We really enjoyed the food, we celebrated a family birthday, and seafood was requested. Sea Star was the perfect option.

The seafood is excellent here- the remodel looked real nice. Excellent service and great appetizers too. It is expensive, so be ready for that. One thing that we thought was cheap was they asked if we wanted bread, and we said yes. Later, saw they charged 4 dollars for the bread. Have not seen that before, and they didn't used to do that. Their bread basket was not as good as it used to be either.... Anyway, we had a great time and it was worth the splurge.

I used to love Seastar, but they just remodeled and their prices went up about 20-25%. It was my birthday and the server convinced me to get a dessert so she could put a candle on it. In the end they also charged me $7 for my two scoops of ice cream. overall, the food is good, but the bump in prices is annoying.

It was my husband's 59th birthday that we were sharing with 4 friends and it was perfect. We were seated at the furthest corner from the entry, which was perfect because we can sometimes get loud (Irish Catholics, etc.). Christa was our server and she was absolutely fabulous throughout the entire evening. Everyone had something dinner ranging from the lobster tail to poke bowl to small plates of steamers, crab cakes & scallops. There wasn't a disappointing dish among the group. And our wine server was very good and directed us to the order in which we should drink the wines we brought. All in all it was a wonderful evening that I look forward to enjoying again at Seastar.

My family and I celebrated Thanksgiving a week early at Seastar. I'm glad we did. I would take fantastic seafood over turkey any day. We had a variety of sushi, oysters, salmon, and lobster. It was expensive but I knew that going in. One of the best meals I've had. This is the one to beat.

Wait staff were awesome. Food was slow to come out & not all our dinners were served simultaneously. Seafood was fantastic & we had a great table & a fun night - we had kids in our group from 5-15 and we all enjoyed the dinner.

Seastar again met all of our expectations. from the appetizer to the soup and salad, to the main course and topped off with a light desert. Jason, our waiter, was attentive, informative. A nice evening to celebrate our 55th Anniversary. Thanks!

Normally, Seastar is a favorite, but the service for a Sunday night was very poor. We waited 20 minutes for help on the wine list and only got help because of complaints. Not sue if it was because of restaurant week or not, but not a great experience during this visit.

Seastar just finished a complete remodel. The restaurant looks great and flows much better.
The menu was good with lots of new sushi options and a nice raw bar.
The reason I gave a 'fair' rating for value is because of the wine list. The majority of the list is for bottles over $300 with many over $500. We almost felt 'cheap' ordering a $105 bottle. Seastar needs to add a lot more reasonably price wine. We all know that there are hundreds of great wines out there for under $50.

We waited 10 minutes for the server to initially appear. Waited for our cocktails. Waited for our salads. By the time our entrees finally same we had been there over 90 minutes! The manager came by and apologized for the time to serve us. Gave us a $150 discount on our $400+ bill which under the circumstances was appreciated...but we would have rather paid and received appropriate service! The food was good once it appeared but by them the evening was kind of a disaster! Manger blamed the slow service on the kitchen being busy...but what would you expect on a Friday night. Maybe that but I think our sever wasn’t the caliber of server we have enjoyed in the past! Couple other observations...$4.00 for bread? Really? $86.00 for crab legs? From a restaurant with servers dressed in jeans? Come on...getting a bit to arrogant fir our own good here? Pretty soon you will price yourself out of the market! Too bad.

Other than paying $9 for a "shared side" of Asiago and blue cheese potatoes that were literally six BITES of baby red potatoes (not a typo - bites, not potatoes and yes, six of them), the meal was fantastic.

Only complaint is that they didn’t have a table ready for us at the time of the reservation. I had to stand in the lobby for 15-20 minutes waiting for a table with an important business relationship (group of 5) who had flown in specifically for the meeting.

