Sedition Restaurant & Bar is one of the largest underground restaurants in Philly. We have exposed brick, arches, and cozy nooks that will make you feel right at home.

Our menu features the best of new and traditional American cuisine, and our bar has a wide selection of local drafts, bottles and classic cocktails with a modern twist. Happy Hour is Tuesday through Friday from 4-7pm; all drafts and wines are 1/2 off, a $5 bartender’s choice cocktail, plus a discounted bar snacks menu.

We now have live jazz Thursday nights with Hall of Mirrors, a local jazz duo specializing in gypsy jazz/latin jazz & standards, from 6pm-8:30pm! We also have live music from local artists on Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm-10pm, and Sundays from noon to 2pm!

A excellent after theatre dining location, very good sandwiches and salads, we did not sample entries but will next visit. 20% discount for Walnut ticket holders a huge plus! Quiet, we were able to discuss play with ease.

We had dined at Six Feet Under, the previous occupant of this space, and were hoping that the current tenant would meet or exceed our previous experiences. The grilled octopus appetizer was very good. Our grilled cheese sandwiches were oddly lacking in taste, and the French fries which accompanied one plate weren't crisp. The side salad which accompanied the other plate was quite good, and we liked the coffee. We went during Restaurant Week, and the menu was limited. We're hoping that when the regular menu is back in place, we'll have more options. This wasn't a bad meal--some parts were excellent--but it could have been better.

Overall it was decent and I’m interested to return and try the non-restaurant week menu, but a few things - 1. Completely empty on a Wednesday night at 7pm. I mean absolutely empty. 2. Loooove the brussel sprout appetizer 3. Flank steak was a bit chewy, French Dip came w onion soup as the jus so it was a bit hard to “dip” through the onions. Also didn’t seem to be traditional shaved roast beef but rather some sort of shredded meat. Was still tasty. 4. Creme brûlées were not set nor cold - makes me think they were not made correctly

Service was a bit slow, possibly under staffed that night. Didnt se waiter for 15 minutes after seating. Restaurant week menu gave good options. Portioning a bit small but food was good. Dessert course of creme brulee had great flavors but the custard didnt set and was liquid. Their "Heresy" is definitely a drink worth trying. Would certainly go back for drinks and while I would eat again, I probably wouldn't seek it out.

We had dinner at Sedition and it was fantastic! Our server was great, friendly and helpful. The four of us all enjoyed our dinners, which included short ribs, gnocchi, tuna and French onion soup - all were excellent. A hidden gem!

Came for Sunday brunch with a party of seven. We were the only ones there for much of the time. The food was excellent and we had a wonderful experience. The only negative was that they automatically charged a 20% gratuity for the large party - I understand the automatic gratuity, but most places charge 18%. I would have given more than 18% anyway, but the principle of the thing turned me off. Nonetheless, I will be back and I highly recommend it.

This hidden gem sits in a basement location on Walnut between 7th and 8th, tucked away amongst shovel and pipe sconces for lighting, two awesome bars, little nooks to meet and talk to friends, and two separate private dining rooms besides the main one. It is a huge place but feels intimate nonetheless. We came for brunch on Sunday and it was DEEE lish. I had a special omelette of the day that was fluffy and light, and my husband had the braised pork hash, both were sumptuous and filling. Our waitress, Sa was always attentive and responsive. I like this place; it is has a nice feel and is really cozy. With the cold winter in full speed ahead, this cozy underground place is a fun place to go to get out of the cold. Hoping to go back with a big group and sit in the U-shaped nook, which is perfect to socialize in with our own private tv's to watch the game! Cheers to the staff, keep up the good work!

The cheese plate special, the spinach salad and pork chop entree were very good. Very disappointed in the chicken parm special. Little mozzarella on the chicken and the chicken was burnt.

The food was mediocre, I ordered a grilled cheese w/ out bacon which came out with bacon. I also ordered the potato soup and received the French Onion and had to wait for my soup. We ordered the the cheese board, which was very slim. My date had the gnocchi, he said it was very cheesy for his taste. We each had 2 drinks and the bill came to $94! We agreed that it was not worth the price and will not return.

This was our third time at Sedition (The first time the restaurant was called "Six Feet Under") We came from the American Revolution Museum the first time, and before the Walnut Street Theater the last two times. They accomodated large parties brilliantly (party of 16 in a back room and a party of 7 this last time in a private room. The wait staff is exceptional, knowledgeable and attentive. Cocktails are unusual and great. The vegetarian offerings (which many of our party needed) are fantastic. We ended up this last time splitting appetizers and salads among the 7 of us, many of us had the squash soup special - exceptional. We even managed to split two desserts among the 7 of us. (Wait staff graciously brought over clean plates and spoons/forks). We highly recommend this restaurant.

Service was amazing and super accommodating! All the of the staff congratulated us individually on our special occasion, the manager/owner (I couldn’t tell) welcomed us to the restaurant and then came to us twice throughout the meal to check in and inform us that they’d like to give us a dessert on the house. Waiter was also super attentive and conversational. So kind and welcoming of them! Food was, without a doubt, outstanding! We ordered the baby back ribs and the burger, then the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. I was blown away and so full by the end of the meal. 100% would recommend. Please try out this Old City gem!

My first time there I was greeted and they made me feel at home, went over drinks and menu and when my date arrived Brittany our server was awesome! They also recommended a new drink on the menu the Dominator which I love. The appetizer and food was delicious.

Overall, the food was very well prepared and tasty. Interesting dishes. The biggest knock i have is the draft beer selection was not too inspiring and the wines by the glass had no description. Your choices were Cabernet, Chablis, etc. Didn’t mention what the producer was or even the region.

A decent location and well maintained but the sports bar atmosphere is lost. Dishes contained Ingredients that were not on the menu nor asked for (gnocchi had sausage in it and my wife had to pick it out). The desserts were decent but extremely overpriced for size and quality.

This is the most recent of several restaurants in this location. It is about a block from the Walnut Street Theater, and offers a discount if you are attending the show. The menu is limited but what we had was excellent. The baby back ribs were meaty, and my wife left no remains of the duck breast. There is a wide selection of beers on tap. We shared a bread pudding for dessert, but it was so large we couldn’t even finish. We will certainly return on our next visit to the Walnut.

We were a group of 5 having dinner prior to the Walnut Street Theater (BTW offers a discount for WST goers). The waitress was attentive and helpful. The menu was smallish but eclectic and interesting and enough choices that we had a hard time deciding what we wanted. Vegetarian options were terrific! Portions were huge (You might want to share some of the appetizers and salads) The ice cream selections were "insane" and delicious (popcorn, redwine stand out). The Peach dessert was amazing We had a "flight" of 3 ice cream scoops Would highly recommend it. We will be back
