Set in a classic Creole cottage built in 1832, Seaworthy was opened by Ace Hotel with support from the team at Grand Banks. Please note that we only have stair access to our second and third floor.
Seaworthy culls inspiration from Gulf Coast waterways, the time-worn traditions of Southern hospitality and the legendary exuberance of the city of New Orleans.

We selected this restaurant as we were looking forward to the cioppino as advertised on their website. The waiter told us it was no longer on the menu. Upon ordering 2 other items we wanted to order were not available, waiter did not inform us. The restaurant was very cold. The 12 mussels at 18 dollars as a large plate were plain in taste. The interior of the restaurant was nice.
It was a great “Friendsgiving”! Plus the cocktails, OMG!! Delicious! Loved all the food, will be back for sure!
Odd! They were out of at least 3 main courses and had only one red wine. I asked for bread with my oysters and it arrived 25 minutes afterwards. They did not charge me. The food was good when it arrived but my risotto was Luke warm. Our waitress was very helpful but the place was somewhat chaotic.
Gorgeous variety of seafood, oysters most especially!
Yummy cocktails too.
The reason to go to Seaworthy is for the ambiance in the downstairs bar. Each time I've gone recently they stick us upstairs in a freezing cold room of four tables that is way too quiet and lacks the energy of the downstairs. If you go, I recommend requesting downstairs seating. While their candle/mantle set up is sort of nice in the upstairs room, our table also walked away with our coats splattered in wax that had been dripping from the mantle to the floor while we were eating. The oysters were excellent, the rest of the food was nothing special. I usually don't write reviews of restaurants, but I used to love coming to Seaworthy and am now just a bit annoyed at their lack of attention to the things that make them a cool place to hang out at.
Food was underwhelming for the price. Our shrimp ceviche only had one shrimp cut in half for the entire plate.
It was all great. The only negative was the seating. We are both short and my husband has a bad back. We were put at a tall table with stools that have no backs. I noticed that even at lower tables, seating didn’t have backs. The meal was great and service was good but we were pretty uncomfortable.
The hostess was rude and dismissive. I thought it might have been just a bad moment, but she was horrible to my friends that met me as well. Told us we needed to be done by 545pm because the table was booked for someone else. Asked my name multiple times while looking for our reservation because she was talking to coworkers and looking at her phone. No smiles, no welcome, but plenty of hostility. She seemed annoyed with everyone and everything. Makes me question whether it is worth returning to this establishment.
Do you really want to know? We’ve been to Seaworthy in the past and had good food and service. This time? It’s like, “W. T. F?” Rude hostess, crappy Server, presentation of food was haphazardly arranged, they were out of crab, but instead of letting us know when we ordered the SEVENTY TWO DOLLAR meal, the Server brought an incomplete meal and took it upon himself to substitute another item. Yeah, umm, don’t make decisions on our behalf. We’d have ordered something else or maybe had a drink and left for another of the thousand restaurants in town that actually serve what’s supposed to be on the dish. Want a good meal? Skip Seaworthy, go to Jewel of the South instead. You can thank us later.
Oysters and wine were amazing, our waitress was the best. The rest of our food ….. meh.
Took quite awhile to receive our order. Gulf oysters were OK, have had better. The gulf fish was seared on the outside and raw and cold inside. We were offered to order something else but declined due to the long wait of our original order.
Molly was great and the oysters were wonderful and usual.
I have typed this four times now, fox your buttons. Despite having. a reservation for a week we were sat a tiny high top bar table, next to where they stacked used bar ware. When we asked about other options, the hostess was rude, said that was all they had despite a table with better seating sitting unoccupied most of the time we were there. Had to put our drinks on a windowsill to have room for dinner plates, especially since they didn’t clear menus or unused appetizer plates. Waiter couldn’t have cared less, we had to ask for refills on water, wine. Food was good but one entree arrived cold. It was early evening on a Saturday night, yet they were out of all but one dessert, waiter never asked if we wanted to order it, just brought us the check, Kudos for music level, enjoyable but easy to converse.
Good food, not fond of being seated outdoors in cold weather
Terrible service from waiter. We ordered oysters and they either would give us oysters different from the ones we ordered and told us those were the ones they were giving us at that time or they would not give us any oysters. I’ve been a couple of times but this is the second time i’ve been and received a terrible service from the same waiter
My wife and I were in New Orleans for our 25th anniversary and had been to Brennan's, Commander's Palace, Cafe Amelia, Mr Eds, Acme, then on our last day, out on a whim, and in search of happy hour
(4-6pm) oysters and cocktails, we ventured into Seaworthy. First, our waiter Ronald was most pleasant and attentive. The oysters were fresh and awesome, try the Murder Points (to die for, lol) from Alabama, I think they were the best, but the PEI and Washington varietals on their 1/2 price list were very tasty too. Roasted Brussel sprout, pumpkin risotto, and a creole octopus dish were all cooked to an amazing depth of flavor. The atmosphere was fantastic, quiet (@ 430pm on a Tuesday) and romantic.
Just perfect for us! We enjoyed some of the other restaurants for some of their excellent dishes and nice atmosphere, but Seaworthy was as good as and even better than those others. They are indeed worthy to be on your Nawlin's restaurant list.
Great service and atmosphere!
Grabbed b some food before the Saints game. Got a few oysters and a Shrimp Poboy. My buddy got a burger that we was pleased with. Would way rather eat some good food then something in the Dome.
I think the murder point oysters I had were appropriate since it was Halloween - my favorite oysters by far.
Sneak in and sit at the bar-
The food was ok, nothing remarkable but a good mix of Southern and international contemporary cousin.
The staff was nice but very inattentive. The oyster shuckers were on the phone playing video games with the sound on.
The playlist was a mix of pop songs that made me feel were made by a teenager, it threw the whole vibe off.
Finally it was freezing cold.
This restaurant was highly recommended to us by a friend in the hospitality business and we had better expectations.
The happy hour menu was not offered but the oysters were fresh and delicious and the hh cocktails were great.
Food is underwhelming and overpriced. Could have a better meal at any number of neighborhood places for half the price. Will not return or recommend
Server was pleasant and efficient.
My husband and I have loved Seaworthy for over 4 years. Unfortunately, they recently changed the menu, so all of the main dishes now contain a lobster broth. I’m allergic to shellfish. The oysters (which are bivalves and I can eat) are great but they don’t make a meal. Hopefully, they make more options available since shellfish allergy is a pretty common.
Worthy. Great small place with lots of oyster choices and delicious and creative seafood entrees. Friendly and attentive staff. We try to get here at least once every time we visit Nola.
Loved it - the oysters were amazing and the staff were lovely
The service here was the worst I’ve ever received in New Orleans. It took a long time to be greeted at our table. Our drinks were empty for the majority of the meal and our waiter forgot an appetizer and an entree. The lighting was so low that it was hard to read the menu. The food was fine but I do not think I will return to this restaurant.
We were the only patrons and cold fries. Staff was so noisy talking to each other with cleaning products on bar.☹️ Used to love this restaurant.
We really wanted to like this place but…
We sat outside on their back patio which looked lovely but it was closed in and had no fresh air circulating. There was a consistent smell of bleach coming from the kitchen area. The food was either too seasoned or had too little seasoning. The wait staff were friendly.

