Set in a classic Creole cottage built in 1832, Seaworthy was opened by Ace Hotel with support from the team at Grand Banks. Please note that we only have stair access to our second and third floor.
Seaworthy culls inspiration from Gulf Coast waterways, the time-worn traditions of Southern hospitality and the legendary exuberance of the city of New Orleans.
Very interesting and cool vibe. I used a $60 OpenTable Mastercard voucher to explore this hidden gem. I'm not a fan of the crab claws but we enjoyed the pork belly. We had reservations for outside (which looks amazing) but it was a lil hot so we ate by the window inside next to the bar. Our server could have smiled but she was pleasant.
HORRIBLE. A waitress named Norma told me to “calm down” when i was telling her which food was mine after she confused it multiple times. She told the manager i cursed at her which is absurd. We spoke to the manager and all he could say was that “they are really close, like a family”. The staff was throwing trash away right behind our table (extremely close) while we were eating which was unpleasant. I asked to talk to the manager again. Once he came over he accused us of harassing the waitress and wouldn’t apologize or own up to the mistakes they had made. Then the manager told us he was dropping the check and to call it a night. Once we got up he handed me the check and said “what are you doing, im dropping off the check, its basic terminology”.
Advertised patio service but had none. No bloody Mary’s because juice guy was out! I guess no one else is capable of doing that even though there were very few patrons and a full on bartender. This was Saturday brunch. Short staff should not mean short on service. Disappointing. Wondering if the dishwasher is out should I expect a lack of clean dishes?
Seaworthy is a quaint little restaurant with a great ambiance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. The cocktail list is awesome. We ordered the amberjack hush puppies, marinated blue crab claws, and fish of the day (redfish). All three were AMAZING! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to dine in NOLA!
We had three appetizers the blue crab claws were not terribly flavorful, the beet salad was incredible and my rock fish with red sauce was delicious. Pretty small portions but great flavor.
Took a minute to get bartenders attention, other than that everything was great.
One of my favorites in New Orleans. Great staff!
Sorry, food was sub-par and noise level was not conducive to conversation. Would not recommend.
Host BRYANT was super. Our server Josiah was very attentive. All bussers were very excellent!
We had a 6:30 reservation and were sat at a small table by the bar in a high traffic area. I moved my chair to not get bumped every time someone walked by. Fine. We don't mind as we usually opt to sit at the bar. Another couple sat next to us and were very uncomfortable with the table. It was too loud for them and they left. The waiter came for our order and I could not hear him. They did turn down the music. We asked for 2 orders of ceviche. The mahi-mahi was mushy from being marinated too long and the amount wouldn't fill a tablespoon. The yellow tail was paper thin and barely there. We ordered the special fish of the day and they had run out. I remarked to the waiter that it was only 6:30 and they were out? That didn't go well. Funny the music volume went up after that along with his attitude. The pinot noir wine selection was not impressive to say the least. So we paid up and left hungry. This place is very trendy and expensive.
Our dinner at Seaworthy was a joy. The service was wonderful throughout, everyone was friendly and our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is great, worth walking around to see all the cool decor. The main oyster/drink bar downstairs has a lot of seats, and a good place for a cocktail before the meal. With all the different rooms and nooks and crannies, it felt almost like our group of seven had our own private dining room, though there were other tables just around the corner. As you'd expect by the name, the menu is seafood heavy, but with a lot of different influences and variety in the preparation, with many dishes very sharable for a group. We shared the ceviche, hushpuppies, and beets and nothing lasted long. I had the clams for my entree and loved they. They are served like mussels in a large bowl with delicious broth with bread on the side, a way I had never had them before. For drinks I had the Punch and the 24 Karat and both were among the best cocktails I'd had. I will not miss Seaworthy next time I'm in the city, and recommend it highly, especially if you're looking for a menu that has local flare and ingredients but is a bit different.
Too expensive for the small amount of food provided.
Seaworthy used to be a place to go for a higher end dinner, and was one of our favorite spots. The last two times we have been there we realized that things have changed. The menu is more bar food type item (for example they replaced the steak with a hamburger). We ordered the hamburger and it was obvious it had been Pre-cooked - and was just warmed up - medium rare was ordered and it came more than well done with the middle being cold. Other items took forever to come out and were not well prepared. It’s a shame because we used to really like to come here. I’m hopeful they can get it together - but sad to say we will not be back.
Very accommodating. Great service and excellent food! Will recommend this place to everyone
Interesting menu, if a bit pricey for small portions. I have been there twice and the level of service was not as it should be on the second visit (during Mardi Gras season, which may explain?)
Stayed at the Ace hotel. Found myself happily going to Seaworthy on a regular basis.
Very quaint little restaurant. Food was fantastic! Small tables very near each other so it’s rather noisy which is the only reason for 4 stars.
the food was delicious, great oyster selection, the three different ceviche's offered were fresh and really tasty, the steamed clams with thick brooth was sooooo effin good, and the burger, wow, the burger was tasty as hell. BUT, the service SUCKED....the waitress and waiter had MAJOR attitude, NO personality, as did the hostess, HUGE attitude, fought with me where I wanted to be seated, meanwhile the place was half empty when I arrived and when I left. I would ONLY recommend if you're in the neighborhood and go for happy hour, otherwise, don't bother.
