A great spot for a quiet dinner when visiting our son at UC Davis
I always enjoy the food at Season's. Generally the service is good. This night seemed to be chaotic. Our server seemed stressed. She was assigned tables by the windows near F Street and tables outside which is a long distance to keep track of things. I had the feeling that the restaurant was understaffed that evening. While Seasons is never quiet it also seemed exceptionally noisy Thursday evening.
Always one of our favorites when we come to Davis. Very fresh and tasty food.
We had a very enjoyable meal before attending a performance at the Mondavi. Every dish was attractive and tasty and we both also had a nice glass of wine. The entire staff was friendly and attentive.
We had dinner with a friend who was moving to another state. We has a reservation on a Wed night. The place was packed when we got there at 6:30 pm, mostly with happy hour people. Our reserved table was essentially in the doorway; you could feel the draft when people were in and out. The service fluctuated between inattentive and neglecting. Our wine arrived way way after we finished the appetizers. The food was ok-ish; they were out of the Wed special (again, at 6:30 pm!), so everybody at the table had the fish. The fish itself was nicely cooked. It came with a risotto that was way way overcooked. I am not saying it was not al dente; the rice looked like it soaked a lot of water..it made me wonder if they added water and reheated it. The place was half empty by 7:30 pm so the inattentive service cannot be completely explained. Also they brought the check before we asked for it; seems like they can hurry when they want to. Bottom line is, maybe you can go there for happy hour/lunch first and make sure you like it, before investing in a full-price dinner.
First, why don't any of OpenTable's "Occasions" or categories include travel? We were in Davis for the next day's freshman applicants' visit at UC Davis. So, not daily dining, but not a "special" occasion. Seasons is in a small business district very close to the campus and not too many minutes from I-80. There's street parking, plus free lots and a multi-story garage across the street. The menu was small, with interesting choices and a printed sheet of specials. There was only one entrée in each meat category on the regular menu (beef, pork, chicken, fish), plus a few pasta and pub dishes. My pork chop was very good--cooked enough, but still juicy, and with a spicy apple sauce. The fish and pasta dished chosen by the others were all complimented. If you like bread pudding, be sure to ask for details about the daily choice; ours had chocolate chips, which I would not have chosen had I had that detail. Between the food, the room, moderate pricing, and ease of freeway access, this might be one of the better choices for a full meal for travelers between Sacramento and Vallejo.
I was quite disappointed in that the EASTER BRUNCH menu had only 2 real brunch offerings. Everything else was lunch. When one has family out for the lovely brunch, you expect to have good options. The excuse provided was that they were going to have a large crowd and wouldn’t be able to offer a real brunch menu to that many guests! Wish that was what would have been shown on the online menu offerings for that day. Disappointing.
We were having Easter Brunch, so wanted something a little special. We all had eggs Benidict, a classic. The dish was exactly as it should be, not remarkable, just adequate. The coffee was very good. Most customers were on the patio so it was quiet in the dining room so we could have a conversation. The servers were very pleasant even though we didn’t order the $10. Bellinis, any starters or desserts. The ambiance was very nice with landscape paintings and view of the kitchen. We give restaurants a letter grade with my husband giving them a C And I give them a B.
Went for easter brunch. The section for bring was minimal, expensive and not clearly communicated on what items were available. We didn’t receive much food for the cost. A little disappointed because we normally enjoy coming here for a fair price and fresh food.
Occasional meal with family. Food was flavorful and well presented. Menu was varied. Service was excellent. Corkage fee was reasonable. We went within an hour of closing so there weren’t many folks; it’s probably pretty noisy when the place is full. A fine experience.
We had a good time : food, service, etc but find it too pricey
Disappointing that their menu just does not change. Server did not keep track of our beer order so we had to taste to try to sort out. Guest ordered "Mahi-mahi" and got ahi.
Waitress seemed to want to hurry us out.
Food was very good, but service was rushed. Restaurant was busy, and we felt they were trying to turn tables as quickly as possible.
Seasons is always good for a very good meal and bottle of wine.
The service was not bad, but it could have been better. The staff could have checked up on us more frequently. For example, the hostess had to come by to take the check. I like the breadstick concept, but my kids would have loved it if the waiter would have offered the bread basket more than just once. It was a bit on the pricey side for the food we ate. For a Sunday dinner, I would have hoped for a little more attention to detail.
Great! Great food and service.
The waitress was awfully incompetent
The worst service for a long time at Seasons
Great ambiance, super service!
