In Italian, the word, Secondo means “the second part of a duet.” When we opened Panico’s Bistro, we knew we wanted to eventually add some harmony to our original melody and so, Secondo is the continuation of our long-standing tradition to serve classic Italian cuisine in concert with Mediterranean influences right here in Cape May County.
We’re a family-owned business and we want you to feel right at home at Secondo. But, now that you’re part of the family, there’s only one way to keep Nonna happy – Mangia! Mangia!
Outstanding food. One of the best in Cape May. Our server Sarah was great, my boys are picky and she was able to accommodate with no issues, love her and the Chef. We’ll be back for sure.
Our experience went from just okay to acceptable to awful over the 2+ hours that we were at Secondo. Our reservation was at 7:15 PM and we were seated at 7:30 PM (okay). Unfortunately there is no pleasant place to sit and wait for your table, just a few chairs lined up in the hallway between 2 dining rooms. The dining room was super loud and our waiter seemed inexperienced and a little flustered (acceptable). We were told there was "a problem in the kitchen" and our entrees arrived more than an hour after we ordered them at 9:05 PM (awful). We had to rush out after eating very quickly because my elderly parents were tired and my friend had to get to the airport. The worst part about the experience was that the manager did not come over to apologize and no one offered to discount our check. We won't be back and hope that others will avoid this spot until they get their act together.
Waited over 45 minutes and were then told the meal ordered was not available
Worst restaurant experience ever. Will never go back again.
I will give Secondo a second visit. Service was good. Specials were not all that special. Drinks were decent. Desert was good.
We sat relatively quickly however our waitress was not attentive at all. We waited over an hour for our food and our waitress did not come over once to apologize nor ask us if we would like anything else to drink. Our reservation was at 8:15 and by 9:45 we still did not have our food; which at that point we told the hostess that we just want our check. We were told that our waitress is bringing out the food as we speak but told us the order will be comped. Our food was packed up and we took it home which when we finally ate, the food was not good and we were even more disappointed. The scallops still had sand in them and the “eggplant pesto” had no pesto at all. What upset us the most was that the waitress never apologized once. We were very disappointed since the year before we had a great experience. Definitely will not being going back here.
We ate at Secondo when it first opened and it was a lot like Panicos. a year later Secondo stands on it own. Classy with a menu to match. We really enjoyed our time there and the food. The wines were excellent. We will be eating there again but back to Panicos again for New Years eve.
Great food and great service!
All in our party of six thought their meal was excellent. Service was good even during a busy time. Noise level was a bit high but it was still easy to hear all at the table.
This was our second time dining at Secondo, this first time we figured they were having an off night. Sadly, we were disappointed both times with our entrees. We ordered salmon and the whole red snapper, the fish was completely over cooked, therefore very dry and not much taste. More attention needs to be placed on the food that’s being put out, I’m sorry to say we don’t plan to give Secondos a third try.
The food was so delicious! Love the decor & service was great as well. We will return for another meal.
Amazing food. Great place.
Wow!!! Very impressive from the beautiful interior decor to the Fun Bar with great live music! The staff was awesome and make you feel good with warm smiles. Secondo has the biggest and coldest Martini's anywhere! The Menu is great with something for everyone and dinner specials that makes your mouth water. A 'Must Go' spot when in the Cape May area!
Awesome , been there a dozen times already since the opening. Never disappoints and the staff is extremely professional and warm/kind. Well Done in vetting new hires.
Food is always great at Secondo however the noise level is bothersome when you cannot carry on your own table conversation. Our waitress was polite but forgetful
Enjoyed their veal Parmesan offering. Service was outstanding.
Secondo was wonderful. The food was incredible. I had the special pineapple sangria, with the special watermelon feta salad, eggplant pesto parm. I finished with a cannoli. Everything was absolutely delicious. No complaints at all. My husband had the limoncello oysters and the linguini with clams and crab. He was thrilled with his meal as well. The linguini was overflowing with seafood. We will be back and suggested to others to go as well.
Menu change removed several items which we usually have ordered. Lots of salmon specials whereas minimal meat specials. Specifically the veal dishes. Hope the menu improves in the future.
Food was excellent and service was great.
We enjoyed our meal ! Would go back again! The lemon chicken and the pork special were very good! The dessert tray the best!
Food was cold and dry. We wanted to add to our reservation and were told no as the table beside us sat empty our entire meal.
This was our 5th visit to Secondo. Drinks at the bar and the service were superb. The bartenders were very attentive. We were seating right on the time of our reservation. Apps and dinner for all 6 of us was awesome. Our waiter, Ronnie, was a little to much with his superior attitude and sharing negative comments about his other tables. We will be back but ask for a different wait staff.
