Food was mediocre at best. Very little sushi for the price. Our server was not present most of the time and forgot drinks and sent someone else who didn’t know what she was doing to get the payment for the other half of our tab, we weren’t even sure if she was a hostess or random stranger coming to just grab our money. Haven’t been there in years but will not be returning.
Food was appallingly slow coming out. Food itself was great.
Great every time! And better than the other Sekisuis for some reason.
We regularly dine at Sekisui Midtown with outstanding service and food. However, we were disappointed in the service and the quality of food this evening. Service was somewhat lackluster, staff were confused and the head chef and sous chef or not present this evening. This is a great restaurant and we will be back we chalk it up to being an off night.
Wonderful Valentine’s Day!!!
Underwhelming on the shushi
Bad part of town. Bad parking. And No fried rice. Mind boggling. The service was great.
The sushi was just a little sloppier than I’ve had there in the past.
Overall a great experience! The service was friendly, but a bit sloppy. Our table was wobbly and even when the waitress noticed she didn't offer to fix the table or move us. Of course we didn't ask her too as we just laughed about it, but she should have taken the initiative to offer. We are a laidback couple so it didn't bother us or ruin our experience at all; we had a very nice dinner! A heads-up to the restaurant to consider providing a bit more attentive service.
The Sushi was great, although we had to wait more than 50 minutes! The restaurant is very busy. Friedly service.
My friend and I had a lovely and relaxed evening here. Service was prompt, and the food was very tasty. We really enjoy the variety of sushi rolls offered here- there are so many different ones to try. We always enjoy dining at Sekisui.
I had specifically asked for my rolls to be held until after I had my two appetizers. Everything came at once with a lame explanation from the server. the rolls were room temp by the time eaten. Had the pyramid and the yellow tail with jalapeño appetizers. Both were quite good.
The server seemed distracted. I asked for a fork and she tried to deliver to the ladies next to me. When she realized it was for me, she almost put it thru the hair of the lady next to me when handing it over.
We had a 6:45 reservation and did not get seated until 7:20. The hostess was not helpful and did not do anything to help our long wait. It was very upsetting. We used to be frequent dinners but I don’t think we will be back for awhile.
The place was quiet. We sat at the sushi bar. First, I need to me til that we eat here several times a month and our beer we order is NEVER come. Always like warm. The bar was nasty to lean on. We had to clean it with our cloth napkin. When we wiped it the first time, it turned out white napkin brown. Also the wines bathroom needs improvement. The sink is nasty, the was look like they have been patched several times from where different things were mounted and the removed. Also the sink looked like it was about to fall of the wall
Friendly service. Wonderful Sushi! Great wine and Japanese beer.
Great Sushi! Friendly service. The seats in the booth should be renewed...
We are frequent flyers to Sekisui.
Great place, Awesome service & superb sushi & rolls.
Good variety and good service. Parking is not overly available
we have lots of birthday celebration here. We love it
Fresh sushi, crisp, lightly fried tempura, and attentive service.
early bird special a very good value. Had the chicken yakitori. Came with excellent Miso or clear soup and salad with ginger dressing. Everything tasty. Remind them not to overcook the chicken.
It really was a great place to eat in Memphis
Always good. Always good service. One of my top three favorite restaurants ever and all No. 1!!
I've visited this gem many times but Friday I was glad to bring some friends. Sushi, salad, and sake were great as always.
Service can be a little slow but they are very kind and the food is awesome
Friend’s birthday. First time experience.
Awesome food and service as usual.. this is my families go to spot for the best sushi in town. They have more than sushi of course. Even my 8 year old daughter loves to go. She loves to get the chicken teriyaki and rice!!
As always I enjoy goin to this place. Great food & even greater staff !!
Great staff and food, it’s always a fun place for any occasion!
Friendly service - very good Sushi ! Enjoyed to dine there with my wife. Will return soon.
The service wasn’t as good as normal. It took a long time to get our drinks and me and one other person didn’t get out food until 10 minutes after everyone else got theirs. No explanation as to why our food was late and no apology.
The food was superb. The service was very attentive and friendly. We will return.
We had a great time! The food was exceptional and so was the service. Huge menu with lots of variety. We will be back!
Easy to get in - didn’t need a reservation. Service was great and food was awesome.
Always my top choice for sushi in Memphis. Never disappoints. Great customer service!
Always the best!! Also, Alexa is hands down the bomb!! Miss Elizabeth too though!!
The sushi and appetizers we had were fabulous and the service was great, as always. Sekisui Midtown is always a good choice.
Although normally we would order sushi, we went to Sekisui Midtown seeking tempura, because we had a favorite Japanese restaurant we loved in Antwerp, Belgium, that served the most marvelous shrimp-and-vegetable tempura we've ever had. You can order tempura, like sushi, by the piece (two pieces), and we ordered shrimp, calamari, and sweet potato. It was not the tempura of our dreams, although it was very good -- except for the calamari, which was calamari steak that kept slipping out of its crust. The cold sake was excellent (many good selections, although why you would want hot sake in Memphis in July escapes me): Sho Chiku Bai, a reliable sake made in Berkeley, CA. Our wait person was extremely efficient (she memorized our order!) and attentive without being intrusive. The small area we were seated in (left of the entrance) was snug, but if there are loud talkers, it becomes uncomfortable.
Love this place!! We eat here all the time!!
Ate here over the 4th of July weekend, my buddy was coming in later and I had time to kill. It was only me at my table, but it took the waitress over 20 minutes to get my food order. The restaurant was somewhat busy, but not to a point where one should wait that long.
Food was amazing, when it came. Very creative rolls.