Amazing food. But it took two hours to eat. Drinks barely came and some were forgotten. Not the best experience after proposing to your girlfriend lol
The waiter was really nice but didn’t know much about the food and wine. The seafood tower at $72 was ok but only the raw things were really good. The rest of our meal didn’t arrive for more than 30 minutes. When we told him to forget it and just bring the bill he said the food was ready and brought it. The little gems was swimming in dressing and a side of bread consisted of one thin slice. The free bread was a basket of chip like bread that tasted burnt.
When we arrived for our reservation we were seated in backless chairs in the bar. Only when we asked to be moved did we get a proper table upstairs.
We had brunch on Saturday . The food was fantastic . Bbq shrimp plate a must .
The food was excellent and I would have highly recommended, but the service was horrendous and on Valentine's Day, that is completely unacceptable.
I had made our Valentine's Dinner reservations well in advance and we planned to arrive early for a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar. Upon arrival, we checked in with the host and headed to the bar. Shortly after our reservation time, I received a call from the restaurant asking if we were going to keep our reservation. I informed the young lady that we were, in fact, already at the bar. She asked if we would like to remain at the bar and I informed her that we did not wish to remain at the bar. She didn't inquire further and ended the call. After 10 or so minutes passed, I got up to check with the host, who said we would need to close out our tab at the bar before being seated (not sure why nobody ever told us we were ready to be seated, good thing I followed up). I went back to the bar, closed out the tab, and walked back to the host stand. We were then seated IN THE BAR. If I wanted to be seated in the bar, I wouldn't have bothered to make a reservation and would have just walked in and sat at the bar. I will not be making a reservation here again, but will return for food and drinks.
Menu was limited. Food service was slow. Burger was served way undercooked. Won’t be back.
Most delicious made in-house crackers
The service and food were great. Had a great time hanging out at the bar.
The service was great, food was delicious. The oysters were a bit pricey, but delicious as well.
Service was slow and had catch the waiter 3 times in order to get service. I waited over ten minutes to get my second beer and went to the bar instead. I think that there only 3 tables being served
Very cool, authentic restaurant! Food is delicious, but very small portions. Recommend trying a bunch of different entrees and sharing with the table. Everything we had was delicious!
Togarashi shrimp were some of the best shrimp I've ever had. Cory, our server, was incredible. Great restaurant - highly recommended.
Our apps were good, oysters tasty. Tiny martini but common in Nola. Entree scallops interesting; large but only 3...I would have expected at least 4 or 5 for the price. My companion’s swordfish was also small. Service sporadic. Sat waiting for awhile before we’re noticed. Didn’t come back to offer additional drinks or water till I flagged him down. I would like to return and try the PoBoy...our neighbors were enjoying it. I think you need to “know” what to order
We were really looking forward to our dinner at Seaworthy, but were sadly disappointed. The restaurant was quite chilly with cold air blowing from a vent. It took a LONG time first to order our drinks, and then longer for them to be delivered. I was hoping for some great seafood options, but thought the menu was pretty uninspiring - or an inspired option was quite expensive. We were hoping for more "to share" options so we could try a variety of things but in the end I went with a shrimp po-boy....that came with cold shrimp. We'd ordered a starter of oysters, but they hadn't appeared when the waitress brought our dinners, along with the news that it would be a while longer for the oysters since the shucker was backed up. I just wish she'd updated us earlier about that. We finished eating, and sat for a while, and were about to ask for our check and to forget the oysters when they arrived at the table....seriously?? The waitress joked they were for dessert but honestly it was a disappointing end to a disappointing meal.
The oysters were incredible! Everything was really great, but the shrimp roll was outstanding. GREAT food, GREAT drinks!
The drinks were extremely over priced. The waitress was rude. We are locals and will certainly not be going back!
Peche Seafood Grill is the seafood restaurant with the big tourist following in New Orleans. But ask "locals" where to go, and many - certainly this one! - will tell you go to Seaworthy instead! Great food, great service, a terrific "happy hour", nice selection of fresh raw oysters and good value are all in plentiful supply at Seaworthy. If you want to sit at the bar, or be in the midst of a lot of commotion, than ask to sit downstairs. But if you're looking for a spot more intimate, a bit quieter, ask to sit upstairs. I've been coming to this spot for years and am never disappointed. My only observation is that sometimes I wish they had just a few more things on the menu: a gumbo, a nice piece of simply broiled fish would be great staples. But be assured that whatever they do have will not disappoint. My last meal there was Seaworthy's take on the classic seafood bouillabaisse. It was off the charts - it was that good! Probably my favorite ever.
A hidden gem! Impressive oyster menu (fresh and delicious) along with small plates and entrees. Something for everyone. Cozy bar downstairs, cozy dining upstairs and a large patio out back. The Brussels sprouts were so good I wanted to lick the bowl-then our server told us exactly how to make them!
Oysters were amazing! Waitress was so kind! Hostess was not very welcoming. Tables could be a bit bigger.
Love the food and space but unless you have the wall side of a banquet, the stools with no back or arms are very uncomfortable. That's the only reason we don't go more often.
This is a seafood restaurant for seafood lovers. The menu is limited but the appetizers and food is good. We had the trio of ceviche, brussel sprouts, fish sandwich and swordfish among our table of four. The swordfish was the best of what we had. The ceviche needed some more flavor.
Food was delicious. Wine list and cocktails were great as well
Not enough variety in seafood choices. Swordfish is not from the area.
