What Insiders Are Saying
Seastar in Bellevue is a fancy seafood place where you should be using a corporate card.
Great overall experience as always, Chief Howie, Mark and crew , the best..
When one sets out to dine at an establishment where the average entree is pushing $50 in Seattle, there are certain assumptions made about the experience. One expects quality food, exceptional service and to pay handsomely. In a word, the service was so below expectation for what is reasonable at this tranche of price, I had to force myself to leave a reasonable tip-
We waited to be seated (with a reservation, arriving exactly on time) for almost 10 minutes. Once seated, we asked that our wine be opened- and quite a while later we received glasses- wine still not opened. Then many more minutes elapsed and our wine glasses were swapped out. Then wine opened and poured. During the meal, the server came by the table one time and poured into one of our glasses... we laughed when he left because they were both near empty. We poured our own wine- why not?
The food was good- not amazing, not over the top. For the price and for the serious lack of service- there are so many other restaurants to patronize- such a shame. Service is key if you want to charge top prices.
The food was okay but the restaurant was very loud and too warm.
Very disappointed in the food. Ordered the grilled octopus which, if done correctly, is spectacular. This was not. Octopus should be soaked (best in cork water) to reduce toughness. It was like leather. I returned it and order the halibut ceviche. Good, but not outstanding. However, the crab bisque and service were outstanding!
The ambiance is definitely a working lunch vibe. My husband’s steak had to go back because it was way over cooked, the rest of the food was good, not great (oh, but the truffle fries were pretty fantastic). Service was good, just a tad slow. I don’t think we would go back anytime soon - except for maybe the fries!
Great food in an elegant atmosphere. Excellent waitstaff. Halibut was amazing. Coconut pie is the best.
Only place we can eat with food intolerance family & vegan. Clean food, customize it for you & plenty of special diet need lists. Service is excellent too.
We all had seafood. The entrees were perfect and the sides were exciting. The hot pesto mashed potatoes paired With the cold basil relish was scrumptious but I will order the relish on the side next time. It wasn’t as good after it warmed up. We parked in the street but they will validate parking in the building.
Overall our meal at Seastar was very good. We were unfortunately seated next to two tables with small children who were very loud. My father who wears a hearing aid found it unbearable and took his hearing aid out. In the future if we are seated next to tables with kids, we will ask to move to another section. The food was good and we had a great server. The prices are a little high in my opinion. $90 for a crab dinner... really?
Came here for lunch on my friends birthday. The food was okay no big deal. Pricey which I am okay with, however to have bread in the table they charge you $4.50 I though that was ridiculous with the prices they charge. However complimentary valet parking was a plus. Would not come here again.
Excellent food and service! Creative entrees for lunch and dinner. Reservations are a must. Enjoy!
Really overpriced for the food quality. Salads are great, wine by the glass list below average. King salmon was mushy and under-seasoned. A lot of the food, including the filet mignon tasted like it hadn’t been seasoned at all. Kitchen definitely not on top of the food going out. Nice atmosphere, but really loud. Seems like a lot of their business is corporate expense accounts, maybe this is why they get away with food that doesn’t match the price.
The service was fair. The entrees were very good and most of the desserts were tasty. Do not order the strawberry shortcake! We had to wait on basics like more wine, plates to be cleared etc
Good food but overpriced. Great selection of wine. We went here for our anniversary and really enjoyed our experience.
My only negative was the price of cocktails. Food was delicious
Everything was very good. Food and wine service were excellent. All dishes were very Goode Celt for somewhat overcooked salmon.
Always enjoy going to Seastar.
Would love to have Mahi Mahi back on menu. More variety of fish dishes such as past menus.
Excellent service. Food was amazing. Comfortable seating where you feel comfortable even though the restaurant was crowded. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Birthday dinner for 92 year old mother. Everyone had a great time. Service was excellent, as was the food. Excellent experience.
The service and food were up to the restaurant's standard that we have come to expect. It would be nice if there were an unflavored and unsweetened iced tea option.
The oysters were awesome in spite being late in the season, the toro sashimi and the yellowtail were outstanding, the soup was as usual consistently good, the king salmon was cooked to perfection and the service was great. A bit too noisy for my taste which made it difficult to have meaningful conversations at our table, but overall it was as usual a great dining experience consistent with the tradition and the reputation of chef Howie.
Love the service and special occasion-friendly yet still laid-back vibe. Our server was fabulous and we enjoyed all of the food except for the shrimp dish in the Seafood Tower appetizer - that was rather plain. Still - a wonderful dinner for my dad’s birthday, and we’ll be back many more times.
Good food. Attentive service. A eastside go to for seafood (and some good chicken).
Excellent meal, good service
This is a special occasion place. We enjoyed it but it is expensive. There is so much money over in Bellevue - you see a lot of young families feeding their kids some very expensive food.
Had a great experience with a party of seven people. Menu had a good selection and the wait staff provided excellent customer service. Food was very tasty with quality ingredients with a health conscious portions. Parking is convenient and overall easy to find.
Great seafood but definitely a splurge. Service was terrific and everybody got their fix
The mushroom plank n side order of Brussels sprouts were sooo oily I thought I was eating a Sichuan dish! 🤦🏻♀️
Josh was an excellent server and managed the “two” of us exceptionally well! We’ll be back!
Great food just a bit on the pricey side. The soups are the best!!!
My customers loved their experience and meal. As always scallop preparation is delicious. The meatballs and ceviche are terrific as apps for a group. We will be back!
Great food and great service but at the prices being charged I don't feel that he should be
This continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. Fantastic food and service. A bit pricey but great for special occasions.
For my sister’s Birthday
Absolutely wonderful! The steelhead was delicious, as was the wild salmon. It’s a splurge but well worth it.
Have been loyal patrons since they opened. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu, but personal favorites include the salmon, the trout, sushi and sashimi, the scallops and the best deviled eggs in the world. Service is always superb - attentive but not intrusive.
Absolutely amazing! Our server, Molly, was amazing and always there when we needed her. She made great recommendations. With a vegetarian, a pescatarian, and two carnivores there were options for everyone.
Never fails! Every time I return to Seattle for a visit in my old hometown, we go to see SeaStar!
We each chose something different from the menue and found all to be delicious. The Diver Scallops were the best I’ve ever had! Our waiter, Josh, was so good to us at this birthday lunch, and accommodated our different arrival times beautifully! Highly recommend!
