Sekisui Restaurants feature award winning sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine. Chefs are encouraged to show off their creativity and listen to customer’s ideas, creating sushi rolls that can’t be found anywhere else, and purists will be delighted with the exhaustive lineup of nigiri sushi - perfectly sliced fish atop a mound of seasoned rice. The restaurant’s fresh fish is flown in several times a week from locations such as Hawaii, Louisiana, and Los Angeles. There’s something to please everyone. The extensive menu covers lots of familiar Japanese cuisine territory with teriyaki, tempura and udon noodles. As it is always full of familiar faces, Sekisui is a popular neighborhood hang-out.

From straightforward nigiri to complex sushi specialties, we enjoy every bite. We prefer simple sushi, and the fish quality at Sekisui East is among the best we've had. It's always fresh and delicious, and the menu is extensive enough to satisfy a wide variety of tastes. The low lights and quiet hum from the kitchen and sushi chefs creates a relaxed atmosphere. For a fun experience with a midsize group, ask to eat in the Japanese traditional floor seating section!

They wait until 10 minutes before my reservation that was scheduled 8 hours early to call and say they only have seating for 2 people when I had reservations for 4

The hostess had no idea how to check reservations we had made on-line. We were fortunate there was an open table.

Good food!

Sekisui East is by far the best sushi in Memphis, and we love the staff. It is an excellent restaurant.

The restaurant read my special request on Open Table and seated us accordingly. Our waitress went beyond what was expected to make our meal special.

A member of our party ordered a glass of the house cab with her meal. They brought the glass of wine to the table and she drank it. When they brought the bill, we noticed they had charged us double the price of the house cab she ordered. When we questioned it, they acknowledged that we did in fact order the house cab and they apologized for the error -- but then refused to adjust the price because they actually brought us a more expensive glass of wine.

So, we order something at a certain price, you bring us something different, don't tell us it's different, then charge us twice as much for it -- and then refuse to adjust the price because you brought us a more expensive item we didn't order? That's poor customer service. We love Sekisui, but this was a major turnoff.

Consistent delivery of Japanese staples such as teriyaki & tempura. Plenty of options at sushi bar (operated by a real Japanese chef) but not much that could be considered as value. Well located on Poplar as east Memphis & Germantown merge.

The website indicated a "happy hour." When we arrived we were notified that there is not a happy hour at this location. We also booked for the Japanese style dining. We were then informed that there will be a 18% gratuity for eating in this area for only three people!! That's ridiculous!! When booking online, website should specify these instructions clearly!! I will not visit this location again!
