Our entrees were good. We had a Stickey Toffee Pudding that was not good. The whip cream topping with some sort of Southwest seasoning? Was inedible.
Our server was very good. They should have not charged us for the desert. They did charge us which was unfortunate.
Front of the house wasn’t friendly. We had to wait to be seated and it wasn’t busy. We were given a table right by the opened doors on a cold night. We asked to move and it was like a chore. 1 out of 5 really liked the meal.
Not what it was. You can tell it doesn’t have a strong chef at the helm anymore. While many restaurants in the area had lines to get in, this one does not anymore. We were sat towards the back, and with many tables open, by the servers station. With that the service was still terrible trying to get a first drink and appetizer. Forget about a refill. We had the steak and salmon with the steak med rare but blue in the center and the salmon the opposite and black crusted on the flesh side although it wasn’t asked for or on the menu as Cajun blackened. Potatoes were gummy, but the corn was delicious. Little flavor in the meal in general. We passed on dessert and left.
Eddie was the man!! Very knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. Octopus is a must try and the short rib is melt in your mouth good!
The servicer were obviously unhappy and made my party feel unwelcome.
Wonderful service from the reception to the wait staff! Carley was genuine and attentive and Ricardo gave special attention to us for my sisters birthday! Love this place!!!
To start off, the food was excellent. We started with two appetizers (pork belly and the mussels) both of which were fantastic. Our mains were short rib and the filet. Again, all fantastic! Bar drinks were also well made.
Where you lost me.. I came here with my husband for dinner and to celebrate a milestone at his work. I was excited to bring him to Searsucker, as I’ve visited once before and loved it. I was really confused with where you’re trying to take the establishment. I understand that there is a large bar and we’re in the middle of gaslamp. With that said, are you trying to compete with the sports bars? Having a person on the mic announcing birthdays and promoting vodka seems really down market for a restaurant that is as great as yours with the price points that you charge. I felt like I was back in college enjoying $2 vodka soda nights or something... if it was just me, so be it. However, as soon as the guy would start talking on the mic, everyone dining looked around with confusion. And a cardboard cut out? Really?
Lastly, our service was not very good at all. What made it worse was the table next to us with a different server getting fantastic service. They arrived much later than us and got their food and drinks well before us, too. For slapping in an additional charge for service, I would hope you would also expect more from your staff. I’m perfectly fine with paying more, and still left a 20% tip on top of everything, but I went into your restaurant excited and left feeling like I never need to go back.
This our favorite Gaslamp restaurant!
The food is always good and the staff is always friendly and attentive.
Mussels, Frites and Cobb Salad with Chicken were all outstanding for lunch. Will go back for dinner!
Great to hear Melissa, we look forward to have you join us again for dinner.
Went here today and got the Mussels which were very good! The environment is nice and cozy and a good place to come for food even with a limited menu.
We saute our mussels in 10 Barrel Brewery's Pub Beer and add in some chorizo which give them a great flavor. Thanks for the feedback Larry!
need more vegetables on menu
Good brunch & service was great!!
Hip Hop brunch should be more hip hop.Play list can be improved.Servers can dress the part a bit more. People want a great expierence including food drinks & ambiance. Place was packed.Service & food great just lacked in HipHop. Ok food & beverages named by theme. But what else was hiphop??? Go all out not 1/2 @$$. People wanted to get hip hop w music vibe..some servers broke out in some dance moves YESSSSSS customers dancing at thier table. We were MORE hip hop than the restaurant. Get some blow up radios /mics party favors It lacks the WOW factor of hiphop. You cant put a name on it & thats it.
Great service, drinks, food, and atmosphere ! Definitely will be going back!
Food was great. Drinks and food came out at a good pace. It worked out perfectly before seeing a show at the Balboa Theatre.
The two salads we ordered - the lettuce was frozen. It hurt to eat. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant during lunch, yet it took forever for our waitress to take our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. I'e been here for brunch before and LOVED it. But this lunch experience was very disappointing.
Good dinner but not top notch.
Another meh corporate restaurant meal. Ordered 5 dishes to share, meat was tough, lettuce was bruised and overdressed. Artichoke appetizer was good, though. Would not return.
The portions size we’re extremely small for the exorbitant cost of the meal. Plus I has shrimp and grits, which is a dish I eat often which is normally very flavorful, it was tasteless at searsuckers.
Great place! Excellent menu with lots of options. Kids menu as well. Clean, service with stellar. Definitely will come back.
Delicious fresh Cobb salad and mocktails - highly recommend
The food was wonderful. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive and let us conduct our business meeting without interruption, she was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great food, service and location!
Group brunch after cancer walk at Balboa Park
the Jidori chicken was rubbery and oversalted. What a shame! My husband ordered the lamb instead. We were not offered a free dessert, or anything on the house after that big disappointment.
Javer was a great server! Food and beverages were all great.
Went for a business lunch. Restaurant was empty but music was super loud. Food was ok but service was not great- don’t think they understand people want to be in n out for lunch.
It used to be a lot better for lunch. I feel it's gone a bit average...
Good food. Seating is important at this restaurant. Don't sit near the kitchen or prep area. Too loud/distracting and crowded.
Good place. Will recommend it to others.
Food was delicious and service was almost perfect apart from the fact our starters came out after our mains arrived! Would deffo go back
Recommend the burrata or lamb neck!
This was such a nice experience! Form the bartender at the bar that made the beat martini i think I’ve ever had to the final bill which was so reasonable that I had to look twice. The food was amazing and Richard our server made us feel totally at home. Loved this place years ago and I’m happy to say it is still a favorite. See you next time
Everything was amazing. Great food, excellent service. Definitely will be returning
It's a nice place. I got the New York Strip. The steak was good, cooked right. DIdn't come with alot of potatos or mushrooms. Really just enough to say they were there. If you I think it's alittle over priced.
Nice venue. Pricing a little high, but not drastic. I had cobb salad and something in the salad was very salty, not sure if it was dressing or chicken, but I really tasted a lot of salt.
Our server was the best we had in San Diego (and the best I've had in a long time.) Very attentive, knowledgeable, and fun. We had a great time. The manager even found out that we were a bachelorette party and did something special for the bride to be.
Great brunch options with fun cocktails and a delicious sticky bun.
The food was so delicious and the staff was amazing! Katie was the best server!
Food was average for downtown. Nothing special. Service was very poor. We got the main courses BEFORE the appetizers. But the worst part is that the music was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other. Even the waiter had to yell to be heard. I enjoy loud music in a club, but not when I am sitting to eat at a restaurant. I don't know why they do this. Never going back.
The NY strip was incredible and the drinks were impressive! I'll be back soon.
Great food and drinks, brunch with a live DJ was awesome.
