Haven’t been here in awhile. The restaurant is very cool but my entree was over cooked small in size and overall disappointing
Birthday. Service was not good. The waiter did not know the menu and did not have very good timing. The apps were ok but not great. Calamari was chewy. The pork chop was over cooked and the ahi was excellent. I thought the salmon was fishy. It was pricy for what we got. I loved the 50 percent off deal on bottles of wine.
This restaurant is in a convenient location, though it may not be obvious to a newcomer how to access it since it is visible from Del Mar Heights road, yet you have to go into a large parking lot serving the Del Mar Highlands Shopping Center and figure out where to park. The interior is quite attractive and spacious. We were there on the early side and it was kind of empty, but it started filling up around 6PM. Service was quick and competent. The Ahi tuna plate was quite good (all four of my party ordered this). The salad was good but had too much dressing (best to order it on the side). Overall, a nice place that I would try again.
Service was slow, but they did keep filling up the bottomless $16 mimosas sooo whatever!
Wide-ranging and diverse menu with creative cocktails and wine selections in a hip, modern, yet whimsical atmosphere. Service was friendly, helpful and engaging. Excellent meal and memorable experience. Indicated ‘Special Occasion’ on reservation and host/server remembered! (BTW, this was the 1st restaurant in over two years of Opentable reservations that noted that dinner was a ‘special occasion’.)

Our waitress was wonderful and the food OK. It was so loud inside we could not hear anything. Very difficult to try and carry on a conversation without yelling.

The food was excellent as was the service. I was not happy with the 3% surcharge to pay for the increase in minimum wage law. In their defense, it is listed on the menu and it was refunded back to me by the manager. However, I will not return because of this nonsensical charge.

My husband and I both ate the shrimp and grits appetizer as our entree. The appetizer comes in a generous portion. The calamari was soggy because they mixed too much of the sweet and sour sauce on top. The sauce over powered the calamari. I would have prefer the sauce on the side. I was not too fond of the Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were too sour because it tasted like they used too much red wine vinegar. The desserts are large enough to share. Our server, Collin, was funny and friendly!
Pork and duck fat fries were both very salty. Salmon was very good. The beet and goat cheese jar was fabulous !!

My wife and I made reservations here for Valentine’s Day. As with most restaurants on this occasion, they only offered a pre-fixed menu. However, unlike most restaurants, this was not a typical volume play. While it was a bit pricey, the flavor and presentation of each dish in the four courses was excellent. For our mains, I had the NY strip and my wife had a cornmeal battered branzino. Both were seasoned well and cooked as specified. Another notable standout was the Tetilla Cheese plate as a dessert option. Not your typical offering, but a surprisingly delicious mix of savory, spicy and sweet.

Very few vegan (1) entree options. Grilled sweet potato $25 with a smear of a sauce that was so salty I couldn’t eat it. 3 thick slices of grilled sweet potato on a plate - that’s it.
Honestly, I expected a little more creativity and effort from a trained chef. I literally could have made a better grilled sweet potato at home for under $1.
Take trip down the road to Flower Child in the Flower Hill Mall for some inspiration. I don’t know who designs their menu, but they are brilliant. A fast casual restaurant that offers creative delicious options for the vegan and non vegan.

The server/ manager removed the entrees from the bill. This was appreciated. However, our 44th anniversary celebration was not pleasant. Too loud - sounded like canned crowd noise...?
The server and the wine were the only good parts of the night. We brought the wine!

Have been to this location a few times and this was not the best experience I've had. While this was SDRW, service/clearing between courses/consistency with dishes/check backs were VERY slow except for the check drop.
We normally go for lunch so this was the first time visiting on a Saturday night. It was a busy night, so the manager took our drink orders. Despite that, everybody still got it right. One of our guests was a bit more high maintenance yet the waiter and manger were outstanding at responding politely and promptly to the requests. Food - duck wings were outstanding, chicken moist tender and flavorful. Restaurant week, so it would have been helpful to let us know up front that the Prix Fixe menu had slightly different portions, but we worked it out anyway. In any case definitely still one of our favorite spots.
So I had high expectations as we have diner here many times before, but it was restaurant week so it very busy, service was rushed (in and out in a hour) what really ticked me off was the 3% additional surcharge to cover the cost increase in minimum wage. While I support a living wage why not simply add $1 to every main course and 50 cents to a starter.
Reservation booked on Open Table was not actually a reservation....told to go wait in bar for 30 mins then come back to check if we could have a table (no pager etc).
Food was passable but not fantastic. Disappointing for the price. "Rare" tuna was dry, if that's possible. Beets and Goat cheese jar was confusing - sweet jello cubes with beet jam underneath. Desert (mousse bar) was the best part.
$160 for two with restaurant week menus, 2 extra sides & 2 glasses of wine.
From snippy bartenders, to drafty table, to slow surface, and undercooked burger ruined by American cheese, it was a disastrous evening. I think this place is better suited to bar bites and cocktails in the back patio, but I will not be coming back for dinner
The decor is interesting - rustic/loft. My entree was wonderful (Jidori chicken). The service was ..... mixed. Our server was pleasant and came to our table within minutes. However, he did not inform my husband that his iced tea would not be the usual brewed black tea but a fruity concoction. Nor did he warn my husband that the Chile Torneado purée accompanying the flank steak is extremely over-the-top spicy-hot —- so hot it entirely overpowered the perfectly grilled steak. My husband had asked for non-sugar sweetener for his iced tea at the time it was served. We waited over 15 minutes for the sweetener and it only arrived after finally getting a chance to ask for it again from the young lady delivering our entrees.
Staff should be instructed to inform the guests of anything different from the norm, especially in cases like the uncomfortably spicy purée which was not flagged as such on the menu.
However, the reason I give Searsucker such a low rating is the racket. The restaurant was not packed, but the noise level was horrible. There was no way my husband and I could have a conversation without leaning over and yelling. The rating descriptions above label my rating as “energetic” ... I would define it as “painfully loud”. Instead of having a relaxing dinner and enjoying the excellent Jidori chicken dish, I found myself shoveling the food down as fast as I could just to escape the never-ending pounding din. Definitely not my idea of money well spent.
Food came out in a timely manner. Our server Cierra was very helpful with suggestions. Food tasted amazing, drinks pretty good. A little too dark for me inside but I got over it.
It was restaurant week. The restaurant week serving sizes, especially the dessert, were smaller than ordering a la carte. The food was delicious. The waitress was excellent. The hostess desk was just ok. When we have a reservation and there are empty tables, i don't like being told to "wait at the bar".
Took way too long to get our check processed. We probably waited longer than 30 min with receipt and our credit card clearly visable on the table and had to waiver her down.
Our server would disappear for long durations and not check on us.
Food was very good - lots of choices in apps/small plates which is what we did. Kids' menu is pretty good. Prices are fairly high - esp on the entrees. THey also charge a service charge of 3% for wages . . . . i hate it when restaurants do that.
