Seasons at Jeffrey's Ratings and Reviews
Awful service, don't want anyone fired but someone needs to train these kids. The overall experience was disappointing, it's small with high ceilings which already make it hard to talk but throw in the piano player in a pint size dining room and it becomes s scream fest.
Could have dealt with the noise if the food was warm when it arrived.
I have been to Jeffreys many times over the years and I have to say I was very disappointed this last time we went for many reasons. We went on Easter Sunday at 6:30. The place was empty. The whole time we were there only 4 other patrons were in the restaurant. Despite that the service was slow. The waiter had an attitude when we asked for a wine list and was not responsive to questions. The specials menu was full of typographical and other errors and they were out of several things. The evening was topped off when they refused to take my gift card which clearly stated on it that it was valid everyday but Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving. They refused to take it because it was Easter despite there being a total of six people in the restaurant. I specifically checked the gift card before we made the reservation. They were very rude and argumentative about this as well. As for the food the stuffed date appetizer was very good. The entrees were acceptable but not of the former quality of this restaurant.
We hadn't been here before and at first, startled by the noise(singer). We were told to sit wherever and then left. Thought my husband was ready to leave but we eventually received a menu.... Then a drink. AND the singer turned out to be exceptianly good. The waiter was very nice but (I think) new, AND the food was very good. I THINK this is s place you could go for food and entertainment and become s regular.
Went for Valentine's Day. I had heard mixed reviews but decided to take a chance. Service was terribly slow. We were given rolls with 1 small pat of butter for the table to share, ordered the lobster bisque - it had absolutely no lobster in it and was very spicy. People had boasted to us about how good it was and that it was loaded with lobster. Not ours. I questioned the waiter about the soup he said that yes that was the lobster bisque I still believe we were given the wrong soup. Also didn't care for the main course. I got the lobster with pasta and it was extremely fishy tasting. I couldn't finish it. In the ladies room the hostess asked me where I had been sitting, apparently some other customers had walked out on the bill. I could see why. Very disappointed. We won't be back.
We came here for Valentine's Day '17. Had to take a 530 reservation, so it was quiet at first. Once it filled, the service went downhill. Never saw our waiter unless we had someone flag him down. My wife's dessert was overdone and dry and I had to get up and beg for our check. Entrees were good, but portions were small. I won't be going back!
Chose this because lots of seafood options on online menu, very limited in reality. Evening was pleasant enough early but as dining room filled, it got very noisy. Not sure if it is room's acoustics or what, but one woman's shrill loud voice could be heard across the room- to the point of being intrusive.
food was tasty enough but nothing out of the ordinary. I had several small dishes, friend had the duck.
DOn't think we will go back. We had 6 PM reservations, planned on long leisurely meal as we haven't seen each other in a long time. At 8 PM we were asked to leave because there was a live band about to start and they wanted to seat someone else. So we skipped coffee and dessert, went somewhere else. Places where it says "second seating" we understand we need to leave, had no idea this would happen here or we wouldn't have gone there in the first place.
Overall, my experience was pretty ordinary, but alas, I was hoping for better. The servers were friendly and reasonably efficient, and the restaurant certainly has a nice ambiance, but the food was uninspired. Granted, my caprese salad was ordered in December when fresh tomatoes are out of season, but even considering this, the tomato slices were rather thin. The mozzarella was of good quality, but there was a large pile of fresh greens on top that overwhelmed the plate. For my entree, the half-chicken was slightly overcooked and generally uninspired, while the vegetables and mashed potato sides were reasonably good.
Jeffrey's is an attractivevredtaurantvwith a medium sized dining room. Tables are far apart, recorded music is pleasant and allows for easy conversation with table mates and yet privacy from other diners. Dining room has large windows looking out on marsh and fields. There also are outdoor deck and patio for nice weather dining.
All four of us enjoyed our food selections for lunch. They were generous in size and appetizing. Menu offers numerous varied and interesting choices.
Service was prompt and courteous.
How to sum up this place - a mess. From beginning to end this was the most dis-organized, unprofessional restaurant I have been to in a long while. Quick note - don't bother looking at the menu on open table - most of that is not served!! Let's review - the waiter acted like some surfer dude at a shake shack. I asked about a wine on the wine list and he said "oh I don't know about those wines man and it really doesn't matter cuz we probably don't have it because you know we sell a lot of wine here, I mean a lot wine and it's always changing" - ok, we will skip the wine. Ordered cocktails - brought one which was watered down and said they were looking for the bottle for the other which came later with a nice wink from the waiter (not sure why?!).
