We alway love Second Bar and Kitchen! First of all, fantastic service! The staff is very well spoken, polite, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. We always get top notch recommendations. The manager is awesome and very professional. The food is always amazing and creative. We love that we can have a casual meal here as well as a nice romantic dinner. We had dinner the other night with friends and had a nice charcuterie board and a few other great appetizers. All our entrees were excellent. I think the pistachio crusted scallops were the best i've ever had and perfectly cooked. Definitely a treasure at the domain.
Service was poor, side of eggs came out after all entrees were finished. Items were forgotten.. service was kind but horribly slow. Food was unimpressive and very small portions. Our 11 yr old ordered the waffle entree and it was one waffle the size of her palm. She could have eaten 3 :) great ambiance but not worth another visit when there are so many amazing establishments just a stones throw away.
Great food, excellent server. We will be back!
Slow service, kitchen was off tempo and waiter could have been more assertive in correcting. DO NOT SIT BY THE WINDOWS. Late afternoon sun shines directly into your face, so best you sit toward the interior of the restaurant. Had to move table twice.
Having eaten at Congress and Second Kitchen downtown with good experiences, I was disappointed with my visit to the Domain location. Most of the food was excellent or at least very good with the exception of an appetizer that was too spicy to eat. (I can tolerate heat at the jalepeno level, but this was much hotter.)
Service was more of an issue. We had early evening reservations and were seated (in a less than half full restaurant) where the setting sun was blazing in my eyes. When I mentioned it to my waiter he agreed it was very bad, in fact so bad that they allow their bar tenders to wear sunglasses. Nothing was done to make my uncomfortable situation better.
Also, we ordered 2 wines from the wine list and neither were available. Worse, our waiter did not know and went off to get each and had to come back and tell us they didn't have it. I wasn't making up wines. I was selecting from the list they provided, so I did not appreciate having to play a guessing game. I must state that the manager stepped in at that point and bought our wine which I think was very appropriate. Still, it leaves a bad impression when the wine list is inaccurate and the wait staff is uninformed.
Went for brunch, and didn’t realize it was inside of the hotel. They didn’t take our orders for 30 minutes, and we had to ask for cutlery on two occasions.
This restaurant is in an open air lobby of a hotel. It felt very much like an airport restaurant. And it was literally empty while we at our dinner at 630pm on a Sunday. An employee got out a mop and mopped the floor entire floor including directly around us while we ate. It felt like I was eating at a McDonalds. The food was ok. But the atmosphere was very off-putting and the mopping around our feet while we ate made us feel very unwelcome. I would not recommend this location.
Amazing food, quality, service located in the Archer Hotel in the Domain. Ask for Nathanial. He’s the best!
Great server, great brunch options and fun all around!
Our service was outstanding! The food was remarkable! An overall wonderful evening!
Food was fine. Service was very slow even being 1/2 full. Like 10-15 minutes to refill a water glass.
Second Bar has reconfigured their dining room. It is now open and airy with better views from every table. The food is innovative and delicious. We always order from snacks and small plates and share. Waitstaff is very attentive and brings out courses out in a timely manner. There is an interesting cocktail menu and good wines by the glass. Great place to chill out and relax.
First time at Second Bar and Kitchen. Not a fan of the gin and jam cocktail- basically straight gin. Paloma was good! We had truffle fries, charcuterie board, ceviche & kale salad. All were amazing! Will definitely go back.
Food was excellent. Service was fair and kept this from being five star overall.
Great place to share plates in a nice, airy atmosphere. And the cocktails were pretty good, too.
Very pleasant brunch. Good food. Quiet and comfortable ambiance. Would eat there again and recommend to friends.
We went for brunch, the menu was limited and everything included eggs, so if you don't like eggs you have no options.
The service was really good. The food was ok but it was a bit expensive for what we got in return. I don't think we will come back
We got seated next to a limestone pillar that ended up leaving marks all over my date's suit jacket. The service was alright and the portions were on the smaller side. The food did taste great and their drinks menu has plenty of fun options.
