We recently dined at Seastar for birthday party, 9 people. Service was uneven with 10-15 minutes after we were seated before we saw our waiter and no information in specials until we asked about them. Made decision making a little more difficult than it needed to be with such an extensive menu. All in all, service was not bad, but not what was expected for a John Howie restaurant at this level. Food was as well decent, not great. Portions were average. Desserts a real disappointment. Nothing stood out and most felt a little industrial. Have been to Seastar many times and given the alternatives, will probably not return unless as part of a business dinner that someone else plans - and pays for.
We had the most amazing dinner at Seastar! Our favorite was the ahi poke for an appetizer and the Seared Tuna which was FABULOUS. It is a very pricey place, but it was nice to go out and have a great time, great drinks and great seafood!
Late Valentine’s Day dinner
Amazing food and everything was fresh and tasty! Waiter was personable and very helpful. Yes it is spendy, but worth every last bite! We recommend everything!
Got in early before crowd. Quickly seated. Decent table. Friendly service. Scallops trio was very good. Bread service with good butter. Lobster mash potatoes very good. Crab salad was good, a little thick on the dressing. Filet Mignon was very tender, asked for medium, got more med rare, still good enough not to send back. Asparagus perfectly cooked. French red wine by glass paired perfect with steak. $160
We were seated by the entrance so ambiance wasn't so great. There were dishes that we had enjoyed before (within the past 3 years) which were no longer available. Overall, food and beverages are still great.
My boyfriend and I went on Valentines Day. It was crowded but did not feel like it was noisy. It felt private and like we were given enough great service. Food was great. Will definitely go again, just expect to pay at least $100 for 2 people.
It was Valentine's Day and Seastar was very crowded. They had added more tables, but the service was still very timely and excellent. If you like seafood, Seastar has lots of options and the food came out promptly and hot even with the crowd.
Our dinner was very tasty. We have been here many times and enjoy it immensely. Service is good and appetizers, drinks and meals are very timely. We will be back!
When I wanted a place to take my nephew on his visit to the Seattle area, I selected Seastar for it’s great seafood. We had two preparations of the king salmon and the scallops - great choices. Also enjoyed the crab cakes and crab bisque.
We went on a Sunday evening. We’re new to the area so we’re randomly picking restaurants as we discover what we like. I had oysters, tuna crudo, and diver scallops. My husband had filet. It was all just wonderful. I recommend and will also return.
Excellent food, good vibe, pretty good service, a bit loud, convenient non-Seattle location and thus easier to get to, a newish menu, dependebly good in general.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Food was hot , cooked just the way I ordered . I had steak, she had salmon. Both thought they were very good. Sea food tower was appetizer . Scallops and crab cake were good. Prawns were battered and I didn’t like that.
SeaStar is a great restaurant, we visited it many times and considered the best one around. It is still very good, but after remodeling it seems to lose some part of the charm, in all respects - food is not exactly as it was, interior is trivialized, service is not as exquisite - only the prices went up. Pity...
Enjoyed a delicious dinner, which included the seafood stew, black cod and salads. Exceptional service from Christa!
a bit disappointing. we have eaten there a few time and have been very happy. this time was a little off. soup was much less impressive than the last time we ate there. salmon was overcooked and quite dry. some of the small plates were less flavorful than previously. continue to be very noisy. would try again maybe had a off night or the chef was less attentive than usual.
Great food and service as usual. French press coffee was a nice touch.
All of the food we had was very good: crab cake appetizer, jambalaya entre, scallops entre. Coffee was served in a press, which was very nice.
Server was friendly and attentive.
One of the best seafood restaurants in town; always fresh and tasty. The new remodel made the atmosphere even better.
My girlfriend could not get over how good her scallops were. Best she'd ever had and she kept making an almost inappropriate face in reaction to how good they were.
My salmon was pretty good. The creme brulee was excellent and the wine selection was good. Top notch service.