On to appetizers - ordered the cheese/tomato dish and Orzo salad. The cheese/tomato was good I will grant that but the Orzo salad was missing something - ORZO! In fact it was missing the orzo, the olives, the cheese and most everything else the menu mentioned. When we asked is this was the right salad the waiter dude said "oh, that's it's been coming out of the kitchen for weeks". So the salad is now a chef's surprise!
On to the entrees - ordered New York Steak with two types of mashed potatoes and fish. The presentation was terrible - it was like the chef went to a buffet line and slopped everything onto the plate burying the steak. Wish I had taken a picture, it was so unbelievable. The steak was poor quality and didn't finish it. Maybe because by this time my leg and shoe were soaked because the waiter (not the dude) knocked over my drink when placing the plate on the table (no I am not making this up!). Yes, an honest mistake and he was very sorry but it just added to the clown routine of the place. The fish was overcooked and not worthy of mention.
Since we were on the patio we paid the bill and fled around the side before having dessert & went next door for ice cream - best decision of the evening!
I have been to Jeffery's before and always enjoyed it. This time was very disappointing. The service was excellent but the food wasn't. Lobster tail was out of shell and cut into small pieces and all the vegetables were so overcooked they weren't worth eating. Duck was ok but nothing special. There used to be a piano player in the evening , but this time there was a man with a keyboard and and a computer. Very disappointing. The waiter and the bartender's service made the evening special. Nothing else did.
I would recommend Jeffries to anyone . The food, the waitress, and everyone else we delt with were great. The one issue which was beyond there control was that it was so cold that night that they had to close one room which backed things up ,the staff was great unfortunately some customers lack in class . Take away the idiots as it was a 5 star night. Will definitely be back.
In all fairness, restaurant was crowded as it was Feb 13. We were seated and after waiting 15 minutes, I had to approach hostess to request a server. After that, things were very good. Outstanding preparation on calamari app, and entrees were prepared perfectly- scallops seared well yet tender. Filet perfect medium rare. Good wines, nice desserts. Food quality warrants a return trip.
We have come here the past 2 Christmas Eve's. The restaurant seems understaffed. For the holidays.
The waiter was terse and unfriendly.
The service was extremely slow. I never had my water glass refilled.
Food was okay not fabulous.
The price is expensive.
In contrast I have come for lunch when it is quiet and had excellent service and food.
It started right away as we sat down with the bus boy joking that he had just cleaned this table. and telling us that the bread would take some time to come out of the oven.
as we sat there the restaurant felt plain and dated. very hollow. having a live band playing made it worse with an increased noise level, for which they did not even play very well.
We ordered drinks, and the specials (dry erase) board was presented to us with a disclosure that they had run out of the steak entree. my immediate thought was to erase it then. we asked what else was good, and the waiter was pushing the high dollar items.
i ordered the new england tilapia tomato chowder (special) -it was like a water based soup and had no flavor. was not special at all. followed by the house made raviolli filled with spinach, asparagus, portobello mushrooms, mascarpone and parmesan cheeses in a zesty pomodoro sauce. yikes if i wanted to eat a pizza i would have ordered a pizza. i did add the sea scallops which was probable the only good part but still soaked in that sauce.
as we tried to assertively ask for the check, the waiter continued to promote dessert or more drinks. he could tell we were not satisfied but made no attempt to justify our displeasure.
kindly enough i will not return to this restaurant nor would i recommend anyone else to
Ambiance and service were very nice. View over the salt marsh out the back windows makes it a very nice lunch location. My lamb was perfectly done, but my wife's roast duck was very dry, and could have easily been supplanted by a dry roast chicken. All the more disappointing because she herself makes a great roast duck. I would recommend something other than the duck on the menu. Otherwise nice restaurant.
We ordered off the price fix menu for Restaurant Week and all of us enjoyed our meals very much. We had some special needs (gluten allergy) and the server was very willing to do his best to get the kitchen to accommodate this. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and all four of us were very pleased, including our gluten person.