Love having brunch at Seasons! It's a perfect meeting place for my friends (coming from Bay Area) and me (coming from Sierra foothills) and the food is always a treat. The tuna melt is a favorite and one of my friends always has the eggs Benedict; the frittata is also excellent . The atmosphere is fun and comfortable and there's no rush at the table, you can sit there and visit.
Kelly provided wonderful service for our birthday group of seven. Several of us enjoyed two of Saturday night specials: lamb ribs and crab cakes. We brought a specialty cake which was served with candle and then sliced and plated.
Quiet lunch with friends. Nice place, nothing remarkable
Our first visit to Seasons, and we will definitely be back. Salmon salad, salmon sandwich (special of the day), and crab cakes were ordered. Fish cooked to perfection, and platters artfully arranged. Also ordered creme brulee' for dessert, which was equally wonderful. Nothing from the bar this trip, but coffee rich and satisfying.
Excellent service paired with the food means future visits.
I ordered the 14 oz steak special, but got a much, much smaller cut! When I saw the guy next to me getting one double the size of my steak, I almost cried foul! My wife was craving for their bread-sticks, we saw a hostess bringing around a basket (filled with bread-sticks), but for some reason, she never made it near our table! Our waitress was OK, but we felt she could have been more attentive (breadsticks anyone?!) Also, more smiles would have been nice! Food was overall very descent, so we’re willing to give it another shot in future. Bon appetit!
Seasons is a perennial favorite in Davis. The chef is accomplished and the service staff efficient and professional.
Very noisy as every visit there has proven to be. Went early when restaurant opened and not very crowded and it was still too loud to be able to comfortably carry on a conversation. too many hard surfaces that do not absorb sound.
Came here on a business trip...very lively and loud. Everything was good, very busy night so the kitchen was slow, but thats OK...nice place
Although it's been a few years since we last returned, we've never been disappointed dining at this restaurant. At lunchtime the menu is a bit limited, all four of us enjoyed our meal. It took awhile for the food to arrive at our table after ordering but the wait help were gracious and professional. Their special for the day was spaghetti pescadore(with mahi mahi) and it was a highlight for those who ordered it. Portions were generous and prices appropriate for a restaurant of this quality.
Celebrated Valentines day with my new bride. Have eaten at Seasons before , there Valentines at menu while limited was excellent.
Our experience was “ok” and comes with a tepid recommendation. Our entrees, salmon and lamb shank, were satisfactory but not outstanding, particularly for the relatively high prices. The best part of the meal was the goat cheese appetizer which was excellent. Our server was also excellent. We will probably return at some point but not rush right back.
Adult dining in Davis! We have so few places here that are clean, quiet, and serve good food. Appreciate this one, for sure!
almost always a great meal. when a problem they comp and leave you happy.
creative food an drink.
Lovely experience overall ... excellent food (avocado toast on the starter menu was fantastic!) and great service.
Very satisfied with our experience. Margarita pizza was exceptional. Entrees were very good. We had a pasta dish and a salmon dish. They were out of the fish special and we were there at 7:30. The room is quite pleasant. Service was certainly satisfactory if not exceptional. We will definitely be back.
I was somewhat disappointed with this visit. The restaurant was very loud. The service was not particularly attentive, and the steak of the day was very sinewy and served nearly raw. Not sure I'll be back.
Excellent food, and the wait staff was attentive enough. However the kitchen was backed up for some reason, and we did not get our food for over an hour and 25 min after we arrived. We had to eat it in about 5 minutes and rush off to catch our performance, which kind of ruined the experience. The seasonal cocktails are fun, and the food has always been good, but between the noisy environment, cold air coming in the front door, and the late food we are reconsidering when or whether we eat there.
I highly suggest you go back to a basic ceasar salad with a real good dressing made with anchovies and lots of lemon. Adding dried tomatoes ruins it as well as the addition of radicchio, both have too strong flavors, and adding mushrooms all takes away from the refreshing taste of a good ceasar.
While the vegetarian dish has truly great flavors, having pasta and potatoes in same dish is a little heavy-handed on the starch side.
wonderful, I don't understand why open table says I was a no show. We were there at 5:30 as reserved, checked in with the hostess, went to bar, and then seated for dinner. Sounds like there is a communication problem between the resturant and open table.
Great Meal, service and the location was good. Parkign could be better, but thats Davis
I met 2 friends here for lunch. All 3 of us were very pleased with our Cocktails, 3 different ones. We also ordered 3 different entrees and all were creatively presented and tasted delicious. It was a very relaxed atmosphere with great service.