Stingy portion sizes, a bit too salty, dinners served in bowls - prefer plates for straight up fish. Ambiance nice, quiet but not busy. Waiter brought a complimentary dessert after we mentioned both of our fish were too salty.
Slow night but good experience. Small plates & cocktails. Server friendly & knowledgeable.
Food tasted great and the service was great, but what you got for the money was not worth it. Just left feeling like we all got ripped off. Won’t be back. You can similar quality for a lot less.
very flavorless foid redfish and avocado dip were extremely bland
Early Father’s Day dinner before going to concert. Pretty hot because of the large windows. Sweated while waiting for food. The food received a mixed review from our table. The pommes frites appetizer was really good but the tortilla soup was likened to a bowl of enchilada sauce. My entree pizza was really good with sausage and pepperoni. However the others at my table were over halfway through with their entrees before my pizza arrived. The waiter did apologize and brought me complimentary dessert bites. The salmon was very good but my husband was pretty disappointed in the short ribs, very average. The carmelized onions were not very flavorful. He says “ I would not order again”. The key lime dessert was very different and very good. Took quite a while to get check. We would not consider this a restaurant that I would go back to. More negatives than positives .
A bit loud and is an open area of the hotel so not as intimate. More of a fun vibe than relax dining. But had the Best redfish I ever had!! Great flavor.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and really enjoyed it! We got 2 appetizers, a cocktail each, and an entree each and left under $100. Great date spot that's still reasonably priced. We'll be back!
Overall it was a solid night out. The only complaint would be that my fathers pasta dish was under cooked and pretty dang chewy.
Great lunch, beautiful room, unobtrusive staff - right amounts of elegance & down to earth comfort.
I was not impressed at all with the food. Beer selection was shabby where we have so much craft beer available. Our server was very informative. Beautiful place but won’t return.
i like the food here. It is good and consistent plus parking is free which is an added plus!
Excellent scallops entree, great salads, decent wine list, fun atmosphere. It's very noisy due to high ceilings and hard floors. Cocktails are weak and disappointing. Service is pretty good usually. Sitting outside is really nice. Also fun for happy hour or lunch and special occasions (but not intimate). Kids are welcome and you see babies, toddlers and older kids as well.
We chose this spot for its menu and it did not disappoint at all. All we ate were the small plates and appetizers to get the full flavor of the chef, and drowned them in the hand crafted drinks. The huge view of the Domain's restaurant/bar district provided much entertainment.
The food was delicious and our waiter was attentive without being over bearing. The cocktails were great too.
Nice family meal!
First time eating here. Great food and drink options. Will definitely return!
The bartenders were very pleasant to speak with, and made a very good cocktail.
The food was quite good, I was not disappointed.
I'm actually impressed with the simplicity of the menu. The minimalism is a refreshing touch.
Excellent meal. Great service. Wonderful food.
Went for brunch and was not disappointed. The scone was a great start, followed by the breakfast crossinant and French toast.
Easter Sunday brunch set menu. Should have checked into menu options. Very strange collection of tiny plates as sides, appetizers and desserts with a lamb chop and tiny buttermilk waffles with no butter as main. Confusing menu. More like a tapas bar idea than a holiday brunch. Huge mini pastry selection which was wasted because there were just too many side dishes being delivered. Four of the 7 tiny sides, which could be refilled, were unusual salads. While tasty my husband doesn’t eat beets, kale, fennel, or grapefruit salads. Deviled eggs were salmon based, and not good. I wish I had called about menu but assumed for Easter there might be ham or omelets. $100 tab made it even more disappointing plus the &8 to park at the Archer. Now I will never get him to go back for the delicious burger and fries!
I guess I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to Easter Brunch. Like the ratings I gave, I thought the service was exceptionally good and timely. Absolutely no issue there. I was expecting a little more Easter-related decor. And though the food was good and fairly adventurous, it just simply wasn't my thing. Which is why I wouldn't recommend or go back. It was fun to do once, I'd maybe go back for a regular meal. I'm also pregnant so my taste buds are not the same at all right now which might have tainted my enjoyment just a little. So take my review with a grain of salt. For Easter brunch next year, I'm hoping to go somewhere with a more traditional buffet spread.
