Great experience, great food, great service. It was a little loud and very dark but otherwise it was a very pleasant dining experience. I would definitely return for more.
WOW! Totally worth building our whole "staycation" weekend around. The meal was superb, from start to finish (Get the OMG biscuts, really!!) And the bartender was a true artist. We told the server what we liked and to surprise us. She made up a drink for my husband and it was awesome. We had far too many of them, and since we had rented a room at a nearby hotel, we felt justified. We will do it again, for sure!
This place has been on my list for a while now. The outside patio is small but great for our girls night out. We had a variety of diets in our group from vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian. All were able to find delicious items which we all shared. Our hands down favorite was the WTF gluten free biscuits which the pastry chef made for us from scratch and personally delivered to our table. They was moist, flakey and fantastically delicious! Looking forward to returning soon!
My new favorite spot in Old Town. Can't wait to go back. The salad I had was amazing.
Overall I loved it
Great service slightly pricey but still well worth it
The ambiance is cozy and awesome for great conversation
The meat and cheese board was great
I had the dessert 🍮 of the night and it was ecstasy in my mouth
My martini wasn’t amazing but still drinkable 😉
My server was personable and efficient with a great personality and gorgeous eyes with a great smile 😊
But the only real issue was the lettuce wraps —very very fat cuts of meat so unless your my grandfather do NOT order the lettuce wraps 😜😜
We came for a cocktail and dinner on our usual date night. To our surprise, it was restaurant week. Although that meant a limited menu, the choices were fabulous. The flavor combinations and presentation were 5-star. The service was attentive, and the meal timed perfectly. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Thanks for being vegan friendly!
The menu did not match what was on the website nor what was explained on Check Please. My friends are vegetarians so they ordered appetizers, which were way too small. I felt bad for them. My friend mentioned to the waitress that they were vegetarians.
The octopus, meatballs, pork belly lettuce wraps and NY Strip were all top notch. Will definitely be back.
This restaurant was one of a kind - which was exactly what I was looking for. It seemed to be from a different era and felt like we were in a high class modern-day speak easy, only better. It was quiet enough to have private conversations at our table, yet the surroundings were vibrant. Going there for a "special night" was right on target.
Enjoyed dinner out on the balcony for restaurant week. The menu options for food had great variety and the quality was outstanding. Cocktails were mostly good although I seem to recall more options at prior visits. The music they play is a perfect fit for the restaurant and played at a comfortable volume. Can’t wait to return!
Loved this little find! We went for happy hour because the menu looked enticing to us but would have loved dinner as well. The ambiance, I believe, (dim lighting, chandeliers, etc.) is more catered toward dinner in the evening. But we sat outside for happy hour and it was still great! Just depends on what you’re looking for. Whoever said it had a speakeasy feel, nailed it. Limited seating, so I would recommend making a reservation. Our waitress was wonderful and we actually took all her recommendations. The pork/lettuce tacos and the tuna/sticky rice dish were both delicious! We expected the ricotta cheese and honey with bread to be more of a sweet dish (it was not) but it didn’t disappoint! Also delicious. Thanks for a great experience!
I took my boyfriend to second story for his birthday. We had the most amazing time! The owner, Tommy worked with us on having a vegan meal and gave us some special attention with our whiskey flight. The servers and hostess were super friendly and great. The whiskey flight was generous and delicious!
The special vegan meals were out of this world delicious. And the drinks, per usual, were nothing short of stellar. We love going to second story and would recommend it to anyone for a date, special event or just to try somewhere new!
Thanks Second Story, Tommy and staff!
Best drinks this side of the Mississippi:)
Server was rude
Food selection was limited and overpriced
Asked for salt and handed a communal salt box expected to use my fingers to use, no salt spoon
Server was condescending when asked for the fries we pry with the burger
We went in for a late bite to eat and had a very late night snack.
Went with another couple and we were immediately charmed by the interior and the wait staff. There's a huge drink/hard liquor menu with tastings. A very small menu of wines (but enough) and a small number of beers. DON'T be put off by the very small food menu! Everyone at our table loved their dishes. I had a salad and the Falafel plate. The Falafel was so excellent - after giving everyone at the table a taste - we all agreed it was the best ever! The owner came around to all the tables to chat and check on quality - nice touch.
