afraid the merlot served with this course may be overpowered by the sauce, but it was an excellent pairing.
For desert I selected the strawberry-marzipan shortcake. The mixture of fresh strawberries, marzipan and salted caramel with some vanilla gelato was delicious.
Desert isn't included in the Restaurant Week menu.
I came early (5:00 pm) to avoid the crowds, but it got filled up pretty fast. Most of the people were senior citizens.
I love their tasting menu. The menu changes with the season.
Sel is one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is always welcome and inviting. My favorite place to bring out of town friends to try Scottsdale. The attention to detail and tasting meal is fabulous!!!
Excellent. It was my first time there and everything was perfect. Good presentation, good flavor, service, noise level, attention to detail etc.
THE RESTAURANT WEEK MENU WAS FABULOUS. Really enjoyed our night.
Chef Brandon is on fire. Every experience is incredible. Eat bite makes you want to keep it in your mouth forever. The wine pairings introduce you to a new world of flavor. The ambiance is amazing. May is a fabulous hostess always remembering small details about your prior visits. Don't miss this world-class restaurant nestled in the 5th Avenue shop area.
The AZ Fall Restaurant Week menu of 4 courses (with 3 choices for entrees including NY strip, wild striped bass and a vegetarian offering) was superbly prepared and beautifully plated - layers of creative flavors and textures reminded us of Michelin star quality...Too bad AZ is not a member! In addition we shared a delicious tiramisu for dessert. The servers were delightfully friendly and knowledgeable. We will return again and again, for sure. Dining outside on a thankfully cooler than blazing hot night with excellent food and service was truly magical!!!
It was great service and fantastic food beautiful setting.
The NY Strip was delicious and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
We were really looking forward to trying the tasting menu based on some friends recommendations but found it a little heavier for an end of summer selection, and some of the preparations were not as requested. There were a few service items that weren’t exactly as we were hoping.
One of, if not, the finest dining experience in the Valley. Chef Levine always shows his creativity and the service offered matches his culinary talent. A must go dining experience!
Excellent dinner! We had the chef's tasting menu and it was delicious! The food came out quick too which was nice - sometimes the dishes in a tasting menu seem to take forever to arrive. My only slight issue was desert. Not that it was bad, it was very good, but my wife is obsessed with chocolate and it would have been nice to have a chocolate option on there. Five stars for Sel!
My friend and I did the tasting menu. The entire meal was delicious! I had their version of a Paloma cocktail as well and enjoyed it. Overall a great experience.
What a wonderful birthday dinner experience! Fine dining at its best! The prix fixe dinner and wine pairing were superb. Looking forward to our next visit!
Went here for our anniversary. Entire staff recognized that and did everything they could to make this a memorable evening. And the food was exceptional.
I'd say Sel was "good" not "great." I mean this relative to the space this restaurant competes in, not as an overall comparison to say a McDonald's or something similar. I got the tasting menu. Nothing particularly stood out among other restaurants at this price point, and if anything the steak and vegetables were over-salted. On the plus side, they have an absolutely beautiful and romantic bar. If you're looking for a quiet and romantic spot with pretty good food, this will work great. It's less expensive than say Cafe Monarch and doesn't have the noise of some of the other restaurants blaring dance music.... but the food also isn't as good.
Servers were friendly. Food was outstanding! Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.
What a beautiful dinner this was. We had the tasting menu. The amuse bouche was a one-spoon strawberry gazpacho -- nice, delicate, but we would have liked to taste a bit more strawberry flavor. The end was an unbelievably flavorful spring pea and ramp vichyssoise with tuna tartare -- exquisite. We could eat that all night! Then the crab and corn custard beignet was totally unexpected. Beautiful delicate crust and nicely cooked crab within. The asparagus herb salad had just the right amount of vinaigrette. We found the 14 hour pork belly nicely cooked. Would have preferred the skin to be more crispy, but it was drowned in the gochujiang glaze, which was very reminiscent of home-cooked Asian flavors. the accompanying prawn was unfortunately chewy and a bit overcooked. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked for my wife, but mine was a bit overdone -- perhaps due to the difference in thickness of the cuts. The oyster mushrooms were a perfect accompaniment, and the Bordelaise was excellent. Finally, great flavor with the strawberry shortcake -- the salted caramel was a nice touch to brighten the senses.
The service was attentive at first and very professional, but suffered as the tables filled up. We went on a weekday at 5 pm. So I'd encourage diners to do the same if you enjoy a quiet foodie delight, but come later if you like hearing other people's conversations and the crowd.
We don’t generally do tasting menus but this was well worth the price of $95/person.
Agree that Sel is definitely a hidden gem! All courses were delicious and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Yellowfin tuna tartare was amazing!
Crab beignet was delicious.
Probably the best pork belly that I have ever tasted! Filet was superb and very tasty.
Dessert was to die for...strawberry shortcake and vanilla bean gelato.
A great resto especially for a special occasion. Highly recommended!
Unique and fabulous food. I highly recommend the chef’s table and the wine pairing
Excellent restaurant, great for date night or other romantic occasion. Service was spot on and friendly. Will definitely go there again
Always amazing food. Always amazing and friendly service in a very pleasant and happy setting. You can never go wrong with a trip to Sel!
Food was delicious and full of flavor
Amazing !!! My husband and I have been looking for a place that has a different menu. We did the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. We look forward to another fabulous meal here soon.
We loved everything about that place! Definitely a great experience!
All around amazing and one of the best meals we've ever had! Every bite of food was so full of flavor that we didn't leave a crumb! I highly recommend the roasted beet and heirloom tomato salad and the mushroom agnolotti.
limited menu with each item given amazing attention and creativity. Best Halibut i've ever had. Enjoyed the a la carte choosing. Anar was terrific server. Try Sel!
Great restaurant for a special occasion.was fantastic that they offered a vegetarian tasting menu!
This restaurant sets the standard in the Phoenix area for elegant cuisine and attentive service. Great experience in fine dining.
This was our fourth time eating here and was definitely not as good as the prior times. Food was not amazing and service led a lot to be desired. Ordered and paid for an appetizer beet salad that I never got. Had to remind the waiter after he brought the dessert that I had ordered a cappuccino. Ended up being brought a latte. Based on this most recent experience would say this restaurant is no longer worth the high prices.
This is the 5th time my wife and I have eaten at Sel. Everything about the dining experience is top shelf. Chef is a wizard with the food. Everything is perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and utterly delicious. Consistently one of the best dining experiences in Phoenix area!
This restaurant never lets me down. The food, service, and wine pairings are all amazing. Whenever visitors want a first rate dining experience, we always bring them here. Love, love, love this place!
Don't understand the hype. The food was subpar and quite expensive. The staff was not very nice. Compared to other Scottsdale restaurants that cost the same this is the bottom of the list. The food was bland. Other restaurants are succulent on every bite.