Food was fantastic, and service (Ronnie) was just enough. Never felt neglected, and didn’t fell “over-checked on”. Management came to check on us, which is very rare anymore, but greatly appreciated.
Good family restaurant with decent food at a reasonable price.
We had two more people than we should have last minute, but the host was accommodating. Bartenders were quick and friendly during the wait. Our waiter was really nice, and attentive. The food is always amazing. The pork chop was probably the best one I ever had, and my daughter loved the stuffed meatball.
9PM reservation on a Saturday evening for 4 was promptly seated by a window. Ambience was fine, noise level was moderate. Most tables were already served and were talking or having coffee, we were the later dining group. We sat unattended until 9:15 when our waiter apologized for the delay. Took a drink order for a coke, water and $80 Super Tuscan bottle. Returned at 9:30, apologized for delays again. Did a pop and pour, no presentation or label check, just a quick pour and took our entree order. Two pasta dishes, a branzino, and a lamb-chop order. No specials requests, straight from the menu as is. We then waited for 34 minutes, until 10:04 for a food runner to serve the meals. During the hour we sat there, there was no bread, no table visit to give us an update, until 10PM, or explanation of delays. Food was dumped at the table, and we overheard there was a problem at a table behind us that was more vocal about the delays that finally left. For a $250 total bill, for four people in Cape May, there are too many other good options available we regularly visit. I generally don't complain at restaurants, the service was underwhelming, the actual food was very good, the dining room was poorly managed. Pay attention to the front of house or you will not last through the summer.
Had the scallop and ravioli special. Excellent. Service was great.
The food was amazing and the servers were very accommodating with switching the carb side for a vegetable substitute.
Delicious food and great atmosphere loved the Fig infused vodka and pomegranate cocktails and the bread is outstanding!!! I had the chicken parm dish with the eggplant dish plenty of food and great flavors. Can’t wait to come back
We went on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was quite empty. There were 3 other tables that were occupied. We wanted to order a bottle of rose wine. The waiter came back and said the last bottle had been opened. We asked if we could get a glass instead. After checking he told us a women at the bar was drinking the bottle,so we passed on the wine. Then we asked to order an artichoke and were told they were all sold out. The special salad we ordered and the branzino were delicious.
After the main course we were asked if we wanted dessert. We asked for decafe cappuccino. We were told they were all out so we asked for decafe coffee. We were told they were all out of milk!
The waiter told us they get their deliveries on Wednesday . Really there is a convenience store less than 2 miles away. Someone couldn't run out for milk when there were only 3 full tables. We felt sorry for the waiter who would have gotten a bigger tip. As we left we asked to speak with the manager. He was very dismissive. He never apologized or offered us anything to encourage us to come back. Too bad because the ambiance and food were good!
Great service and the food is always perfect.
We sat in the patio outback, on the bay. The experience was perfect. The menu was full of variety and everything sounded delicious. Not only was the food amazing but the staff were incredible. The bartender was so nice to talk to and and made delicious drinks. The staff was- Very pleasant, conscientious, and routinely checking on us. We even had management come and ask us about our experience. They seem to care about the restaurant and the customers. My husband and I were very happy with our experience and Can’t wait to go back again.
Very happy that you added a glass of white Zinfandel to your wine list it was very good much appreciated look forward to coming back having more thanks
First time visiting Secondo. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts were all amazing! And from all the other entrees we saw coming out they looked delicious as well! Two bar options (inside/outside) was nice as well. Live music outside was really good. Service was spotty; only 3 of us and took over 1:45 mins for dinner which wasn't a major issue for us but a few tables around us were seated after, order similar courses and were out well in advance. Looking forward to going back again.
Our first time dining at Secondo, I have dined at their sister restaurant Panico’s. I enjoyed this one even more! Fabulous decor inside. The food was amazing! Saw some of our favorites from the Panico menu and also some new items. The feta dip appetizer was phenomenal! I had the lamb chops which were fantastic as well. The sangria for the night was a pineapple sangria which I thought was perfect for a summer night. Our server Lily was very informative attentive and friendly! We will be back again soon!
Always delicious phenomenal food. Greatest attentive wait staff. You will not be disappointed.
Food is excellent! Service can be slow but was great this visit!
Our second visit to Secondo on Saturday June 15th was not very good. The food was fair. The mozzarella and ricotta while cooked on the outside was still cold on the inside. The whole fish porgy had a crab sauce with olives that was terrible - still looking for the crab. The pizza was not good. The salmon was dry and overcooked. And to top it all off we sat close to the bathroom entrance and had to watch people pass by us all night and listen to the door slam. I nicely asked the hostess if we could move and she denied my request even thought ten minutes afterwards the restaurant started to clear and there were several empty table that remained empty the rest of the time we were there. Needles to say, we will NOT be returning to Secondo.