We all want to go back and try the burger which has really special meats ground together.
Outstanding dinner, especially the scallops and risotto. Biscuits are sinfully good. Some very interesting combinations I look forward to trying in the future. The service is very good. I would go to this restaurant again without hesitation.
This is my favorite bar. Period. The cocktail program is fantastic. The food is delicious. The people are friendly and make me feel incredibly welcome.
My husband and I went for happy hour. The happy hour menu options looked so good we couldn't decide what to order so we ordered one of each. Each one was excellent. We chose to sit inside, the atmosphere was great and the staff was attentive. I enjoyed the 80's classics playing in the background. There were so many delicious options on the regular menu we did not get to try. We will be back and next time we will try the patio, it would make for some fun people watching in OTS.
Amazing Food, top notch service and great atmosphere.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Overall dining experience was remarkable from the Service , Cocktails and the Food! As a group we tried 5 “shared stuff” items and 4 pastas/signature dishes. Tried it all, wouldn’t change a thing to any dish.
Terrific atmosphere and fabulous service along w very tasteful delightful food. We will come back for sure.
Went with my two grandparents, both in their eighties. Had a wonderful time.
This is a bar that sells food. It’s not really a restaurant.
Great food, great wine, even better music! Loved it.
The food was very good and the WTF Biscuits lived up to their name. We were there, by accident, for their Tuesday special, $30 for pasta for two and a bottle of wine. The pasta was awesome and you can choose any Boyle from their list that is under $40. There were a few good choices and I opted for a very tasty Napa Cab Sauv. Alex was amazing. Pleasant, friendly, helpful and very attentive. It’s a fabulous deal. If you go remember to tip on the full value of the meal, not the final total.
Great service. Excellent cocktails
The WTF biscuits are amazing! The tuna on the sticky rice was great. Everything we ordered was delicious. Will definitely be back.
Great food. Great drink menu. Service average. Very loud
This restaurant likely requires a reservation or plan to wait on most weekends. We had hoped to go early before our dinner reservation for a drink at the bar, that was not happening . The bar was full, only 4 or 5 seats. We ended up going next door for a drink rather than wait by the fire pit out front. We sat on the narrow outside patio which was nice and cozy. Quiet area great for conversation. We had the chef's meat platter to share, it was quite nice and would order it again. My husband had the burger which was excellent and I had the pasta which was good too (not great but good). Our waitress was nice and fairly attentive. She could of been a little better as she did not tell us the fish special and a few other misses. Overall the experience was very good and I would return and recommend.
Great find in Old Scottsdale. Limited menu but great vibe and service.
Interesting cocktail menu, very tasty food, cool atmosphere. What’s not to like? We were there for happy hour which was quite the good deal. Will definitely be back.
The WTF biscuits are a must try
I have been to second story a number of times and always had a five star gourmet experience. I was unaware that the restaurant was under new ownership and completely changed the menu and offerings. The menu is an odd hodge-podge of items that seem to be a step above a chain restaurant. They no longer offer a prix fixed menu with higher quality fare. I had been talking up this restaurant to my mother, who is quite the foodie, and was extremely disappointed with the experience when we got to the restaurant. They need to change the name because it is so different. All of the past reviews do not belong to this restaurant.
Had an odd start as my husband for his wallet. They could not have been nicer! He was able to get hold of a acct number, and the meal went on to be delicious!
Arrived, got sat outside under a heater that smaller like it was leaking gas. They didn’t get their beer
My wife and I come here every time we are in Scottsdale and have always had great service. The bartenders are very friendly and have a great knowledge of bourbons.
The pork belly appetizer was incredibly flavorful. The beef filet special was perfectly prepared and very tender. Second Story never disappoints!
This is a small intimate restaurant on the second floor. They have a large selection of custom cocktails. We actually met the owner who came over and explained the menu to us. It’s a small menu but has something for everyone including vegetarians. We started with pork belly lettuce wraps and the meatball appetizer. The pork belly was fantastic. We shared the main meal which was their filet with fingerling potatoes and a mushroom medley. We were able to add scallops which were flown in from Maryland. They also have a couple of fresh homemade pasta dishes that we’re looking forward to try on our next visit. Would highly recommend.