The restaurant had called me during the day to confirm the reservation, and I suspect that because I was in meetings and unable to return the call to confirm, they assumed I wasn’t coming. I understand their challenges with no-shows, but having to confirm by phone defeats the purpose of using OpenTable, doesn’t it? The food, service, and ambiance were all great, but I probably would not use OpenTable at this restaurant again.

Nice food! I always enjoy coming here. Cocktails are tasty (get the pear kamikaze if you like sweet!). This is a very nice restaurant, dimly lit and good ambiance. We were glad the music was not too loud and in the other room. Service was excellent. We made reservations and table was ready. Server was EXTREMELY friendly and appropriately attentive. Food: I've had a delicious halibut in the past and appetizer tower is amazing. This time, my scallops were perfectly cooked but a little grainy. My partner found the crab cakes too buttery (oozing butter) and the crab bisque too thick so probably will not get those items again. Otherwise, great local restaurant and plan to come back!

Met colleagues for lunch. The service was fast, but unobtrusive. Waiter was friendly and competent. The food was very good. The restaurant has a nice feel to it, and is attractively laid out. All in all a good experience. This is why I like to schedule such events here. One thing that is very important to me is the ability to have a conversation with friends, in an agreeable atmosphere and a person can do that here. So many restaurants are just so noisy these days, that it makes an otherwise nice meal an unpleasant experience. This is not the case at Seastar.

I was disappointed in the level of service from our server. She wasn’t pleasant. I think she was feeling well. It was a Birthday celebration and it was noted on our reservation. She brought dessert with no acknowledgement as to whose birthday was being celebrated.
I was disappointed that I booked Seastar to celebrate my day.

I always think the food is excellent and consistent. However, I did notice some of the portions are smaller and the prices are bigger. I think this reflects the cost of remodeling. Personally I'm not sure if the remodeling was needed, it seems darker to me and a bit more industrial looking.
I'm originally from the midwest and there you can find much bigger portions at much smaller prices, so I can't understand paying for smaller portions at higher prices. I do understand quality and freshness and am usually willing to pay more for this, but I think prices are getting a bit out of hand today.

Six of us gathered for a "catch up" dinner. We had requested a "quiet" table and were happily placed in the back by a wall. Fabulous food and great conversation. We went during Restaurant Week so could enjoy fabulous food at prices quite reasonable - otherwise a pricey place but really really good!

Seattle Restaurant week, as always the service is excellent. I've avoided the tilapia the last few years on principle, but tried it this year. Sea Star serves a delicious pan fried tilapia with mashed pots and veggies. Additional cost for bread basket is minor, but basket had strange parmesean rolls and pretzel rolls ... disappointing. Drinks, starts, desserts were great; coffee a perfect finisher; in all a nice dinner out with friends.

Seastar is one of our favorites and this dinner did not disappoint. My husband started with a 1/2 dozen oysters and he clearly enjoyed each and everyone of them. We then shared the roasted beet and honeycrisp apple salad, it was devine. For our main course we had the Steelhead. It was absolutely fabulous! It was prepared with a southwest twist and we were both blown away. The flavors were fantastic and every component made the dish spectacular. We will most certainly be back!

Normally one of our favorite spots, but this time was very disappointing . Food was mediocre: King salmon was bland, scallops were overcooked and tough, very small portion of rice accompanied swordfish. Service was ridiculously slow. In fact, the poor food quality and inexplicably slow service put a real damper on the whole event--which was to celebrate our son's 20th birthday. I still would recommend Sea Star, because in the past it has been so wonderful, but this time was really disappointing. And the bill was over $500 for 8 people. When you spend that kind of money for a special occasion dinner, you expect superior food and service. We typically go there on Friday or Saturday evening; this time we went on Wednesday evening. Maybe that's the difference?

UPDATE: Seastar restaurant contacted us to discuss our past visit, and management was very concerned that we had such a negative experience. Seastar went above and beyond to try to make things right and ensure that we don't have a repeat negative experience. We are very impressed by their high level of customer care and will definitely go back! And as I said in my original review, Seastar has consistently served amazing food in the past.
