Food is good, noise level really bad. If you like talking tp your friends, go elsewhere
Great food, great staff and just an overall great time! I will return often!
California rolls + Spicy Salmon + Fish n Chip Rolls + Miso Soup = 💯
I had edamames. cauliflower rice, shrimp tacos and sea salt ice. The edamames were ok. The rice was bland and the shrimp in the tacos weren't deveined. The best part of the meal was the sea salt ice.
Although I received excellent service; I won't go to this restaurant again.
The food wasn't up to par.
Birthday lunch. The food was very good and the server overheard that it was a birthday and brought a complimentary piece of cake with a candle (to go with the dessert already ordered). Very good experience.
Great food and drink, lovely restaurant and ambience. Most courteous staff with our server being incredibly sweet and attentive. She served me a 'surprise' birthday dessert!- she only knew it was my birthday because she asked for ID before serving us Sake.
Fabulous brunch, great service and atmosphere! Highly recommended.
food tasted good, service was gre
Great rolls, don’t get the sushi pieces.
Beautifully presented dishes, lovely service, excellent drinks. SEI provides an innovative menu using Japanese, Korean, SEAsian inspired cuisine. Go as mild or as spicy as you desire, choose from small plates to share-able platters. The Korean beef bulgogi tacos were especially memorable.
Overall very nice lunch/brunch with three sushi rolls split among two people. Only minor complaint is that the rolls were a bit pricey for fairly standard ingredients.
I'm a long time fan of SEI. I think it is a good place for a work lunch as you can actually hear each other talk. The service is great.
Great experience as always here! My server Maite P was also great, I let her know I had a theater event to catch and she made sure everything was speedy and this was so appreciated!
The fish and chips sushi was great! And the decor was so pretty and nice!
Loved the food and the service. But it was very loud and hard to hear!!
Great food! Good service. Loud in weekends but food makes up for it!
We love SEI! We always have an amazing experience. High quality sushi, great selection of sake and cocktails, and fantastic service. They also have happy hour everyday so highly recommend checking it out.
Crowded and noisy on a Saturday night before the theater. Not unexpected. The food was very good. We will return mid week.
I really like the atmosphere and the food is fantastic!
I would recommend as the food is outstanding, but it was so loud I couldn't hear the person sitting across from me, so would only recommend for certain situation.
SOme of the food was excellent but the sushi is overpriced. The crispy chicken bibimbap was very good and I would go back for that. Good service. Friendly and not obtrusive. Bill for two came to $180 including tip though and we were still hungry!
I've been here numerous times. The food is always good, and the service is great.
We love SEI and this was no exception. It was a busy night at the Cap One Center though and the restaurant was packed and noisier than usual. However, the service and food were still top notch. Great and innovative food!
I absolutely loved the interior and our server was excellent! Food was delicious.
I made this reservation due to SEI's proximity to the Capital One Arena because we were coming to town for Michael Buble's concert. I checked local restaurants, leaning toward Asian food, and found great menu choices and reviews for SEI. The staff were extremely friendly, food was superb and the whole experience helped make our evening in Washington one to remember.
Food was delicious. WE love Sei. Had to move tables though from next to the window as it was really cold and there was a draft or air blowing from the vents above. We got a better table though after a few minutes and dinner was delicious. Especially the Pear Sangria and our favorites the fish and chips sushi and sea bass sliders. yum!
My cousin was visiting from out of town and loves Sushi...we were coming from a museum and I googled and found the spot. The name looked familiar. I am so glad this came up in my google search. Didn't realize it was a sister resturant to Oya which is a spot I enjoyed a few times for dinner and happy hours. Both very nice spots with a sexy decor, but not too swanky where you feel un-hip. The food was very good. My cocktail was good. The hostess was a sweetheart and we had a lovely server. Friends joined us for dinner, so it was a great spot to show my cousin visiting from San Francisco where good sushi and seafood is everywhere! I will be back soon!
Unfortunately our first and last visit. It wasn’t a terrible experience but we did almost walk out to eat somewhere else because we had no one greet us for 15 min and finally when we did the guy just introduced himself and that he would take care of us and then took off for 20 min. We decided to not order any cocktails because just getting water took forever and ordered our food right away. When we got our food it looked like a meal for ants. We left super hungry still and ended up eating somewhere else cheaper and more attentive. We hoped it would have been a great place we could visit again but we won’t be.
I do recommend this location to my friend just because the food was not bad at all. It was like eating in a small restaurant in Japan. Attractive presentation, natural and healthy principal. Because I recommend this place to my friend, I am hoping that it was because the timing was bad and not enough waiter was not there to attend us. Two other couples who came in after us has been served by before us by the same waiter. Of course the food comes later. Their guests were continuously so loud and a few of the groups were conversing screaming, and restaurant manager did not do anything about it. And because the food was good, that is the only reason I recommend this place to my friend, I really hope it was only at the time we were there was like that.
Valentine’s date. Food was amazing. The setting was gorgeous. Our server was attentive
Overall, really good service and great food; however SEI is really expensive and not sure if it's really worth it. The sushi options were very non-traditional and didn't have a lot of your standard rolls that you would expect.
Food and service was great. No complaints. It was a bit noisy but it was also a Friday evening. Highly recommend.
I would love to love this place- I did like the food but the deafening noise precluded any conversation and we left early to escape the din. And we even went early to try to avoid this problem.
Maybe an option for lunch? or if you wear earplugs....
Food was delicious and service was great. Our waiter, Brian, was wonderful with our large party. We will definitely be back!
Spent 225$ on cheap quality food, their chefs chocolate dessert was a joke, definitely not worth the money.
Exceptional place to eat love the service and food
Our server was fantastic and the atmosphere was nice. I was disappointed with the prix fixe offerings for our Valentine's Day dinner. I was hoping to dine on sushi, but there were limited sushi options available with this special menu. I could have ordered more sushi, but it would have come at additional cost, which I declined since I was paying $200 for this meal already. We did get a giant heart-shaped cake that I didn't even really want. I would have preferred a better main course. Perhaps I'll go on a different night with the standard menu, or perhaps I'll just go somewhere else.
Had to wait 30 minutes for our table despite having made a reservation a week in advance, but everything was amazing. The food was incredible, service was great, too 3 sushi in DC metro area.
Food was good. Lots of vegetables with plenty of taste
I took an out of town guest and he gave the ultimate compliment- he plans to go back while he is here. We had 2 different sushi rolls, kale salad, sea bass, and scallops and enjoyed all. The salad was not as good as usual, but still good since i’m Not crazy about kale.