We were sat in the ally / patio which was very nice but had no music at all and was pretty dark. We all felt tired after dinner - if you are looking for a sleepy dinner then it’s perfect but we chose this restaurant for it’s aesthetic and perceived vibe and it didn’t hit the mark for us.

Happy hour is a must. Oysters are cold and shucked quickly. Mom’s crab dip was next level. Everything we ordered was excellent.
Good evening Lauren, Thank you for the Amazing review.
Food was delicious. Especially the rock shrimp risotto.
We had a lovely dinner at Seaworthy! Accommodating staff, tasty food, and lovely outdoor patio.
Good evening Sarah Thank you for the Great review.
Love this place so very much. We’ve been spoiled every time we go in. I would recommend reservations ahead of time cause they can fill up fast. Happy Hour is terrific deal.
The staff is beyond gracious, so patient & thoughtful.
Love you folks!
Thanks for the Glowing review.
Best meal we had during a week in New Orleans. Highly recommend the shrimp risotto & oysters. The service was also top-notch.
We love dining outside in the courtyard at Seaworthy! Relaxing and fun setting. We started with the Cobia and the Crab Dip which were both great. Gulf fish had delicious crispy skin. Scallops were excellent with sweet potato grits. Fun cocktails too!
Enjoyed dinner on the patio, and the holy water!
Food was good. Went there because wife wanted lobster roll. Was on take out menu but not available for dine in? Out of crab cakes, out of sourdough and some other items. Drink was okay. Waiter was nice and attentive.
Oyster selection is always amazing. Ambience and service are consistently top-notch.
Dinner was delicious! We had gumbo, oysters on half shell, ceviche, Brussels sprouts and crab cakes. Would recommend!
Located just a few doors down from our hotel, we stopped in for a late dinner. Amazing dinner service -we loved the oysters and redfish. Will definitely come back for the spicy mezcal cocktail on my next visit!
This is quickly becoming my NOLA favorite. Great raw oysters. Seafood gumbo may not have been the best ever but it was certainly very good & full of seafood & sausage, very satisfying. I had blackened scallops for my entree, & they were outstanding with just the right size portion. If you are a Bourbon fan, get the McKittrick Old Fashioned.
The place is comfortable & has a cool vibe & ambience. Although I was alone, it would be a great place for a date or even a double date. Service was excellent too. This was my second visit & certainly not my last.
